Something that I decided to do for fun may bring up some interesting discussion.

In the list below is the age of the actor playing Bond in each film, along with the age of the lead female (Bond girl) and the difference between them. They bring some results that many may not have expected.

Dr. No_________________________32 and 26........................6 years
From Russia With Love___________33 and 21........................12 years
Goldfinger______________________34 and 39........................-5 years
Thunderball____________________35 and 24........................11 years
You Only Live Twice_____________37 and 23........................14 years
On Her Majesty's Secret Service____30 and 31........................-1 year
Diamonds Are Forever____________41 and 31........................10 years
Live And Let Die_________________45 and 22........................23 years
The Man With The Golden Gun_____46 and 32........................14 years
The Spy Who Loved Me____________49 and 29........................20 years
Moonraker_______________________51 and 32........................19 years
For Your Eyes Only________________53 and 23........................30 years
Octopussy_______________________55 and 38........................17 years
A View To A Kill__________________57 and 29........................28 years
The Living Daylights______________41 and 26........................15 years
Licence To Kill___________________43 and 27.......................16 years
GoldenEye_______________________42 and 25........................17 years
Tomorrow Never Dies_____________44 and 35........................9 years
The World Is Not Enough__________46 and 28........................18 years
Die Another Day__________________49 and 35........................14 years
Casino Royale____________________38 and 26........................12 years
Quantum Of Solace_______________40 and 28........................12 years
Skyfall___________________________44 and 33.........................11 years
Spectre__________________________47 and 30.........................17 years
No Time To Die__________________51 and 34.........................17 years

Who would have thought Tatiana Romanova was the youngest girl in the films, or that the largest gap is between Bond and Melina - a staggering 30 years?! Yet that was far more believable to me than what we got in A View To A Kill.

Thats an interesting list with some surprises ...having watched them all recently and casting my mind back some of the age differences listed here are certainly not noticable on the screen ...was certainly surprised of the gap between Bond and Melina !!

The funny thing is that the age gap that you'd think would be creepy--LALD--is somehow not. Is it because Moore is at his youngest?

None of the ladies was younger than 20. I think from there on it's neither perverted nor sick. Bond is never to be thought of as this old, filthy man anyway. No matter what the actor’s real age is, I try to think of Bond as somewhere between 35 and 45. For a quick flirt with a Bond girl, that doesn’t strike me as nasty. ;;) Respect for Honor though. A unique case by all means.

If include Moneypenny, on OHMSS Bond-George Lazenby 29 , Moneypenny - Lois Maxwell 42. :-D

But no serious doing it ever ensued between those two. Not that I'm aware of at least. ;;)

i think Lois Maxwell is too old to flirt with Lazenby's Bond. She was like a Cougars chasing teenagers in that movie, IMO btw :-D

Total age of the people in the picture... 333 years @-)

I figure if the age gap is a bigger number than the girls actual age... it could maybe be viewed as a tad creepy....

For Your Eyes Only 53 and 23 30 years
Surprisingly, this only happened to Roger Moore once! :D And came close a bunch of other times
But hey, 'Moore' power to him!

I always thought Connery always looked a lot older than his female leads (with a few exceptions). Tatiana always seemed a bit too young for him. Pussy or Tiffany seemed more age appropriate for him.

Britt Eklund certainly seemed a lot younger than 32. But then Melina seemed a lot more mature than her age. While Moore on the other hand, up through FYEO could still pass for about 40. So as long as the actors "look" the part and act it well, then it works. Think of all the teenage high school tv shows, where all the actors are in their late 20's....

I too was surprised at some of the actresses ages- particularly Pussy Galore- I always knew she wasn't a 'girl' but I never realized she was older than Connery!

@Master_Dahark She still looked great next to him though. She looked better at that age than many other Bond girls.

No doubt! Had the major hots for her

That's my main complaint when I watched Glee... Still an entertaining series though.

Haha, yeah that's exactly what I was thinking too. Especially the Puck character.

Though I can't think of any Bond girls that really looked "past their prime" Most just look too</> young

The point at which 007 is comfortably old enough to be a Bond Girl's Dad is when it gets creepy!!

    ["Octopussy 55 and 38 27 years "]

Moore and Adams were 17.5 years apart in age.

Right you are, fixed. Thanks @DRush76.

Now if only I could fix the formatting...
  • Great list @Samuel. I figure I'd bring it back. Looking at some of these Bond would come off as a dirty old man in some of his films haha.

    Craig is 43.

Not sure who the SF leading lady is, but Naomi Harris is 35 (8 years) and Berenice Marlohe is 32 (11 years).

This should narrow the age difference gap a bit.

Nice research Sam. Thanks for getting it all down on paper (cyber-paper) Most of us could do it too, but you stepped up and did the work. Bravo.
As I have suspected for quite some time, Moore and Carol Bouquet present the biggest cringe gap. 53 vs 23. No wonder the filmmakers toned down any implied shagging between these two. Smart move.
Oldest Bond-girl is Honor Blackman at 39. Maud Adams runner-up at 38.

There may have been a big age gap in FYEO but I have never felt uncomftable watching Moore and Bouquet together, it seemed to work within the story.

Agreed, and honestly Bouquet didn't LOOK that young. Maybe it's because of her height? But I'd have pinned her for at least late 20's.

Also, awesome list. I love how the two movies where Bond and the girl are closest in age have the girl older than Bond. XD

We probably have to believe that Bond was around early to mid 40s and Melina late 20s in FYEO. Difficult I know

Funny though, Bouquet is only a year older than Lynn-Holly Johnson, the girlie Bond wants to buy an ice-cream. Wouldn't have thought so, never.

    Interesting list, @Samuel001.
The biggest difference is 30 years between Sir Roger and Carole Bouquet, and the smallest (absolute) difference is between Lazenby and Diana Rigg. Not surprised Sir Roger has the biggest difference record, knowing he was Bond until his late 50s.

Indeed, they don't look same age. I think Bouquet looked more mature for her age.

EDIT: My formatting is correct in my post, yet on the forum it looks horrible. Any idea why?
Any length of whitespace is being is being interpreted as a single space character, that's why the formatting of your post doesn't work. Try to use dots or underscores instead of spaces, it will look much better.

That's cause nobody wanted a Bond girl in her 50's, lol
Maybe one day though-- if they found the right woman who was 'up there'-- like a Demi Moore type, you know someone who's aged really well. Could be a cool new thing to try! Something edgy and new
Christian Troy hooked up with women older than him all the time on Nip/Tuck and (most of the time) is was still pretty hot

*edit- hell they could even bring back Famke Janssen in a different role-- she's pushing 50 and still looks like she did in GoldenEye!!

Demi Moore hasn't aged well, Demi Moore has paid well her plastic surgeons.

    No arguments there.
  • I think Helen McCrory has still got it and she's in her 40's; here's to hoping she'll have at least some flirting scenes with Craig!

That was definitely the reason for why they brought back Maud Adams, to "narrow" the age gap by a little bit. Mind you, some women are quite old and still look pretty sexy as well, so I don't mind one bit if they decide to cast older women in the future.
