Oh my.......so sorry, Erica, I didn't know it was really you! OK, so I could have guessed no two people on this planet would use the same nasty stink of crazy xenophobia and Merkel-hate as remedy for their inferiority complexes. But you can't blame me for hinting that you are here, of all places. How could I have known that? After all the nasty things you had to say about "sixbook" and how you felt the mods here are all bossy egomaniacs? Whatever, hope you can forgive me for hinting to Brian you are also here, seeing how you are now so particularly chummy. Another surprise after I read how ugly you've been to the guy only a little while ago. Glad to see you two are so chummy now. Have a lovely day, Erica. And you should really stop gnashing your teeth, that's very unbecoming when one already has a nasty face to begin with. ;)

it's not the themes of SF that bother me, so much as the fact we lost those 4 years to MGM's internal issues and there is a feeling that there's almost a 'missing' Craig Bond movie between QoS and SF. And no…
I remember Ulrich Matthes once was up for a villain, either CR or QOS. In the looks department he doesn't match the description given in TB. But the eyes are pure villain material, this guy's my Blofeld.
I'm through with the first three Alex Rider books, Stormbreaker, Point Blanc and Skeleton Key. All three a fun read and surely very much influenced by Bond. IMO they felt like a mash-up of novelizations and Fleming's ideas, I liked that quite some. …
Yeah, let's hope for the best. Lynch coming back to this is a good sign, better than someone reinventing it because they bought the rights. I haven't seen it in its entirety, Twin Peaks lost me halfway down the second season and I avoided the film. …
Is that a good idea, so long after Twin Peaks ran? It's now a cult classic, I have difficulty seeing it live up to its own myth now. I hear Mark Frost is back, too, maybe that's a good sign. But I'm usually skeptic when classics are revisited. But I…
So we think Austria doubles for Spitsbergen? Aw shame, I would have wanted some Austrian Alps atmosphere. I'm never really sold when they try to make one place look like another.
Picked up Stormbreaker yesterday, halfway through already. It's fun so far, a slick read, I'm pleasantly surprised. Gives me hope for Horowitz trying his hand on Bond.

Any suggestions where to start reading Horowitz if you want to get a taste? I'm no Holmes fan though.
How about the Alex Rider books? Apparently, he was hugely inspired by Fleming when writing those nove…

This is just classic paper bullshit that we hear at the start of every Bond film; such as DAD was to be titled Beyond the Ice or that Robbie Williams would do the theme song (a popular refrain for every Bond film in the 9…

If we ended up with a solid 30 minutes of alpine scenery in FYEO STYLE I'd already be quite happy. Give us some atmosphere, a sense of being there. In SF they did fine with Scotland but that Hashima Island was u…

Strong, hands down Strong. Yes, there could possibly be some better ones, Ciaran Hinds for example. But they could also do much, much worse. I'd opt for Strong if this was up to me.
Same here, I'm fine with Fleming and with popcorn fun. But the best films aim to mix both worlds IMO. Without the balance the flicks become mindless action-fests.
Can they be compared? OHMSS's editing may not be fantastic, but I'd not compare it to QOS's either, a whole different league. As if something was missing from the latter on purpose. I'm fine with the intro and the opera scene. But the boat action, d…
The only thing I didn't get about TMWTGG was why Leiter bothered with the window dummy when it was clear that they'd round up the Scaramanga party that day? It shocked Bond and gave Scaramanga unnecessarily the advantage of surprise. Other than that…

Dunno, I don't like this kind of OTT action, not outside superhero flicks. I may see it anyway, but I'd rather they'd played it a little less ludicrous.

You can of course set up hurdles like several passwords which mustn't be identical. But if people are lazy they could still just use xyz1, xyz2, xyz3. And security is helpless when people write them down next to the screen or keyboard. The article I…
I read somewhere hacking consisted of three quarters human thoughtlessness on the side of the victim and only one quarter actual tech skills. Even people working in sensitive fields write down complicated passwords under their keyboard or use the na…

I wonder what Q's role will be in the future. Thinking of SF Q appears to be more a code-breaker or CSI guy now. Arming Bond was a footnote, it seemed to me. Will this character have room in future Bond films? Or will his part speedily become a nuis…
Should have made better use of Paris, too. It's dreadful how the location is boiled down to the tour Eiffel and the chase effectively ends in the structure's shadow already.
