Sad to say that Michael White has passed on
He's the man that produced the Rocky Horror Picture Show on stage and also Monty Pythons Life Of Brian amongst many other works. RIP.

George Martin fitted the Beatles perfectly. Whenever Lennon & McCartney had an idea he listened to them and made them real.

An amusing sidenote. Game Of thrones fans have been devastated by the loss of George Martin, confusing him with author George R R Martin who has yet to complete the Song Of Ice & Fire novels.

The Beatles and Bond were not the only ones he helped. He was also instrumental in helping Hayley Westenra to become a star :

A true loss for music fans.

Never been a big fan of the Beatles, but LALD is fantastic and has a wonderful non-Barry score. RIP to the "fifth Beatle" himself.

I remember George Martin as a producer for Ultravox s sixth album "Quartet" from 1982. Great job!
  • Sir George Martin contributed greatly to the music world, beyond "just" being the producer who gave us the Beatles. I'll be listening tonight to his "Love" album, co-produced with his son for Cirque D' Soleil, from the original Beatles tapes. If you've never heard it before, give it a listen!

RIP Sir George, producer of arguably the best title theme in the series.

Although I don't exactly like the movie, it has a rather unique score, will sure be missed.

I'm not the biggest Beatles fan although I like their music very much and acknowledge their humongous influence on popular culture. Sir George Martin was huge part of that, his revolutionary techniques that made the fab four sound so distinctive and inventive.

Also for me outside of Barry the only other composer to really produce a Bond score with his own stamp but also deliver an exciting melodic sound, I don't rate LALD the film but the score is top drawer.

    RIP

I currently have Sir Martin's brilliant score for LALD in my car. It has been there for 4 months or so, and I always get a kick when that album starts playing in rotation.

Thanks for providing us with the best non-Barry score of the series, and for your work with that little known band known as the Beatles as well.

    RIP Sir George.

Ray Tomlinson, the email innovator (he first used the "@" symbol in emails) died last week at the age of 74. Not a household name by any means, but it's important that we remember him as he revolutionised our online communications:
