It was like The Wild Wild West on acid. It was Bruce Campbell playing it relatively straight on a show that was off the wall. No question why it only lasted one season on FOX- like Firefly it was just TOO GOOD. At least they got to wrap things up & have an actual ride off into the sunset. Well, I'm about to do a marathon of it, and just wondered if there are any fans of it in these parts.

I used to watch the Wild, Wild West a lot so when this show was first coming out and I heard about it I was really excited to see it. I seem to remember an episode that had something to do with an orb....? My memory may be fuzzy because I was only about 6 or 7 at the time and was watching an episode at my Grandma's (my parents didn't have cable) so I never saw another episode but I seem to remember liking it.

I don't think we got this in the UK, or I just missed it completely, But I do remember an
old series, it was two shows together. One a Sci-fi with fighting women the other, a
period action set around the American war of independence ( I Think) with Bruce Campbell, which I loved, very funny. I think it may have been called " In like Jack " ?

@Thunderpussy That show was "Jack Of All Trades' and yeah, it was very funny. The show they attached it to was "Cleopatra 2525" and that was just an excuse for futuristic babes in skimpy costumes, or, as Bruce Campbell referred to it as, "Porn for 12 year olds." :))
Brisco County Jr. was a straight up 1993-4 adventure series with some rather fantastical elements. And of course, a strange sense of humour since it starred Bruce.

You can get the series pretty cheaply now on DVD if it's not available in other venues.

It's only one season, but it contains a whopping 27 episodes!! The other great thing is that none of 'em suck! Two, maybe three feel a little 'filler-ish', but even those have entertainment value. The first two thirds of the season deal with the arc set up in the pilot- once that's resolved the final eps are mainly stand alone adventure stories with a sort of wrap up two-parter to finish. It was nice they gave us that in case it wasn't renewed, which of course it wasn't.

I've never heard of it, but I might have to look into this. I love shows that were great but were not huge public successes, like Chuck starring Zachary Levi.

Chuck was awesome, and it luckily got to go the distance. Plus: Tim in season 4.

    :D
  • I vaguely remember watching it a few times. Enjoyed it but didn't quite get where it was coming from. I probably should have paid more attention to it. I expect I'd enjoy it more nowadays...

I had seen Army Of Darkness in early '93 and realized Campbell was a... unique individual... so when this show was announced I was all over it!
I have a fond memory of sanding & heat painting my motorcycle's exhaust system in my living room during the Halloween episode. \m/

Dixie Cousins was a great character.... Brisco_dixie.jpg ^:)^

That was great. And directed by his co-star. No, not the girl.
