Bond actors who embraced the role

So from what I have read about Daniel Craig it seems like he doesn't fully embrace the Bond role.
I love him don't get me wrong but I can't see Craig attending Bond fan conventions like say Roger or Lazenby, when he's in his 60s-80s.
I feel like previous Bond actors considered themselves to be Bond on and off screen... Craig seems to leave it all
in the studio and during production and afterwards he's completely different and kinda avoids it.

I understand he's just an actor acting. I have acted for 12 years. I know how it is. I wasn't sure how many of the
actual Bond actors acted like Bond off the screen? Dressing wise, car wise;etc?

Lazenby, Moore and Brosnan have attended many Bond events but I don't think that should be a measure of how much you embrace the role.

On set Craig appears to have studied the character with Mendes. It's not like he was sitting around waiting for a paycheck like Connery in his later Bonds. He was not being serious with his wrists comment despite the media witchhunt

I think it's because while Craig likes the role he doesn't love the character.

Pierce loved James Bond and the fantasy world he was living in. When i heard Pierce speaking about Bond he did it with pride he loved having all these women, enjoyed driving the cars a d had fun being Bond.

While both have given a great performance as Bond they have very different opinions on the character.

And the literary character is not someone to be loved either. Dalton perhaps brought out that aspect the best with his "if he fires me" line.

But cinematic Bond has been so different between and even with the same actor that the only bits retained are martinis, girls, and style

Yes I know, that fantasy beloved character was modified for the cinemmatic Bond and is great they did. That way the were able to keep going after the books ended.
ive always prefred the cinemmatic Bond and i think that's the Bond Pierce loved and embraced completely.

Yeah it's weird I feel like Pierce and Connery actually felt like they were Bond off set.
Craig however he seems a bit distant from it, he works really hard dives into the role and then when it's over he's out. He won't mention him in the media or even remotely talk about it..

The fact that people took one little quote from an interview and turned it into "I hate James Bond" is ridiculous. I am sure he doesn't hate the role but the fact that he turned down millions for a new contract says a lot. He's mentally and physically tired. I can speak from experience, theater is low key and fun. Filming a huge blockbuster action film is so stressful and tiring and injury prone.

Connery is the best Bond but he was nothing like Bond off set. Working class, less sophisticated, grumpy, allegedly a woman beater (and admitted this on TV to a certain extent), bald, tattooed, fairly unapproachable rather than naturally charming. As I said Connery is amazing as Bond and I don't care what he is/ was like off screen, but he certainly isn't Bond, he was acting. Moore is the person who has natural charm and charisma rather than 'acting the part'.

I think Roger Moore has embraced it the most from what i have seen.

Agree, Roger seemed to revel in playing Bond, and also seemed to enjoy
Selling the movies. Even after leaving he still acted as an ambassador
helping to sell the Bond films. =D>

Other than the fact that he kept threatening to leave to negotiate 'Moore' cash that is.

Okay I'm sorry but embracing a role has nothing to do with acting or living like that character off-screen, and Craig has embraced the role as much as he possibly could have in the acting department, even when you might be tempted to say we have too much formation origin stories and 'character devlopemtn' going on to really get on with it, there are still so many nice character moments in his films where you get a sense of who Bond is and he did most of them justice.
