10 YEARS A BOND!

"It is the moment when the masculinity of Connery,
the vulnerability of Lazenby, the diplomacy of Moore,
the instinct of Dalton and the professionalism of Brosnan
now become the conscience of Craig"

(CATCHING BULLETS - MEMOIRS OF A BOND FAN)

Today marks the tenth anniversary of EON Productions official announcement that Daniel Craig is the new James Bond 007. It was October 14th 2005 when producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson proudly 'unveiled' a nervous, longer haired, less buff Mr Craig to the world's press aboard London's HMS Belfast. The announcement ended what was eighteen months of feverish speculation, rumour-wrangling and - in the end - someone's Mum letting slip to the British press.

The decade since has been a wild ride for James Bond in the cinema. Mr Craig has helped steer, re-steer, cast, locate and now produce four sterling Bond entries - which has collectively combined to form a second golden age for Bond. 2006's CASINO ROYALE re-pointed Bond and proved a stunning act of renovation and renaissance on the part of EON Productions.

Not since Bondmania in the mid 60s has the fervour for Bond, Bond music, new titles, new books, artwork, merchandise, clips and announcements been so underlined by BAFTAS, Oscars, Golden Globes and the zenith of creative talent clamouring to get involved with 007.

And as Moneypenny notes in SPECTRE - "I think you're just getting started".

Happy tenth birthday to the 006th 007!
