That is a very appealing list, but for the low placement of OP (not a Top 15 of mine, but the worst seems harsh).

Rating might have something to do with pic related. Absolutely bizarre.

I always felt Roger really sells that scene. The intensity as the bomb is being defused was superb.

Exactly. That's why Octopussy has been as high as #2 on my list. Field agents must use every means at their disposal to complete their objective...

Being chased by police, trying to blend in the circus to diffuse a bomb, a clown outfit is the perfect disguise. More absurd things have happened in the franchise

    Absolutely @w2bond.
If you're a spy who needs access to a circus and you're being pursued by armed guards and local police, then what better way is there than to disguise yourself as a clown.
I love that Bond finds himself in the same costume as 009 had on as well.

    That was a nice touch.

@Birdleson Yes while they had different objectives they required the same disguise, and 007 was more successful. People often take issue with the "Siiit", Tarzan yell and silly Tuk Tuk chase etc, but overlook the decent thriller that it is. I don't mind the sillier moments, even like them, and in combination with a good but confusing plot, great ensemble of villains, and reasonably tense throughout it's always been a top 7 for me

So five or ten seconds from the movie, and it ruins the whole film?
    The excellent PTS
    The Sotheby's scene
    The backgammon game
Bond fighting the thugs at Octopussy's palace
"Remember 007, you're on your own."
    "Oh thank-you Sir, that's a great comfort."

    Infiltrating the circus
    The face off with Orlov
The race to stop the train
    Defusing the bomb
The final attack on the Monsoon palace and the aerial action climax
All of that goes out the window.

Well each to their own I guess. I can understand there are elements of juvenile humour and silliness. But bottom of the ranks. Oh well.

I like these quite a lot, fine Bond moments. Still, those juvenile humour moments kill the complete vibe for me. Moreover, I don't think that climax would have been any better even without them.

OP is more or less my favourite Moore film, and always has been. I do think it's well shot. You get a sense of the exotic beauty of India (even if, as Moore has said, they bypassed the shocking poverty in parts of the country).

It flows better than FYEO which jumped from one protracted action scene to another, and is far more engaging than AVTAK.

The comedy doesn't seem to detract from the film as much as it did in MR. The Tarzan yell and 'Sit!' come and go so quickly you don't have too much time to despair. In MR every action scene was punctuated with a gag, which eventually wore me down.

The last 20 minutes as Bond chases through Germany to get to the circus, and defuse the bomb is genuinely thrilling. So is the early scene of 009 (8? 6?) being chased by the twins, wearing the clown's costume.

The plot is convoluted but enjoyable.

Nope. I never tire of OP.

OP is one of those Bond films where I look forward to every scene. What a film!

Here's an interesting ranking. A few top ten entries on my list are incredibly low down on this list.

I like the love for CR, SF, GE, and TSWLM, but much of this list is extremely different from my own.

The meeting of the Russian generals (including Orlov's excellent speech)
Car chase (not particularly tense in itself but the stakes are high)
    Twins fight
    Initial monsoon fight

Basically it's one of the few Bond movies where I can skip randomly to any part and enjoy myself

Tried once again to approach this in a more “scientific” way. Made top 5’s from all the categories with each movie ending on top receiving 5 pts and each movie in 5th spot receiving 1 pt (4 pts for 2nd place, 3 for 3rd and 2 for 4th).

    The categories were:

    Favourite James Bond performance
    Favourite Bond girl
    Favourite villain
    Favourite henchman/woman
    Favourite ally
Favourite performance by an actor/actress reprising the same role

TMWTGG got 5 points for Christopher Lee ending up as my favourite villain. It also scored quite some points for its production design (with extra points for the Funhouse) and the PTS is one of my favourites.

Eva Green ended up as my second favourite Bond girl. CR’s plot and one of the poker scenes (the one where Bond loses and remains seated completely disillusioned) made top 5’s but it appears that wasn’t enough to end up higher.

I wonder if the outcome would have changed if you allocated points to all 25 instead of only the top 5.

Some major changes; for the first time FYEO cracks my Top Ten, and sadly DAF takes a tumble (more due to some greater appreciation of the competition, rather than any great change in my enjoyment of the film).

FYEO, goes in and out of my top ten. Currently at 11, but it's always in that ball park.
It's a very good entry. But also imo one of Moore's best. I like the almost fatherly way he plays Bond in FYEO. I think it would've worked very well if Bond and Melina hadn't ended with a sexual relationship, but a mutual respect for one another.
It has some unbelievable action and beautiful cinematography I feel is sometimes overlooked.
If I'm not mistaken OP seems to be moving up your ranks too. ;)

I started to do it, but it became too time consuming.

Indeed it was. Luckily, I had a day off ;)
Next time, if there is one, I’ll probably go for top 3’s.

That's a great ranking @Birdleson!! So happy to see LALD so high. Mine would look really similar I imagine. I think I would put FYEO a bit lower and bring up TLD. And switch OP with AVTAK. Awesome. :)

Here's my tiered ranking so far in my Bondathon in the lead up to Bond 25:

    1. Thunderball
    2. You Only Live Twice

    3. Skyfall
    4. Quantum of Solace
    5. Spectre

I am watching roughly in reverse tier order, but randomly within tiers. Once I pass the first 8 or so, I'll actually look forward to watching them
