  • I think there’s a difference between a director who’s creative, reliable, and established, but perhaps works in different genres/makes different types of films each time they direct, and one that’s simply more run of the mill. Truth be told I’m not …
  • It’ll definitely be a very stylish film if this all turns out to be the case. But ultimately a good portion will depend on the writers involved too. It could still be a flat film in terms of substance or it could be great (although I suspect it’ll b…
  • It depends on which wider shots I think. The ones during the casino scenes in LTK aren’t exactly always composed in interesting ways (all standard two or one shots without much depth, mostly eye level… it’s all a bit flat with the lighting). I do ag…

  • Some actors don't seem to show their height onscreen (unless you're really looking). Marlon Brando for me is an example. I always thought the guy was six foot watching his films (especially when he was young). Turns out he was 5'7. Craig's kinda …

  • I found that a bit odd as well. Craig's had one of the better careers for an incumbent and previous Bond....
  • I'm not sure if anyone can seriously look at Callum Turner and say he's not good looking/attractive to at least a portion of people. Again, not saying we ourselves have to find him so (many of us as heterosexual men won't find any of these men attra…
  • I suspect the way of looking at it at the current time is they’re literally getting to stage 1 (finalising producers in this instance and getting a deal finalised for May). Where they’ll take Bond - the next movie, spin offs etc will come after.
  • Daltonforyou wrote: » Denbigh wrote: » But the whole discussion surrounding attractiveness is subjective anyway? So what does it matter if you personally don’t find them attractive this time round? I don’t find Lazenby or Moore to be attractiv…

  • Yes, to be fair those are encouraging picks, although neither are guaranteed to give us worthwhile or even financially successful Bond films. I suppose we’ll have to wait until May or after for anything definitive.
  • patb wrote: » @mtm yes, SF is so clever, it's multilayered so I agree with your comments but, at the same time, it does deal with Bond's age and his ability to operate ("It's a young man's game. Look, you've been seriously injured. There's no sham…

  • Exactly. The likes of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was met with a bit of skepticism too and look how that turned out. Also worth saying that when it comes to casting, it’s unlikely an actor will appear from nowhere who not only looks exactly like a …
  • It depends on how it’s done. I’m fine with time jumps going forward like what we get in GE and NTTD, but I don’t think a Bond film should have flashbacks in the middle of the story. Maybe an in media res thing like the first quarter of OHMSS? I’m no…

  • They’re different but only in the Craig universe (where Bond never served under them anyway and their paintings are hung in MI6). In the Moore timeline they’re the same. Or some nonsense like that 😉
  • ‘Tall, dark and handsome’ can have millions of variations too potentially. Personally I think someone like Moore (who had lighter hair anyway) looks and comes off as very different to Connery, and Dalton different to those two. On the flip side I’ve…

  • Is that a big mentality on these forums though? If anything I think the opposite's far more prevalent here. I haven't seen anyone claim we need a 'non-traditional' Bond. Maybe some people like actors who perhaps fall into that category for whatever …
