Bond Fans of the World Unite! (4K Anniversary Screenings in San Francisco)

I'm not sure we have a thread specifically for Bond fan meet-ups, so this can be a place for everyone to share their stories of meeting fellow Bond fans around the world. (If such a thread exists already, mods, feel free to move this there.)

I visited Barcelona this past week and thanks to a recommendation by @ggl007 shared a beer with Joan (Joe-ahn), the president of Archivo 007. We met right around the corner from the Sagrada Familia and had a great conversation about everything from Bond 25 to the history and future of Archivo. Gotta say it was pretty awesome sharing a cerveza with a fellow Bond fan in a foreign country on a beautiful summer day. Joan gave me a copy of Archivo's second annual magazine (though I'm sorry to say I don't understand a lick of Spanish beyond your basic muy bien and buenos dias) and invited me to Archivo's 007th annual Convencion next summer. I'm not sure yet if our dates will align but I'm already planning a future 2-week tour through Spain and Portugal. Hopefully I can join Archivo and Bond fans from throughout Spain for their numerically significant next Convencion. (I also have to say thanks to Joan for directing me to the freshest, best tasting seafood I've had in my life—Barcelona is quite the place!)

I'm hoping I'll meet many more Bond fans on my future travels around the world. There are a number of countries on my to-visit list, but I'm open to suggestions!

Cool story! Spain does seem to have a very nice and well-organized Bond community.

I like how every other palabra you wrote was in Spanish. Buen touch!

Thanks, @Some_Kind_Of_Hero ! We celebrate our Convention since 2013 and this year it will be our VIth.

Our more international meeting was in 2016 when we had a premiere of A Bond for Life, the great Bond documentary by Benjamin Lind, in support of UNICEF.

You are all invited to our VIth Convention: https://www.archivo007.com/index.php/noticias/eventos/2662-vi-convencion-entradas-a-la-venta

I hope you enjoy the magazine (try google translator ;) or ask me what you want, of course!).

Somewhere a thread such as that exists. Anyone remember where? @Creasy47 ? @Dragonpol ?

It does exist. I think it was a @barryt007 thread. I'll have a look.

Seems we had a few, as I woke up to three different 'Where are you from/let's meet up' type threads bumped. Hopefully it pans out for you guys!

Do we plan something tentatively for the production press conference in March?

So I am thinking March 1st 2018 at the Drake Hotel, Toronto around noon. By this time the press conference should already be finished and we can discuss the upcoming film as well as our own Bond history.

As a pre-warm up to this meeting: I just bought tickets for CASINO ROYALE IN CONCERT for the Friday Oct 12...

Is anyone going? We can meet for drinks beforehand? I'll be with my own Bond Girl, if you're interested in putting away some martinis with us beforehand??

One last shout out: Anyone from Toronto going to the CASINO ROYALE IN CONCERT tonight? If so PM me-- I will be there with my Bond girl, having a martini at the bar by 7 (Richard Crouse is also doing a behind the scenes starting at 630 (just a tad too early for us)).
  • This sounds great, and I’m sure they will play “Crawl, End Crawl.” Unfortunately, there’s little chance I’ll be free that weekend, so I’ll hold off on getting a ticket for now. Great idea though and I hope others enjoy.
  • I'll check it out & see what my schedule looks like...

Bay Area Members. Four Tet, who did the closing CRAWL for QOS is doing two shows at The Great American Music Hall in February in San Francisco. Advance tickets are only $10, so it might be worth checking out. It is a great venue (as the name states). Anyone interested? We can grab dinner and drinks too. @BeatlesSansEarmuffs , @Revelator , @Some_Kind_Of_Hero , or anyone else ?

    Hmmm. That's a maybe.

If all goes well, I'm going to be in Tysons Corner, Virginia for an event from March 15th-17th. I'm planning to take a week either side of that (so, 9th to 23rd) to stay with friends in Maryland and explore Washington. Anyone in that part of the world fancy meeting up?

That is VERY close to me, @Agent_99.

If I'm in town it would be great to gather with whoever's available for food and drink. Birdwatching at the Air & Space Museum. Whatever's planned.

Pretty close to me too, but still hours away and I doubt I can make it in. Do have fun.

'Pretty close but still hours away' is such a US thing :) Hope we can catch up some other time, @Creasy47!

It is funny. Aside form a few excursions abroad, having lived in the US my entire life, on both coasts, so I have known distance; and I do consider anyone within a few hours of me nearby and close enough to hang out with occasionally.

Good point, exactly, especially when I'm used to talking to so many people here from England, Japan, and beyond, so a few hours really does seem quite manageable.

If I'm travelling more than a couple of hours to see someone, I usually expect to stay the night at least!

Update: flying in to Dulles on Saturday 9th March, flying home on Saturday 23rd March. The first week will probably be best for doing DC things.

Met my first fellow forum member today. @RichardTheBruce .

Just found the microphone and tracker he planted on me, and flushed them down the toilet. Better luck next time, America!

Too late to request you return those items to me on our next meeting, I guess.

Very fortunate so far this year to meet two local heroes of the board @Agent_99 and now @Thunderfinger. Lovely people. The finest.

    Anybody live in Denver?
