  • Number three for me. Without conducting a poll, I think that the title sequence from TB is the one that most non or casual fans think of when they picture a Bond film’s titles. It is iconic.
  • FYI, People Magazine has a special “TOP GUN” newsstand special for sale. Whatever TOP GUN's artistic merits, I really enjoyed the film. And without being too personal, it helped me deal with 1986,,,,a year of great tragedy.
  • Thank you for that run down @Revelator. I should really learn more about this era of film making. I'm sure that you've seen this Turner Classic Movie (TCM) short on the "silent era."

  • If only I could follow Betty Boop's example........ Betty Boop - Judge For A Day (1935)
  • @mattjoes. CHINA BEACH was a kind of MASH type TV program – except it was set during the Vietnam War (instead of Korea). Ms. Delany, played the main character, Nurse Colleen McMurphy. FYI, Alain Delon fans may want to bookmark this twitter page: …
  • FYI, For those of you in the New York City area, in July/August the Film Forum will be running a series of films from 1962-1964. So far, I only see Goldfinger listed. From the flyer: JFK’s “Camelot,” the Cuban Missile Crisis, the March on Wash…
  • This is really sad news to end the week on. I remember seeing REMO WILLIAMS during its’ premiere weekend back in late 1985 – when it was being positioned by some as the start of a James Bond like franchise. It didn’t happen, but that takes nothin…
  • @DarthDimi I still remember the huge excitement when the first ever photo of a black hole was released back in 2019. My understanding, is that while this black hole is much closer to home, it is also significantly smaller. Thus, harder to image. …
  • It gets a bit confusing (sorry about that @LucknFate ). The “City Cinema” is really called the: Village East by Angelika, and is on 12th street and 2nd avenue. https://www.angelikafilmcenter.com/villageeast There is also a theater called the …

  • @LuckNFate, unfortunately MR. KLEIN was only screened at The Film Forum (in New York City) in March of this year. As for Ms. Delaney, @mattjoes, I know her mostly from the TV series CHINA BEACH and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. She has also co-hosted fil…

  • I actually like the OHMSS title themes of “time” and “honor and country” and had it ranked 5th. As for the random images from prior films, I think that they were a means to connect OHMSS with those films. “Don’t worry folks, the new actor is stil…

  • I had the titles for SF at number 4. One of my criteria for Kleinman’s work is whether or not – after I’ve seen the movie – I seek out “bootleg” versions of it on YouTube! A really good title sequence should (IMO) get you excited to see the film …
  • Ava Gardner!!! I’ m sure THE KILLERS (1946) is on your list @ToTheRight. Between Gardner, Lana Turner, Gene Tierney, Rita Hayworth, etc… we could start a very interesting ranking game!!! I wonder who would win? :))
  • NEVER underrate Ann-Margret’s range of talent. Several months ago I saw her in the crime noir ONCE A THIEF (1965, with Alain Delon, Van Heflin and Jack Palance) and was blown away by her performance. To state the obvious, Ms. Margret was a lot more …

  • @Revelator. Yeah, I saw this earlier today and haven't stopped smiling ever since! How they did it.... You know, the early episodes of the old TV series weren't the out and out camp feast that seasons 2 and 3 were (IMO). Not "dark" mind you,…

  • @ToTheRight, your shelves must be sagging under the weight of all of these Lana Turner DVDs. :)) Of course, I’m no better and I recently had to buy another Book/DVD cabinet for all of my projected film noir purchases and Bond 60th stuff.
