Pretty decent list. Having just rewatched Thunderball, I don't see how it can rank so highly.
I love the movie's atmosphere and humour, mainly. The Bahamas are greatly explored, love the Shrublands scenes and so on. And I appreciate the underwater scenes a lot - which many rate boring, but to me it adds a lot to the mentioned atmosphere.

Also: Best SPECTRE meeting, awesome cast, second-best Felix Leiter actor, great soundtrack. Fionas death alone is such a great scene, the shark pool and so on and so on. The movie just "feels" right (to me).

I agree with all of that. It's pure Bonds and was my number one for years. Sums up my love for TB as well. Now I would agree with those that the missile stealing/ Angelo sequence does slow down the pace a tad. But the film quickly picks up afterwards.
TB is one great sequence after another- a huge Bond film that doesn't go overboard on the ridiculous, though it could have crossed that line. Sean is the king of cool throughout.

If I watched those scenes in isolation, yes it's great. But to watch the whole film from beginning to end is a bore

Agreed. It's firmly planted at my #2, and is highly unlikely to change from that position. A spectacular Bond film.

The Bond franchise is special. With other franchises there is mostly a general consensus which films are the best and which the worst.

With Bond that's different. There is not one single film that ends up at the top most of the times. That spot has to be shared by several films.
And even those who end up a lot somewhere at the bottom have many fans that will put it in the middle or even in a Top 10.

I thought it might be interesting to post my ranking "number of watches". As I have an excel diary with everything I have watched since the late 90's it was easy to make this ranking.
In brackets you'll see how many times I have watched it.

Jason Bond's Bond ranking of number of watches since 1999 including cinema viewings since 1987.

    1 TLD (57)
    2 GE (54)
    3 TND (52)
    4 OP (50)
    5 AVTAK (48)
    6 LTK (47)
    7 TB (45)
    8 DAD (43)
    9 GF (40)
    9 MR (40)
    11 TWINE (38)
    12 DN (35)
    13 FYEO (34)
    14 TSWLM (30)
    15 OHMSS (28)
16 CR (25) will go considerably up as I watch it up to 4 times a year now
    16 FRWL (25)
    18 YOLT (24)
    19 LALD (22)
19 DAF (22) will go considerably up as it is my new favourite guilty pleasure
19 QOS (22) will go considerably up as I now watch it regularly, up to 4 times a year
22 SP (18) will go considerably up, certainly into the Top 10 if not Top 5
    23 NSNA (13)
    24 TMWTGG (12)
25 SF (9) even if new, no dice climbing up this ranking

Blimey! I don't think I've seen any Bond film more than 20 times!

    That is dedication!
Being a fan is certainly different for everyone. That seems like a lot of viewings, plus the dedication to have noted all of them. But then you can see others in the Bondathon thread who have probably racked up that many viewings this year alone.

SP and possibly SF would be the only two I've seen less than thirty times. I'm sure by now I've caught SF at least 15-20 times, if not more.

Same for me. I'd say QoS and maybe DAD I've seen under 30 times myself. DR NO, OP, TLD and LTK are Bond films I'm pretty sure I'm well into triple digits. GF and TB are probably around 100 as well.
Once TLD was released on VHS in March of 1988, I watched it every 2 weeks until LTK opened. I probably average 4 times per year for TLD.

    3.) Thunderball
    4.) Dr. No
    5.) Quantum of Solace
    6.) Spectre
    7.) Skyfall
8.) On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
    9.) Licence to Kill
    10.) The Living Daylights

    16.) You Only Live Twice
    17.) Live and Let Die
    18.) Diamonds Are Forever

    21.) Tomorrow Never Dies
    22.) Moonraker
    23.) A View To a Kill
    24.) Die Another Day

It's quite taxing ranking these movies, as some could be swapped day to day. I'll be interested to see how I rank all of them after I revisit each during the Bondathon.

Yes, part of the fun is seeing how your tastes change from ranking to ranking. I try not to update mine too often. Usually once a year.

Taste definitly changes throughout the time. Is there a general topic about this in the forum? Would be interesting to see how things changed for forum members. For example I really loved YOLT in my younger years but today I find it rather boring and foolish. Live and let die was never a favourite - today it's Moore's best film for my taste. And since CR and Craig in general I really lost most interest in the "lighter" Bond movies at a whole. Besises my all-time Top 2 a lot has changed in Top 3-10 for me during the past 15-20 years.

Starting with CR I became a 100% Bond fan again - and it lead me to re-read all of the novels again and appreciate them definitely more than I ever did before.

Love Mathis. I wish he stuck around longer.

If they ever go back to Fleming in a big way, I'd love to see Mathis brought back as he is in the books. A great reason to get Bond to France, too.

Yep, it's not doing it for me so much anymore. Koskov, Whitaker, the Cello case sled scene, the dragging along in Afghanistan and bad humor just ruin an otherwise standard Bond film for me.

I too have lost a lot of interest in TLD. It starts of incredibly but really drops off during Afghanistan. Too much action and not enough suspense imho. I much prefer LTK.

You have to see it from the other side:
    - Excellent Bond intro and PTS
    - Koskov defection
    - Safehouse infiltration and Green 4 fight
    - Car chase
    - Pushkin interrogation
    - Cargo net fight
    - I'll include the Bond/Saunders relationship which I've grown to like, it's more fleshed out than many of the other allies.
    - The score of course

But I can understand John Glen humour is very misplaced, sometimes funny (eg. in OP) but inappropriate in TLD, and how it can ruin the movie for some.

It's an easy 1st place for me. Although this year's Bondathon OHMSS may displace it
