  • I walked out of the theater in '12 saying to myself that SF was somewhere in the top ten. Today I've got it at #10. I've come to really enjoy the underlying themes, the way it evokes Fleming, and the way it plays with the idea of a Bond film. I also…

  • Whenever Boyle's "twist" or "movie gold idea" is mentioned, we keep circling back to the period piece thing. The thought of picking up right where SP left off does make the stomach queasy, and if they're ever going to do a 50s-set Bond film we're po…

  • Tuulia wrote: » Yes, she was good (though I'm not convinced she was better than Lesley Manville in Phantom Thread or Laurie Metcalf in Lady Bird). Yes, definitely. Those two performances stand out more.

  • It's SF at the moment! At #10. TLD is actually fairly low down on my list. About #20 - #22.
  • Birdleson wrote: » After watching YOLT tonight, I've decided to move it up a notch; so back into the Top Ten it goes, so long GE. Good man! I'm 9 in agreement on the top ten. Difference being LALD -- it fluctuates from about #12 to maybe #…
  • I'll take OP over any of the other 80s films. I wouldn't say it's regressive. For me it's definitely the closest Cubby came to recapturing the feel of the 60s films (TSWLM did its own 70s thing) but I don't find that a bad thing.

  • I guess it's fair to say that if this blindsided Barber (and it seems all the MGM employees) then it also came out of nowhere for Eon. If this is the first step in a sale/merger, how big of a wrench in the works are we looking at?

  • Happened upon this crop of news: (1) Gary Barber is out as MGM's CEO -- unclear if/how impacts B25 (2) Conference call takes place March 28 (3) Apparently WB is at the top of foreign distributors list -- can't remember if this is new? know they…
  • Not only is the second half worse but the second half of the second half is somehow even worse than that.

  • I, TONYA (2017) - I don't feel as though I've seen enough of 2017 yet to put together a full top ten, but this would probably land somewhere in the second half of the list as of now. Was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. I had been expec…
