I find it difficult to understand how a mediocre director like Renny Harlin who directed Cliffhanger, could have been approached to do Golden Eye. It was to our advantage that he didn't but his passing comments on Timothy Dalton not quite being Bond sounded like he didn't get Bond. Dalton brought in a Bond image quite close to Ian Fleming's book character, representing a harder edged and more strategic Bond.

I personally think that Daniel Craig has done a better job with Golden Eye (which came out as a recent computer game]. This version sheds off some of the clichés that were brought in the 1995 film. Personally, I don't think of Renny to be much of an influential celebrity, nevertheless Bond did change in 1995 which had quite a marmite effect on the audience.
