Sounds like great advice, NicNac. I'm out.

I'm quite torn on this. Jeff Sneider's not a nobody. And yes, his record isn't bulletproof—but that's a substantive thing to throw out there, even off the cuff, given the sensitivity around the project. He doesn't say something like that without knowing it would cause a stir on forums like this.

Having said that, he gives absolutely no context. Could've happened months ago. Or could have been something he did legitimately hear, but an exaggeration by the source in question.

Could also be that there are parties with vested interests in Bond getting any form of bad press—which we certainly saw come out of the woodwork last August. I lost count of the number of articles and opinions rushing to proclaim the Bond franchise dead, outdated, or utterly incompetent. It was appalling to see.

We'll know soon enough. And just my personal opinion, but given all that's happened, I'd bet EON would move heaven and earth to ensure it stays on track at this point.

EON would have to move heaven & earth. Could you imagine what a disaster it would be if Fukunaga walked?

Since the production was granted incentives from the Film Insititute here in Norway last week, there hasn't been any more concrete news. Local newspapers are of course speculating where the production might be shooting, but northern Norway might miss out:
According to Linda Netland in Filmfond Nord (a film financing fund in northern Norway), it's unlikely the production will shoot there, as northern Norway doesn't have a regional film commission – in contrast to other regions.

    https://www.vol.no/nyheter/2019/01/30/James-Bond-kommer-neppe-til-Nord-Norge-18344610.ece

And according to this website (quoting a local newspaper), Rjukan and Tinn is under consideration as a filming location.

    http://www.radiorjukan.no/nyheter/2944/james-bond-snuser-pa-rjukan-som-innspillingssted/

Rjukan is the location of Vemork, the power plant which during WW2 was the target of heavy water sabotage operations. Other locations include Gaustabanen tramway and Hardangervidda National Park Centre.

Maybe, if the rumor is true, they had to allow Fukunaga more creative freedom than they wanted to. I was highly skeptical this was the #1 reason Boyle left - not having enough freedom. If the shooting remains on pace for March 4, we should be getting new information very soon.

I feel like if the filming date was going to be changed, we'd know about it. We knew Boyle was leaving a few months before production was meant to start, so I doubt they'd be making such major changes so late in the game. If Fukunaga was going to leave, he would've done it by now.

As for these possible locations, they look incredible and would fit perfectly into a James Bond film. Plus, they would look incredible with Sandgren's cinematography. Although if I was to choose one of them to be in the film, I'd go for the Gaustatoppen, as there's many different opportunities there. You could have a ski sequence or they can use the tunnels, and maybe even the Gaustabanen tramway itself.

Probably. Maybe (again, assuming the rumor was true) Fukunaga considered dropping out a couple months ago or something. It’s all just speculation anyway, but after Boyle left there is reason for concern. It took us a long time to even get to the point of Boyle being the first director. I wouldn’t be surprised if certain script elements/casting are undecided until after filming begins. There’s no guarantee we’ll end up with a good or bad film, but it’s certain that it’s been a struggle to get here!

Actually, mentioning that, I swear someone on here stated that some of the casting choices were going to be happening after filming had started, or was that just a rumour? It can be quite difficult to keep up on this discussion, because it does get filled up with a lot of nonsense haha :D

It’s happened before though I’m pretty sure. Same for script. Could be part of why we haven’t had as many rumors to go around as we did before. Hoping they at least give us a title and principal cast by the end of February.

Eva Green and Mads Mikklesen weren't cast until later for Casino Royale. I believe maybe a month or so after filming had begun.

Or it could be that boyle leaving is more because of the way he responded to having to deal with the producers/ what he viewed as their interference than over the big idea itself.

Also most would agree they are both among the greatest Bond girls/villains in the whole series. So even if we have to wait longer on certain casting it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Don’t believe this Collider site. They also stated on one of these round table podcast shows that Tom Holland absolutely filmed a cameo for Venom.
    That never came to pass.

    They are just rumour merchants.

I am seriously considering boycotting this particular thread as it does nothing for me. For instance, I was last on the boards yesterday afternoon and I find roughly 110 new posts that have amounted to, well, nothing but speculation, hand-wringing, cynicism and fear.

I get especially wary of these "insiders" that so many of you cling to for some morsel of information. That's the problem with this age that anybody with a keyboard or webcam can have people eating out of their hand.

None of it does anything to enhance my enthusiasm for a new Bond film and I think I'll stick to discussing the other films I've enjoyed for years along with MI and certain others. Alert me when there's real news.

Couldnt have said it better myself.

You don't have to read the discussion. As @NicNac said, just follow the first page updates and keep an eye out for title changes.

I have a question. If the production is offered a certain maximum incentive, does that mean they have to spend up to that amount (i.e. all of it)? Or can they spend far less than the cap? I'm asking because some other efforts were denied funds due to B25 getting an allotment, so presumably they should spend it all. I'd imagine that there is a specific and substantive proposal on the table somewhere in order for these funds to have been earmarked as well. It just hasn't leaked yet.

The quote in this article is rather short, but the original article on rablad.no might tell more. Unfortunately it's behind a paywall.

Interesting question. I guess the incentive granted the production reflects what the producers have in mind for the location. At the same time, if they don't spend all, one would guess that whatever's left will be spent on one of the other productions instead.

Nothing to see here! Everything is 100% all right! Bond 25 will be the greatest movie of all time because it’s being produced by the greatest and most competent producer the world has ever seen: Barbara Broccoli!
