The first trailer for Jeremy Renner's The Bourne Legacy has arrived:

Right now its only on apple, but give it an hour and you can find it on YouTube:
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/universal/thebournelegacy/

Renner stars as a new character in the Bourne franchise, as the series diverts from Damon's trilogy.

HEY! He's sporting facial hair in the trailer too!

Thanks @JWESTBROOK. Been intrigued by this movie.

    Here it is on youtube:

The thing I particularly enjoyed about the Bourne films (especially the first two) was the weather beaten, gritty European scenery of city's like Paris, Prague, Moscow and Berlin in winter time. It was really unique, I loved it. I don't think this one even takes place in Europe at all. Hmmm. Not very impressed so far.

I don't know what to say. I was actually thinking of maybe watching the first Bourne today to remind myself on how good of a movie it was. Looking at this... I don't have the words. Don't really have negative nor positive feelings about this. It's just a trailer, but I felt unmoved by it :/

Same here. Actually, not seeing anything that reminds me of a European setting, this feels more like a trailer to a tv-series, in the spirit of shows like Homeland etc.
  • In class, so can't watch the trailer now, but the poster is pretty BA. Glad the brought the old logo back for this poster.

Lame rip-off of Bond when Renner runs across the corridor while being machine-gunned... like the scene in CR in the embassy when Bond has to push Mollaka in the corridor...... Bourne copies Bond now....

Pretty sure Bond isn't the only one who gets shot at...

As far as the trailer.. the blaring trumpets stood out to me. Hopefully the film follows a similar score.

It confirmd a litle bit prison break feeling i thaught earlier it going to be with the casting actor from this tv series. But with Tony Gilroy (the writer of the 3 earlier movies/writer-directer of Duplicity and thriller Michael Clayton ) as directer i hoped on more something like the first movie with the plot it having now.

Atleast a fair poster and trailer showing the violence. So mabey the final result is better . Big difrence with the trailer of Casino Royale, who give the idea it going to be another Twine/not so violence as the movie be. In specialy for the cinema, for Bourne don't go to the cinema.

And the shot after that, they rip-off MI:4! Looks a lot like the Russian Jailbreak scene from that movie.

From the trailer, I'm not impressed. Looks really cheap, and feels a lot like a Tv-movie!

Hopefully, the finished product will be better

Another thing: No Weisz in the trailer? Unless she is the 'doctor' that says "Thats healed really well.. blah blah"

In August. It finishes this month.

Skyfall's teaser will be in May. You can bet on that and only have to look at past Bond's to find the pattern. The teaser poster on the other hand, may arrive next month.

NOOOOOOO! Unbelievable. They just had to do a story involving another agent, didn't they?! I expected more from you Tony Gilroy. I have no positive emotions. A Bourne film is a film with Bourne! It's Matt or nothing, so I guess it'll be nothing.

Richard Chamberlain would beg to differ :P

We've known this for ages. Have you just found out?

On the plus side, Cross looks like a Bourne 2.0, even stronger, the next level of agent from a different programme.

This is not what i thought? It's a action flick with the word Bourne in the title? What's that all about? I have not read anything on this so assumed that Renner was the NEW Jason Bourne! What a cop out!

That's like Eon making a Bond movie with Felix Leiter in it and no James Bond! And have Leiter do all the things that Bond does! That's such a big letdown! [-X

I don't mind a new operative in role. Judging by the movie's name it's about what changes Bourne brought with him in the last three movies. It's about what his legacy is. I'm just a tad bit worried that it will be just the same old same old. The trailer seems to have Renner's character gone rogue. But maybe that's just the legacy Bourne left ; more operatives coming to their senses that what they've been made to give is just wrong. Then the good bad guys start hunting this operative gone rogue... Or so it would seem by the trailer. The same ole same ole, but just with a new guy.
It could be just as good as the previous three. I mean I liked all of them. Very solid trilogy if you ask me. Not sure about this one, not because of the new guy, but because it feels like it has been done before in the Damon flicks.

Well, I got a little tired of it all by the second film. No doubt this will just be like the last three but that's nothing new.

Bourne is the best, that's the point and why there shouldn't be any more films! The ending to Ultimatum was perfect! Up yours Hollywood, and especially Tony Gilroy.

It's Universal's fault. They were going to continue this series anyway, then Gilroy presented them with an idea and they said "yes please!".

So many series' are now getting up there in the sequel numbers, even to five or six films. I long for the days when one had to be earned.

The next film may be a Bourne and Cross tag-team...

I'll be watching this most probably. I am interested where they take this story and another decent spy-actioner is always welcome.

It looks ok I suppose, but I'd rather they'd got damon back or left it alone. At least alot of the original characters are back. I'll give this one a shot, but I hope they actually get the REAL bourne back in the future.

And they didn't have to call this "the bourne legacy" did they??? because I read that book and this looks like it has absoloutely nothing in common, bourne isn't even there for f***s sake. They should've just called it "the treadstone legacy" or something. They're definetly just milking it now. But like I said, if this gets damon to come back THEN I'll be happy.

Movies are movies, and books are books. Of course they would use that title even if it strays away from the actual book. Not like Bond hasn't done this. I hear TSWLM is much different than the book, rather having been told from a first person perspective of a woman It's the only novel I haven't read... mainly because I wanted to move forward with the main plot that was going on rather than reading some erotic Bond novel from a female perspective :P

I agree, but the plot is supposedly involving how Bourne's decisions affect this Cross operative, therefore, Bourne's legacy that he left behind him. You probably already realize this. I wouldn't mind seeing both Jeremy and Matt team up in the future for both Bourne and Cross to finish off these agencies altogether. I'm confused though. We see Pam, but Noah is there too. So is this set between Identity and Supremacy? Noah would be in jail if it was post Ultimatum. And Pam turned on Jason's side, so why would anyone trust her again? Does anyone know about the timeline of the film here?
  • I'm in. Looks pretty sweet. Can't wait to see how eh tie it all in. Plus, Renner is the man.

Renner is the man for sure, but the blatant references to the previous Bourne films leave me slightly appalled.
  • I wonder how many more bourne movie's will follow legacy. Liked the first movie, the two that followed the editing put me off.
