Ok..the villain has been defeated and M is on the line to congratulate Bond just as he's about to get the girl...

What's your favourite last moment?

Me? I still hoot when Q says 'I think he's attempting re-entry' in MR.....

Many Moore (more)....

Your favourites?

FRWL and Thunderball are quite good. I also like TSWLM's ending.

I enjoy the ending of CR, as well as FRWL. Another is QoS. It has a sense of sadness in it a little, but we see Bond able to move on in a really special scene following the brilliant Yusef interrogation.

Definitely the last moment of TB with the spectacular airplane/skyhook rescue of Bond and Domino. Even more so with John Barry's dramatic original end titles score instead of the replay of DN's rendition of the James Bond theme that appears to be the only version available on current DVDs.

    Honorable mention to:

YOLT where Bond and Kissy are rudely interrupted by M's submarine.
    TMWTGG-"Goodnight? Goodnight?" "Goodnight, sir."
TLD-A very romantic happy ending for Bond and Kara in her dressing room.
    CR'06-"The name's Bond. James Bond."

GoldenEye- "What are you doing here Wade? Is this your idea of coming through in a clinch?"

Tomorrow Never Dies- "Let's stay undercover." :-j

    Octopussy- "Oh James!" (epic saxophone!)

Live and Let Die- "HAHAHAHAHA!" 8-X

From Russia with Love- "All government property must be accounted for."

I liked LALD with Baron Samedi (the man who could never die) riding the train and laughing.

CR with the way he shot Mr. White and said, "The names Bond..."

TLD or LALD. QoS was very good as well.

For all of Quantum's faults it did have a good ending.

    Can't beat TSWLM though :)

However I do like GE's ending. "Darling, what could possibly go wrong, hey? Those words are quite ironic now sadly.
  • Always Dr No ending scene. I was privileged to read a few Fleming's books before Dr No was filmed. It was a thrill to see Dr No on the screen and James Bond in flesh.

    TMWTGG-"Goodnight? Goodnight?" "Goodnight, sir."

My least favorite film but my favorite last line is TMWTGG.

The waving bothers me in FRWL. The keyring in TLD is just a little too cute.

    CR is iconic.

LALD and QoS have great last scenes.

FYEO (Am I the only one who likes this one???)
    TLD
    TND
    Dr. No

    CR

When I saw that scene in the theatre for the first time, I certainly wasn't ready to leave yet.

FYEO (Am I the only one who likes this one???)

No, I like it as well. I like them swimming in silhouette amongst the underwater ruins. Its classy.

Diamonds is another good one. The Bonds have mainly good satisfying last scenes.

Forget The Iron Lady. The best portrayal of MT is in FYEO ;) Although I will admit the last time I saw that a couple of months back I was squirming.

Someone above mentioned TND and I must say I agree. I like David Arnold's romantic melody in that one.

Octopussy anyone? "In out, in out" and Moore's plastered leg rising as he kisses Maud Adams :))

Winking waterspouting fibreglass fish!! - a sentence I never thought I would ever write. lol :-)

  • It's unfortunate that they chose to spoil License To Kill which was for the most part a gritty and serious Bond adventure with that stupid winking fish bit at the Sanchez Residence. Each time I see it I think what a poor decision it was to include it, it's as if the whole seriousness of the story before it is made redundant in one instance by a stupid bit aimed at six year olds, all they had to do was omit it from the final cut

Moving on and favorite last scene?, as in final scene, well maybe if I think about it possibly the Baron on the speeding train in Live and Let Die, a number of Bond endings have been lame if I think about it now, such ones as Moore's swansong or the awful (ending of) The World Is Not Enough, the least said the better really. For Your Eyes Only gets a mention too as it has a fun bit with the British PM of the time and Moore and Bouquet go swimming, it has the parrot too who would make another appearance in Daylights six years later

    1. OHMSS - a true classic moment
    2. CR - Dan finally says the line
    3. MR - Desmond delivers one of the funniest lines in the franchise
    4. TSWLM - Roger kept the British end up
    5. TLD - Timmy shows his romantic side with Kara.

    Honorable mentions:
LALD - Baron Samedi says goodbye to the audience.
    QOS - Dan never left.

You Only Live Twice is good as well, in fact, there aren't many that don't work. Only The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day spring to mind when thinking of that.

Really struggling on this one! Absolutelt love the end of LALD as its my favourite film as it was the first one i saw.
I also love the end of CR! Just brilliant!
Also OHMSS. What a powerful ending!

Poor old Brosnan deserved a good ending, but never got one.
QOS was so lame, they had paste the gunbarrel behind it.
CR sort of exciting.. but since his love died, not picknick either..
So it is up to the old ones.. TSWLM springs to mind as the best way to end the movie.

CR, QoS and Skyfall would all be in my top 5. A variety of cool, deep/reflective, and promising ends to such fantastic films.

GF with bond wrapped in a parachute with Pussy Galore
    TMWTGG "Goodnight, sir" Moore's best.
OHMSS That ending is an all time classic. Instead of our super hero in the sunset with his leading lady he is left craddling his murdered bride. Powerful.
  • Has a whole calendar year gone by since a last mention of this, where does the time go to ?

I don't have a favorite ending, in that there's been some really good ones over the years, and I couldn't pick out one outstanding release or memory, above all others

Live and Let Die for sure, On Her Majestys Secret Service would be another, even Golden Gun come to think of it, even the awful banal Chiles in Moonraker, simply because of the 'I think he's attempting re-entry Sir" inclusion

But there's been some truly bad ones over the years also we should remember

TMWTGG - Nick Nack looking at camera in basket

    QoS - sadness agin, there.
