Bond Girl Wannabees

So, model Daisy Lowe wants to be a 'Bond Girl'. OF COURSE she wants to be a 'Bond Girl' - what a great career boost! Sorry, Daisy, but I'd not heard of you before reading this news item. Now I've troubled to look you up on the Internet, I can see you're pretty, but no prettier than 60% of the girls one sees in the local High Street. The crucial question one must ask of any wannabee 'Bond Girl' is ... can she act? And that's not a given. We already know that a number of Bond actresses couldn't act - chief amongst them, that 'wooden' glamourpuss Gemma Arterton. What WAS Eon thinking of? And I personally found Eva Green most unconvincing as the all-consuming love of Bond's life. (Such a great shame, that casting.) Moreover, I fully subscribe to previous correspondents who have bemoaned the absence of TRULY BEAUTIFUL actresses in more recent Bond films, a far cry from the stunning beauties that populated the early Connery Bond films. So, in attempt to champion the restoration of beautiful Bond girls to the series, I propose the closest we're ever likely to get to the unmatchable Grace Kelly - the Welsh mezzo-soprano Katerine Jenkins. And before anybody raises objection, let me remind you that she CAN ACT! Apart from being de rigueur for operatic singers, she took many people my surprise in her sensitive portrayal in the Christmas 'Doctor Who'.

forget all this sensitive, pc, great actress type thing. I want the next Bond girl to be in the film for pure visual eye-candy and revealing outfits. I want to go back to 'man-talk' slap bum.

So that would mean doors ajar for wannabes left right and center - just the way i like it.

And j7, you should know me better than that, by now. I've not only seen her in Three, but I have the DVD. I also have Absolon, School For Seduction (Kelly is very convincing as an italian), Fishtales and Ripper (though she has very little screentime).

Sorry, guys, I think it highly unlikely Kelly Brook would ever be cast as anything more than a token one-scene-only-like Bond Girl (a la Molly Warmflash), and hopefully that'll never happen anyway... ;)

I've also seen her in Sorted. And though Guillory was the reason behind me buying that film, Brook has an.... interesting, though very short scene. Now if we could get Brook and Estella Warren into the same Bond film, things could get very intersting. Sadly, that'll never happen beyond any full cast Bond Timeline i'd write.

Now onto a serious Bond Girl suggestion, i'd like to see Sienna Guillory as a Bond Girl. But at 36, I fear she's now the other side of EON's casting net (age wise). :-( Still, chin up, there's always the hope that she'll take centre stage in the next Resident Evil film.

i agree with ms. guillory but we only liked her really because she had short black hair and looked like a xxx tomb raider in RE....i always fancied Kelly Reilly would make a good pairing with DC.

Speak for yourself, forgotmyusername. Had she not been in Resident Evil, i'd still like Guillory as an actress on the strength of everything else i've seen her in, most notably, Helen Of Troy and Superstition.

Acting? Acting? We want a Bond girl to act? Pah that is sooooooooooooooooooooo wrong. I really just want to see JB on his own without a female lead. The best thing about the last two Bond films is James Bond/DC. He just needs to be let of the leash and just have a movie to himself AND have some fun. I want the girls in the next movie to be fluff, simply fluff. I've had enough of Bond girls trying to be the rationale for JB's actions he's just gotta do what a man has gotta do.

I disagree. The lack of acting skills in Halle Berry's performance, or in that of several other actresses, is one of the major turn-offs from me. Eva Green, on the other hand, acted well and thus got me much more interested in the character. I don't want the type of girls who are "Bond's equal" and such but you can't have any objection against well acting women. Honor Blackman acted well. So did Maud Adams. So did Diana Rigg...

I would love to see former Eastenders actress and Strictly Come Dancing winner Kara Tointon have a role as a Bond girl (possibly even the next Moneypenny), she's a great actress with both serious drama and humorous roles, her looks are both classic beauty and contemporary sexy and lets face it she fills a bikini rather nicely! :x
