  • I agree. In my view, SF got it just right when it came to the humour. The only time it failed was with "circle of life", and unfortunately SP is a film riddled with that kind of humour. They have to be careful with Craig though, because he can…

  • OP Discussion on the Production Thread motivated a viewing. I had a blast as always, and actually this was one of my better viewings in some time. This film moves at a much faster pace than MR (which I viewed on the previous night) and the action…
  • No apology required @mybudgetbond. I see Bond in all of Roger's performances personally (although I can understand your point of view), but I think he varied his delivery and performance depending on the film. He's a lot more jovial in MR, seriou…

  • @mybudgetbond, sometimes my subtle humour can be misunderstood on this forum. Just having a go. I didn't take anything personally, I can assure you. I can agree with some of your points, although I think your beef should be more with the producers s…
  • These hurtful recent remarks about one of my favourite Bond actors have left me with little choice. OP goes in the player in a few minutes.

  • I'm not a fan of TND on the whole, but agree about the 'fun' aspect. It certainly has a breezy quality to it. In my view it's spoiled by the predictability and by the numbers quality. On the whole, it does feel like something one would watch on t…
  • That's a good point about the 80's @LeonardPine . Come to think of it, the film does satirize and embody 80's greed, gaudiness and excess very well (almost as well as Stone's own Wall Street). I wasn't aware of Spielberg's small involvement.
  • I don't doubt it @DaltonCraig007. He's the highest paid actor these days too, isn't he (it's between him and Wahlberg I think)? Ticks a diversity box too. I'm looking forward to Rampage and Skyscraper this year. Both should be good fun.

  • I don't think they expected it to be that big of a hit. The sequel drops in Dec 2019, so that's more competition for Bond going into Christmas of that year.

  • I'm quite grateful that there are films from each actor's tenure which I can really enjoy and are in my top ten. They all have had their moments in the sun, and in the shade (except Laz who never got the chance, poor chap).
  • mattjoes wrote: » bondjames wrote: » However, it is Lois Chiles' Dr. Holly Goodhead who I have had the most change in opinion about. I used to dislike her when younger and found her quite plain jane, but now think she is one of the better Bond…
  • Craig had a contract for a fifth didn't he, although one that by his own admission someone could wipe their ar$@ with? So the default was always that he would return, unless someone bought him out. RE: why he made the announcement, I think it wa…
  • The first page always gives you that info.
  • I haven't seen the first one but really liked the 2000 continuation @ClarkDevlin. Jeffrey Wright and Christian Bale were excellent in that film. With Jackson on board I'll be sure to check this one out. I'm sure it will be great fun.
  • I don't necessarily want 'camp' back and I don't think that's what anyone really wants. What I think needs to return is that whimsical sense of fun. The light hearted spirit which used to characterize this series for so long. Yes of course, some …
