MI6 was blown to bits and the 00 program as well as Q, Moneypenny & Tanner were disbanded. The CNS building still stands. I would imagine B25 has to pick up some time later to sort all that out. Too much time has passed for a direct sequel after Bond drives off with Madeline in the DB5

I don't get the support for Dormer at all, but that's fine.

    With you. Bloody awful.

    Speaking of Felix Leiter...

A possible scheduling conflict for Jeffery Wright not to come back? That would be a shame.

I would hope not. Letter doesn't need an expanded role. For instance there's no reason his QoS scenes should have taken more than a week or two of filming.

I agree it's possible he could still do it. Although I think my stance on Felix Leiter is the same as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Only bring him back if it makes sense to the story you're trying to tell, and there's a reason for him to be there. I don't think they should throw him in for the sake of it.

I still hope they find a way to incorporate the CIA into B25, thereby allowing for Leiter's return. The fact that Craig was seen at CIA HQ some months back gives me hope that it was research for the upcoming film, but perhaps it was just for his general interest.

I believe that also happened before Boyle’s departure.

That's true. I forgot about that. Also, I don't think there was anything tying that trip to Bond - we just speculated about it here.

Probably so. I’m all for getting Wright’s Felix back for Bond 25, but it won’t have to make or break the excitement. It would be nice though.

Isn’t Dormer a little too similar to Seydoux to be cast alongside her in B25? Without knowing what the story is it’s hard to picture her in the movie. Of course there’s nothing stopping Dormer from playing the bad girl who tries to bed Bond, but I don’t see it somehow. I can see Rami Malek being cast as he’s one inch shorter than Craig and his next movie American Radical doesn’t appear to have a start date as of yet. I guess we’ll find out pretty soon.

Dormer would be great, although I'm still holding out for Andrea Riseborough, Sonoya Mizuno or Tao Okamoto.

Seydoux is a better actress than Dormer. Her filmography proves it. I also find her more attractive, but that’s personal.

While I agree Seydoux is the better actress, her filmography doesn't prove it. Plenty of bang average actors have been in great films. All it means is they have good agents.

Seeing as Baz was with Barbara Broccoli and Rami Malek this week, I won't be surprised if we get a little scoop on Thursday, whether it involves Malek or not. I'm actually waiting for them to announce whose going to be doing the costumes and production design.

Plus while everyone says Skyfall was mostly unknowns do we forget about No Country for Old men and how that pushed Javiar Bardem on the Us scene certainly? Again it either due to to my increased awareness of films or because they are getting more main stream actors but assuming Rami is the next actor play a villain in Spectre I have at least heard of the main villain actor in each bond film since Skyfall

Did you not read the bolded part of my initial post...?

"When they cast obscure talented actors or established name actors who are consistently good performers over their careersthat's when the overall product turns out to be better."
  • Escalus5 wrote: »
I thought Bardem gave a hammy performance, and he looked completely ridiculous with blond hair.

Disagree. Bardem bought a much needed sense of flamboyance and mischief. The blonde hair was odd at first, but it was perfectly offset by his performance and he cemented his position in the Bond villains hall-of-fame. More of this!

Arguably, Mendes' casts were not A-list Hollywood stars - he went with very prestige casts for both his films. They were quality talent that is world renown. Not necessarily 'stars'.

In other news, Fukunaga was at a BAFTA party last night and so was Rami Malek

These guys and gals seem to hang out at a lot of parties together. Makes me suspect there might be something to his casting. The guy just looks like a Bond villain. I could see him as SPECTRE agent number 2. Perhaps he is running the show while Blofeld is imprisoned, or maybe he leads the operation to break Blofeld out.

Damn, Malek could poke an eye from someone with that high risen chin. Guy has a weird quality to him that just works rather well in his favour. And he plays it nicely, with that slim fit neo-something style.

Could be a Mission Impossible dynamic with Cavill and Sean Harris.

Would love to see Malek as a modern Kronsteen type.

Oh God I hope not. 1. Hated fallout 2. A plot revolving around blofeld’s escape = necessarily bad. I’m not ready to jump on the cynicism bandwagon just yet (unlike some others), but if eon announces a closer connection to spectre, I may have no choice. I may still be suprised, and would of course give the film a chance, but my expectations would plummet, as I simply can’t imagine a good plot closely connected to spectre. I wanted daniel craig to return, being the best bond since connery, and needing an excellent sendoff, but I did not know it would mean a film closely connected to spectre. Also, it seems that the people who were initially cynical about bond 25 are now optimistic, and vice versa.

I quite enjoyed MI: Fallout for what it was, but if Bond 25 bares any resemblance to it I'll be monumentally pissed off because after Skyfall's constant comparisons to The Dark Knight, it's the last thing I wanna see. Although, I do trust Fukunaga and his original directorial voice so I don't think we'll get this, but they've been warned.

I don’t see Fukunaga taking inspiration from McQuarrie.

    Neither do I.

It may very well be an action thriller, but it won’t imitate Fallout. But, if it does, it better be more original and take the mantle back in setting the standards.
