New game developed by Eurocom for PS3 and Xbox360.

Press release.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate the James Bond franchise's 50th anniversary, Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), will launch gamers back through time to relive a selection of Bond's most iconic and intense undercover missions from the popular Bond film franchise with 007™ Legends.

A first-of-its-kind Bond video game, 007 Legends features an original, overarching storyline tying together six classic Bond movies, concluding with this year's highly-anticipated 23rd installment — SKYFALL — to offer the most diverse Bond gaming experience yet! As with the feature films, 007 Legends equips players with state-of-the-art spy gadgets, an arsenal of weapons, including Bond's signature Walther PPK, and sleek vehicles as they jet off to exotic locations and utilize Bond's quick wits, class and style to take down notorious villains and their brutal henchmen, perform impressive stunts, and of course...mingle with gorgeous Bond women.

"To honor 50 years of the world's top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet," said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing, Inc. "Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game."

In addition to 007 Legends' main story, the game will feature the return of fan-favorite single-player Mi6 Ops Missions, which debuted in GoldenEye 007: Reloaded and challenges players to complete extra missions ranging from all-out action to stealth and gadget-based gameplay and compete for the highest online leader board scores. For the first time ever, players will be able to participate as one of Bond's cohorts or villainous foes, reliving the missions through their eyes, as well as 007's. The robust James Bond multiplayer experience includes local four-player split-screen game modes and online competitive gameplay with new maps, weapons and characters derived from Bond's 50 year legacy. With more gadgets, deeper stealth and spy investigation gameplay, gamers will have every opportunity to truly feel like the world's favorite spy.

Planned to launch this fall, 007 Legends is being developed by Eurocom, under license from EON Productions Ltd. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. (MGM) for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Stay tuned for more information on the game's official Web site and Facebook page.[/quote]

Well that sounds pretty damn awesome! I wonder if it will be 3rd person? I hope so. And if so I'm sure it will be Craig.

    Sounds fun!

6 classic Bond movies? I'd like to think that they mean a film from each Bond, but I doubt the Dalton (and Lazenby) era is gonna get a look in. I'm not expeting anything other than the typical choices:

    From Russia With Love
    Goldfinger
    The SpyWho Loved Me
    Moonraker
    Goldeneye
    Casino Royale

    Sounds interesting.

But no PC version again? That's ridiculous.

Wait, it says "entertainment system from Microsoft". Does this - yes or no - mean that the game will also be released for PC?

It says "for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft", I think it's all about the Xbox unfortunately.

If they're clever, they'll pick one movie from each actor's tenure as Bond, and in each you will play as that actor. Giving Bond his many faces will make multi-player more interesting, as you'll have not one, but 6 bonds to pick from. As least I hope that's what they do...

As FRWL, GE and CR all have had their own standalone games (well QOS in CRs case) in the last 5 years or so I think they wont get the treatment (unless this is a cyincal rehashing and cash in).

Much as I would like something for DN as its the first I cant really see this so what are likely to be the 6?

If we assume driving and first/3rd person shooting as in previous games then:

GF - Iconic - probably a driving mission in the DB5 and the final Fort Knox battle for shooting.
YOLT - Cracking scope for battle in the volcano. Little Nellie could replace the driving.
TSWLM - Jaws is also iconic so they will want to get him in. They will include the ski jump somewhere and a shooter on skis could be good if done right. Lotus driving mission and underwater. Actually TSWLM should be held back as a complete game in its own right.
MR or OP - Cable cars could provide a good sequence or Venice boat chase. Shooter on the space station or in space. Iguacu boat chase another possible. Acrostar and fight ono the train.

Thats 2 from Sean and Rog apiece. Much as I would love OHMSS whilst I dont think its impossible its unlikely.

As DCs films have already been done I reckon one from Tim and one from Pierce. They could rehash the 1989 LTK game but I wold prefer TLD - the Aston chase and the final battle would be class.

As for Broz probably TWINE - boat chase is crying out for it.

