For now, a return to traditional Bond films instead of trying to make them all sequels of one another with personal connections and what not. That's not what Bond is about.

In my list earlier I forget to mention Bond in his naval uniform - we've only seen it three times.

Better plots, less character generally speaking.

Bond 25 in May 2018 (Next year of course, but that wil never happen..) and Bond 26 in 2019 or 2020 (with Bond 25 in 2018)

Various mix of cars, Bondgirls and locations (No Astin Martin please!)
    Another composer
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson presents...

If Bond 27 already be possible to be made after the discovery of real terrible truth (Directer almoost rated...), then focus should be on solo missions, gadgets, gamble and that kind of things. But it is possible, if focus be less then only England. For example that sugestion i did before about making plot about England and Arabic part of United Nation stil standing. I sitl think there can mix this up with Water plot, that terrible truth.

A bit like where England and Turkey strike together against the Russian's in FRWL or England and India against a villian of India in Octopussy or England and Russian strike against a villian of England as in Goldeneye or England and China as in Tomorrow Never Dies. Make a story where England, America (Felix) AND the middle east & Germany strike against spirit of Eliot Carver, Dominic Green and Blofeld.

I want Bond to be situationally smart and clever, not just relying on Deus Ex Machina or his muscles alone. Would be cool to see Bond try to escape a situation with tools at his disposal, sort of like the escape scene in OHMSS. What really made that movie amazing is that you were rooting for Bond trying to get out of Piz, and his escape was tense.

They should spend more time on the villains and give them more personality (if the villains only have about 20 minutes of screen time it cannot be a good Bond film imo).
And the next Bond films should illustrate the villain's plan better (Don't just talk about it in five minutes in some conference room but show us what they are actually doing).
And finally concentrate on few locations and set pieces but really make use of them (Don't just move from one random place to the other but introduce us to the country Bond is in).

This was the problem I had with Spectre on 2nd and 3rd viewings.

Doctor Julius No and Ernst Stavro Blofeld from YOLT would like to have a word with you.

But on the whole you are right.

Anyway, things we want to return? We need Bond to look around his hotel room for bugs again. It just needs to happen.

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but I would like to see Bond go into M's office after the PTS and get an ordinary, non-personal assignment.

I don't argue that, but IMO the "This time it is personal"- angle has been beaten to Death since 1995 by now. A LTK type of Movie is fine every now and then, but not almost every time.

Yes, hear, hear. It's 'been personal' for Bond in LTK, GE, DAD, QOS and liberally speaking TWINE, CR, SF and SP. Enough.

I wouldn't put GoldenEye as Personal either. Sure Alec was Bond's friend but it was an Assignment like any other.

I wouldn't put TWINE and SF under liberally speaking at all. Both were extremely personal for M, which is essentially the same thing. And SP us inherently personal.

You are right, I just said that so that more people would agree. As for SP sometimes I like to forget entirely the brother connection...

"What's the matter, James? No glib remark? No pithy comeback?"
"You know, James and I shared everything."
"...the same six minutes you gave me... least I could do for a friend."
"He was your friend and now you will kill him."
"...Or if all the martinis silenced the screams of all the dead ones you failed to protect."
"You know, James? I was always better."
    "For England, James?"

You are entitled to your own opinion of course, but they do stretch the personal angle quite far. If not for later films stretching it further it would still be the second-most personal of them all after its predecessor.

Sounds like Alec is taking it personal, not Bond.

Only CR and TND get a semi pass, but the former becomes intensely personal and the latter ties Bond to the Main Villain by having the villain's wife be an ex-lover of Bond's.

Yes CR gets a bit of a pass because there's no personal element until the third act. And the personal element in TND is minor in the wider scope of the film.

But Bond is the one feeling the weight of these personal jibes, i.e. the jibe about the 'dead ones you failed to protect'. He feels it all during the graveyard scene. Bond is thinking about this himself as well during the beach scene. And the final scene on top of the cradle was catharsis for Bond.

The personal element in GE strengthened the film as opposed to bogging it down unlike SP but come on, it's personal for Bond in that mission.
  • Apologies if this has already been said, but if it has, let me emphasise it even further, we absolutely NEED a skiing scene in a Bond film again soon. I know I've heard things such as Craig not being too keen on doing one, but I personally hope to see Bond on ski's again as soon as possible. I really hoped we'd see it again in Spectre after seeing the early set photos of Bond in the snow.
  • Yes a ski chase would be very appreciable! Haven't had one since TWINE, haven't had a GOOD one since FYEO.

From what I recall, one of the early drafts had Bond chasing a henchwoman in a ski parkour.

More Bond films by the numbers

    Bond gets his mission
    Flirts a little with MoneyPenny
Visits Q for hisbgadgets and car
    Goes to his mission
    Meets the main Bond girl
    Party or Casino scene
Meets the other Bond girl sleeps with her
    Goes with his mission
    Meet the Villain fight him

Love scene with the main Bond girl

The end. James Bond will return

Of course all these with great chases, a good henchman, humor, exotic locations and everything which comes with James Bond.
And please since now on. I want teh films to be standalone no more one film connected to the next one.

    -2 year gaps

-Bond girls à la Goodnight and Honey Ryder

    -The USA as location

-a megalomaniac villain with a real plan à la Elliot Carver, Goldfinger, Drax or Zorin

-MI6 not behaving like a club of imbeciles

-colour and light and NO colour filters

San Francisco as a location. Done properly this time, taking in the atmosphere, like in Vertigo, and not sloppily like in AVTAK.

Oh yes! That's what I meant really.
Additionally they could do skiing action scenes in Aspen.

"avenging alec won't being him back, i don't want you running off on some personal vendetta"
    "you didn't get him killed"
"neither did you, don't take it personal"

"For englad james?" "no, for me!"

Goldeneye for me is as personal as it gets, thats what makes the fight at the end so great and actually the whole movie.
I'm afraid we will always have a personal story in some form from now on. Look at other contemporary movies, this is simply what the mainstream audience craves for atm.
I think they would have trouble understanding the Bond character or his motivations without that.
I don't necesserily like that, i'm just saying.
I would prefer mission based Bond

Hong Kong. It's a great city, and it's been a long while since it was done justice (the terrible CGI backdrop in DAD doesn't count).

Agreed. I'd love to see a sweet car chase similar to the one from 007 Agent Under Fire. But without the EMP car gadget.

  • A sword fight would be good. It was the best thing about DAD, IMO.
