He's not unlike Martin Campbell in that detractors will ask, ' what has he done outside of Bond', My reply is, ' I don't care'; both "get" Bond. That's all that matter to me when it comes to either one.
There are a couple of cuts that I enjoy from Newman's scores but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that an Arnold score would have enhanced both SF and SP.

I find myself in total agreement, with one exception: Arnold has delivered quality in his projects outside of Bond.

However, being a director for hire, at times, you are a slave to the material (Green Lantern), whereas the composer can actually give gravitas to terrible material...

Oh definably, both men have done quality work outside of Bond; I simplified, and broadened my statement to reflect the argument of the detractors.

@talos7 , you've done great things in life, and seen some terrible things as well, but, hate to tell you this, you have the soul of a poet. In another life you were making music, or acting or directing-- weren't you, my man?

LA-LA LAND RECORDS RELEASES EXPANDED AND REMASTERED “THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH” LIMITED EDITION SOUNDTRACK (2-CD SET).

    COMPOSED BY DAVID ARNOLD

La-La Land Records, Universal Music Special Markets, EON Productions and Metro Goldwyn Mayer proudly present the remastered and expanded 2-CD re-issue release of the original motion picture score to the 1999 feature film THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 007, Sophie Marceau and Robert Carlyle, and directed by Michael Apted. Renowned composer David Arnold (QUANTUM OF SOLACE, CASINO ROYALE, DIE ANOTHER DAY, TOMORROW NEVER DIES) fashions a tremendous musical work -- his second in the James Bond canon. It’s an epic score that keeps breathless pace with James Bond himself, musically matching all of the film’s globe-spanning adventure, drama, romance and suspense with sophistication and excitement. As he began with TOMORROW NEVER DIES, Arnold continues to push the contemporary edge of the score, whilst honoring the series’ classic musical legacy.

Remastered and expanded, with previously unreleased music, this 2-CD deluxe presentation showcases Arnold’s score in stellar fashion. Among this re-issue’s unreleased treasures are two early song demos performed by the composer. The official title song, performed by Garbage, is also contained in this program. Produced by David Arnold and Neil S. Bulk, and mastered by Doug Schwartz, from original stereo digital tapes provided by MGM, this special release is limited to 5000 units and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Tim Greiving, which include new comments from the composer and famed Bond lyricist Don Black as well as director Apted. Dan Goldwasser’s sharp art design, based on the original US poster for the film, ties up this must-have release in precise and classy fashion.

THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH limited edition 2-CD set retails at $29.98 and is exclusively available at www.lalalandrecords.com, 007store.com, and other online soundtrack boutiques.

Lovely track. He can still make a terrific Bond score if EON wants him back at some point.

I agree. You just don't lose your skill as a composer.

People have complained he doesn't do feature films anymore, well, I have an answer for that: THAT'S COZ MOST OF THE INTERESTING STORY-TELLING IS BEING DONE ON THE SMALL SCREEN!!!!

This man gets Barry, and understands Barry was the Master-- he is merely the student. This man gets Bond. And this man can do 25 just as well today (as heard by his contemporary output), as he did back in '08 (his best Bond score to date; and he's obviously grown since then, as he grew through each of his own Bond compositions)

No doubt the small screen is more interesting than ever before. I actually prefer a limited series to films any day of the week (Bond an exception, of course). No wonder actors, composers and directors turn to producing content for Netflix, Amazon etc. It's close to a golden age for the small screen we're experiencing.

Sherlock is a big series too – especially in terms of popularity, so David Arnold is producing music for what is really one of the best gigs around. And he (along with Michael Price) has been doing great work on Sherlock since season one.
  • Fantastic! Everything you could ask for and more. Most excited for: Gun Barrel / Bond Has Left the Building, Snow Business, Going Down - The Bunker (extended), Orbis Non Sufficit, and the David Arnold vocal demos (he's actually pretty good at singing).

This is my happiest day. I love this score, and love the sound (ha!) of this release.

What's "Orbis Non Sufficit"? (as in the track, not the phrase :P )

Please don't ban me when I say I just read the news and I came.

    Came to feel tremendously excited.

Okay, I like the DAD score, but I bought it less out of passion and more as an investment and endorsement of the idea of expanded Bond scores, but I have to say I love the TWINE score!

Random stuff that comes to mind reading the tracklist (geekness alert-- proceed with caution):
    - Bond Has Left the Building-- great title!
    - Show Me the Money and Come in 007, Your Time Is Up remain separate. I'll stick with my joined version!
    - I was just listening to Balloon like two days ago and thinking it would be so lovely to hear it in high quality in an official release. And here it is! I love the music when Bond is rolling down the Millennium Dome, and that dramatic four-note horn phrase that brings the music to an end.
    - Welcome to Baku (film version). Oh, yes! I prefer it without the female voice, so bring it on!
    - Casino Jazz. Lovely. We need more lounge music in Bond these days.
    - Sub Gets It. Nice! Also, amusing to notice a certain pattern in track names... Antonov Gets It, Moneypenny Gets It, Sub Gets It... Christmas Gets It, Jinx Gets It, Graves Gets It, Renard Gets It, Elektra Gets It, Balloon Gets It, etc. etc.
    - Gun Barrel... that's not right. One word, please! Interested in the "separate elements". Maybe they stitched together several cues for the film and here they are presented separately from the rest of the bank scene music? Or maybe we are talking about isolated multitrack stems?

Fantastic! Everything you could ask for and more. Most excited for: Gun Barrel / Bond Has Left the Building, Snow Business, Going Down - The Bunker (extended), Orbis Non Sufficit, and the David Arnold vocal demos (he's actually pretty good at singing).
He is indeed. Looking forward to all those cues!

Always had a soft spot for the TWINE soundtrack. It's just so fun and exciting. This track in particular (the brassy bit at 1:02 is brilliant!):

Might have to get that expanded score.

I do sort of wish it is an alternate version to that of the single release.

I prefer the theatrical version to that of the commercial version. Because it has more brasses and they're louder as heard in the opening titles.
