  • Maybe it's because of intense scrutiny as never before by the world's press and social media that one can easily gain the impression that 'something is rotten in the state of' Bond 25. If one is to give credence to persistent press reports, some believe that EON suprema Barbara Broccoli is the root cause. Because of her unwavering conviction that Daniel Craig 'can walk on water', it seems La Broccoli is prepared to do anything to keep the reportedly volatile Craig happy. It was Craig's personal wish to bring on board the ubiquitous Phoebe Waller-Bridge as 'script doctor' - bringing to six (!) the number of screenwriters for Bond 25 - whereas a more logical choice would have surely been Jed Mercurio, THE master of edge-of-seat drama. And as for appointing 'an intimacy coordinator' for the sex scenes between Craig and love interest Ana de Armas, what could be more risible? Did de Armas have 'intimacy coordinators' for her sex scenes in Mentiras y gordos, Knock Knock, Hands of Stone and Anima, in which the actress reveals very considerably more than one will ever see in a Bond film? One may be forgiven for thinking that the producers and writers of Bond 25 have lost sight of what it is that brings audiences worldwide flocking to see a Bond film - new or otherwise. In cravenly kowtowing to the PC and #MeToo lobbies, the producers are in grave danger of throwing out the baby golden goose with the bathwater.

Can't be too much longer until a composer is announced, surely?

One hopes. I think it could still be a ways out, though.

It may depend on the level of collaboration they're hoping to have with the (eventual) title song artist. Hasn't really been an issue on the last two films with Newman. But Arnold was down to work quite early (if I'm recalling my Some Kind of Hero chapter correctly) with Chris Cornell on Casino, as an example. Of course he was the composer-in-residence at the time, so that made sense.

Much as I've enjoyed Tom's (underrated, IMO) work on the last two films -- I'd love nothing more than a full-blown Arnold finale to the Craig era with strong title song integration from the very start.

I think they just trying to be careful they really don't want things screwed up this time.

Sometimes weeks will pass without even being reminded that Bond 25 exists, thats how bad the PR job for this production has been. We had an announcement that Craig would return on Colbert which feels like it could feature in natural geographic it happened so long ago now. Then it was radio silence while Boylegate happened for the next year, and then that shambles of a conference where a warmed over Craig and cast tried there best not to look bewildered by the experience. Yes a few thousand diehards tuned in, but what is Bond doing to compete with the other brands out there? There strategy of keeing out of the public eye as much as possible is not condusive with the hyped-based culture we live in, and Bond seems seriously in danger of falling behind the times.

If they follow a timeline like they had with SPECTRE, the first official image from the film should drop sometime in June.

SPECTRE’s first image dropped in Feb. 2015, 2 months after principal photography began.

June will be 2 months since B25 started filming, so hopefully they’ll drop something for us. We’ll see!

We didn’t even have the title to the last Avengers film until, what, a few months from release? I think you’re grossly overestimating how much marketing should be done this far from release. It’s Bond. Everyone will get excited about it when it’s closer to release just like every other film.

I still think a title should have been announced already. They said it was going to be announced after all. That is the one thing that worries me.

Will Bond 25 be pushed back again?

Anything is possible of course, but as for a specific answer to the question.....why would it be pushed back again?

Because he wants it pushed back, nothing would make him happier to see DC quit and then fulfil his wet dreams and have Aidan Turner announced as taking over.

I seem to remember saying you wouldn't be in threads to do with Bond 25 @Mendes4Lyfe, I guess your new wooden spoon arrived earlier than you were expecting.

I was quite enjoying the lack of your smug negativity but I guess like the inevitability of an unloved season you would return.

Craig is the best thing to happen to the series in decades.

Agree with you and @Shardlake-- the best thing to happen to the series since the Golden era (although SP was flawed-- and that's the only reason why I think we're seeing DC back in B25-- he wanted to go out on a high (people say money, and I say: when you've made what DC has made since '05/'06, he's only moving laterally financially. He could have retired after SF and not made another film, period-- living off the residuals from SF alone, with no more injuries, lol).

As a Bond fan for 40 years, I am safely in the camp that feels quite blessed that this man took over the tuxedo.

Same here. He’s definitely my second favorite after Connery, and collectively their two runs are my favorites (DAF and SP being the only duds). Very glad he is returning for B25, and I’m optimistic it will be far superior to SP. Since production, barring the injury, I’ve gotten great vibes about it.

SP is not as bad as people make out. Yes Brofeld was a bad idea and the film lacks energy at times but had we got a film of this quality anyitme between 90 and 2005 I would have been over the moon. Heck I even think I would have taken SF over what we were getting back then.

DAF a dud? It's absolutely not. Like the best second tier films its wackily off beat and strange and always entertaining.

I personally enjoy Rog, Dalton and even Laz's Bonds more than Craig. But he's a solid Bond. I've never particularly warmed to his take (too thuggish and indestructible) but that doesn't mean I don't respect him.

Would it be so bad if the film had no title? If it was just called BOND 25? If that was the title? Maybe that’s what they’re going for. Certainly would be unique :)

I don't understand how one can be worried becausr no title has been announced yet, when they are filming a film.

I was initially disappointed by the lack of a title too, but the intriguing cast and the very exciting locations we've seen so far have more than made up for it.

I agree that their is no need to panic about no title yet, just grateful we have a new movie being made after such a long gap between movies!

The lack of a title causes me no concern. In spite of some bumps in the road I have a great feeling about Bond 25; it looks like it’s going to be gorgeous..

The relative secrecy around the film is a good thing IMO

Because they said they'd announce the title @boldfinger. And beside a title gives us an idea of what the film is about. Heck, sometimes writers come up with the title before they think of a story to write!
But my main concern in the case of Bond 25 is that they did announce they would give the title, then they did not. I think that's a blunder, for one, and it can also be symptomatic of other problems. Don't get me wrong: there's a lot of things I like with the production do far. Love the casting, the tidbits of plot we got, love the locations, the pictures, etc. I also think Craig looks better now than he did in SF or SP. But frankly they have no excuse for the title.

I´m much more interested in watching a good movie than I am in knowing in Advance what the movie is About. But I guess that´s a matter of Preference ;-).

When did EON announce a title reveal?

George Orwell started writing a novel called The Last Man in Europe. By the time he finished it was called 1984.

That happens oftentimes. Not always for the best. 1984 is IMO the better title. A good year too :)
