I think it’s safe to say in the case of several, sexism is a factor, but just as well with many others it isn’t in the equation. Everything’s about balance, but people love narratives and extremes.

Nothing to take away from it one way or another. On paper though, no Sidney + over the top gore + NYC setting seems like a recipe of jumping the shark to me. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if this turns out to be a 6/10 or better for me.

I agree with you guys. As in, I feel like the hype of extra extra gore will be a cheap way to try to fill the void, and 5 was a fine enough place to end it. I’d still have been fine with 4 being the last - a quite good and underrated entry IMO.

I’ll have to check it out. My expectations are almost rock bottom since Sidney is gone, but hopefully they can make something good out of it still. It just won’t be the same.

Extreme OCD is a b*tch. It’s only gotten worse with age for me. I find myself lately wasting hours organizing my movie collection, and getting rid of or replacing anything possible to make it look even the littlest bit neater.

I think it’s cool both Craig’s Bond and Ford’s Indy end with five total films. It’s a satisfying number. Not too many, not too little. Though I wouldn’t have minded more for either had circumstances been different.

At least Spielberg didn’t redo his original work with CG and enforce it as the only accessible version… If I made films, I’d go with practical over CG as much as possible. Even with all the “advancements” of CG, practical still looks better 9/10 …

If anything, any genuine concerns about “wokeness” around this particular film ought to be shot down by the fact John Rhys-Davies is back as Sallah. I’m sure we’ll hear some outcry about that.

Unfortunately, reservations / even skepticism gets shot down a lot in these conversations, so I can’t blame them for not wanting to try. A lot of people like to quickly make things personal or jump to conclusions.
