While UNCLE may not have burned up the box office it did make Time's 10 best list and now Bond may have set his sites on U.N.C.L.E's director. http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/guy-ritchie-frame-bond-director-6962038

  • I really liked "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.". And I'm also slightly a fan of Guy Ritchie's work. So why not :-)!
  • The phrasing in the story is less than definitive. We'll see.

    I would love it and this should be in bond 25 production thread.

    I liked Ritchie's two Sherlock Holmes films

    I think there could be another thing in play here:

    Warner Bros.

    If Ritchie is onboard for Bond #25, then perhaps Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are aiming at obtaining the rights for the "U.NC.L.E."-franchise. Co-owned by Warner off course. And this could perhaps lead into a more succesful sequel to the first U.N.C.L.E.-film.

    Think of it: Warner.Bros./MGM/EON Productions owning and producing:

    --> James Bond 007
    --> The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

    I think it would be a master stroke of a genius, because by doing so, you don't have to worry so much about vague criticism about 'tone' and 'style'. If you want to have more comedy? Go watch EON's "U.N.C.L.E.". If you need a bit more realism? Go watch EON's "James Bond-007".

    I always thought his name was in the running for years, to direct
    a Bond film.

    Yea I thought so too after SF. One of many but not a first choice. At least that's what I recall.

    He said "no thanks" first. And I agree. I don't like his style.

    It's the same website which ten days ago posted an article saying that Judi Dench may come back in Bond 25.

    I'm open to it. There are far superior choices out there imho, but if they decide to go with Ritchie, he'll make something interesting I'm sure. The film won't lack charisma at least.