As if the release of SF wasn't enough of a reason I can't wait for the fall :D

Seriously? No PC? I could so swear this place down to Hell now. Unbelievable!! Granted, us, PC gamers, may not be the decisive factor in their commercial success but we do constitute a vast amount of enthusiastic gamers nonetheless and I feel quite let-down by these folks. They've so far denied us pretty much all the Bond games, safe for a poor, cheaped out version of NF and the recent QoS and BS which I consider between moderate and really good. I would have gladly paid € 50 for this game, like I did for all F.E.A.R. games, for Duke Nukem Forever, Max Payne etcetera.

Perhaps - no, hopefully - this is just a first comment on the game and its release, and further announcements may yet reveal more details, including a release for the PC market. I am nevertheless quite suspicious given the history of Bond games. They just don't like PC gamers. We either don't get a game at all, or we get a slimmed down mock version like NF. I sadly treat QoS and BS as a sunshine on a rainy day.

If it features The Liparus as a level I'll die a happy man.

Should be good if GoldenEye: Reloaded is being built on and used as a foundation. This may also mean another game for the Wii and PC.

Six films forming on plot? I can't wait to see that.

    My sentiments exactly.

So I'm guessing this is just Craig then? I was hoping for all the Bonds to be in it but this sounds cool. It'll be intresting to see if they can merge the plots together will.

Here's the 6 movies I'd like to see in the game:

    - GF/TB
    -OHMSS
    -FYEO/TSWLM
    -LTK/ TLD
    -TND
    -SF

When I listed two, the first is the most prefered

By the way, is it just me, or is that logo extremely ugly. I know some people have a hate for the Brosnan/Craig logo's, but this has got to be the worst, most cheap looking logo in the series

Sounds great. I hope that all 6 Bonds will be available in MP atleast. That would be a revolution!

This sounds awesome! Too bad I sold my XBOX 360 about two months ago. Still, I would love to play this.

Now the question is...are we still getting two games this year or is this the only one? They announced this game much earlier than their previously Bond games so maybe E3? But I think this sounds awesome and cant wait to play it

If OHMSS is in this, I'm sold. Also, If we're going to have a "classic Bond" video game, I want, at least, a few over-the-top Bond films in the game, such as The Spy Who Loved Me, and possibly Diamonds Are Forever.
  • I remember when the PS2 did something similar with the Rocky Balboa series about 8 years ago in where they released a game called "Rocky Legends". Was kinda hoping from the title of this game though that you might play as a few villains (Goldfinger, Blofeld, Jaws, Sanchez, Alec) as well as Bond. Never mind. At least there's a chance we'll get the TND part of the game that never was on the PS1.

Yeah thats really poor. Is that honestly the best they could come up with? Must have taken literally 3 seconds.

So how are they going to weave a story through 6 films?? Skyfall is the conclusion, so that leaves 5 pre Skyfall Bond films then. I hope it is all the actors, and we get one each from every Bond. If there is too much of Sean or Roger I'll be mad, especially if it is in first person. Seriously, Lazenby and Dalton fans deserve their time to play as their favorite Bond too, sheesh. I'm skeptical for this, as I don't see how this will work.
  • I for one am very excited about the prospect of this game, could be a classic in the making. Let's hope we get the game the 50th anniversary and us Bond fans deserve.

Unfortunately, they don't make the games for us Bond fans, but for gamers, a much bigger target group.

I do not agree with the subject matter of this game, but I'll probably still buy it, probably still enjoy it (I still enjoyed Rogue Agent, even though I hated the story).

I really, really want Dalton to be included. If they do use more than one Bond then I hope they don't just forget about him and Lasenby. I have a bad feeling that it might just be playing as Craig in some Connery and Moore films.

If they're using six films (Skyfall included in the six) then the reasonable thing to do is use a film from each actor's era.

    Personally:

    Goldfinger
    On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    The Living Daylights
    Tomorrow Never Dies
    (Skyfall)

I know not many people outside of Bond fandom know of OHMSS, but I think that would make an interesting transition to a video game and perhaps be the best part of the game....

I'd also like to see how they would translate the TLD cargo net fight into a video game.
