I'd love to see him do another one. He definitely has enough fuel left in the tank. However the ending for SP was very well designed in that he is perhaps the only Bond to get a proper ending should he wish to bow out now.
(Even though there is plenty of room for a return)

Campbell is close to his 100th birthday, not going to happen.

Martin is in his early seventies and incredibly fit and vital. Chances are it won't happen but age and physical condition will not be the reason.

  • I'm not really sure honestly. SPECTRE had a good ending, and a perfect way to end the Craig arc of Bond. On the other hand, I do want to see more of him as Bond.

So is George Miller and Martin Scorsese. I guess being in your 70's means you have to stop making movies. :P

Campbell would be a great choice to continue the Craig era and develop what Mendes has established ie new Mi6 team, and Blofeld Spectre reveal, plus he could be counted on to leave Bond's childhood alone, once and for all.

After your calculation Ridley Scott and Clint Eastwood will hit the 120th sometime soon.

I think SP is the perfect time for him to go. His performance was great, but perhaps he's done all he can with Bond, though it depends on whether they want his Bond to have a happy ending with Madelaine or it to go the way of Tracy. Shame they could not have squeezed another film in between QoS and SF but there we go.

Certainly want DC for another movie!!!

I think SP is Craig's best performance in the role. It's the closest to Connery's in TB - cool, suave, dangerous, yet still manages to pull off serious and even vulnerable at the same time.

This is Craig Bond meets Cinematic Bond, and boy does he pull it off well.

He should do one more. After that, age will be against him.

I agree 100% with Jetsetwilly. Spectre exceeded my expectations. Craig has earned one more movie

I'd like another entry from Craig to see him follow up SP and face ESB one more time. Though Mendes returning makes me think both him and DC will want to run with that brother angle with a follow up.

If DC & SM can just have Bond in some way come back to the service, possibly ESB escapes ( I don't see any other way for this to happen) unless they have some idea I can't conceive to get round this and still have ESB in it.

I'm not sure they'd deal with Madeline by just brushing her off like an after thought, SM & DC would need her to figure in it.

Also a part of me says if SM & DC just want to carry on with all this brother nonsense then maybe SPECTRE should be both their swansong and just let another actor pick up from here, they could just mention the Swann thing didn't work out and Bond is committed to his job, the next actor could then be the same Bond.

You don't even have the next film have to be SPECTRE based, a standalone mission and then the next film could be ESB escaping and the new Bond going after him but dispensing with this brother nonsense and just making a kick ass Bond film.

I loved what they've done with this era, I don't mind the tying things together in SPECTRE but having ESB be his sort of brother and be part of his past was just too far and if SM 7 DC want to run with this for a 5th entry than rather just have him track down Blofeld after escaping with little reference to author of all your pain then I'd rather they both bowed out on SP, pity really that element really was the crux of me thinking it didn't measure up to CR & SF, that and the 2 lame set pieces that closed the film.

Blofeld will need to be wrapped up in the next film IMO. I have a feeling Waltz wont come back after B25 either, he has even stated its dependant on the story for B25.

Now that Craig finally got his TB, TSWLM or GE (depending on how you look at it) I want Craig to get his YOLT, OHMSS, MR, OP, TND as well :))
So 5 more are in order :))

    Go.
  • Think they may have hit a wall creatively with Craigs Bond and after what transpired in Spectre the decision could have already been made. I like Craig though i would be happy to see a new Bond.

I think he's coming back. They are going to do Shatterhand and Castle of Death next. I'd bet on it.
I would suggest they do it though without either Swann or Ernst being killed.
Reason; Swann is not Tracy. She does not need to be sacrificed. Too many dead girls in the Craig era already. And Ernst, cat and Spectre I would like to keep around as ongoing permanent nemeses.
To do this, we have Ernst escape and attack Bond and Swann a la OHMSS. Swann is injured but survives.
Bond goes after Ernst. We do the YOLT story, but Bond only thinks he kills Ernst.
Bond returns to Swann. By next film she has moved on. Ernst returns later played by new actor, and the Bond versus Spectre battles continue for the next 100 years.
    :)

I hope both Daniel and Sam come back for one more. There will be plenty of issues in the world to deal with. It does not need to be with Ernst, could be with a number 2 with Spectre involved. I trust we have done enough with the personal side (Skyfall) and background (Spectre) to setup a proper mission. Does Daniel scuba dive?

i don't think so.. personally, there are a few different ways they could go with Craig returning that could impact the film thematically... the obvious choice, is the revenge angle.. Swann gets murdered by a SPECTRE agent (possibly a #2 type of baddie) on orders from Blofeld - this is something i am not fond of repeating - but it's an option......

another option, is showing that even though Bond threw away his PPK, and is willing to walk away - a normal life isn't for him.. call it a form of PTSD or whatever, but he finds regular day to day stuff boring, and is lured back into service - thus, it's forced Madeleine to make her decision to leave Bond, as he simply can't live the normal life she wants him to..

if they wanted to do a Blofeld trilogy - they could easily stretch it to 2 more films... as someone else mentioned, the whole next film - Blofeld could be incarcerated, Hannibal Lector style - and by him being arrested, it's set off a chain of global event and domestic events that require 007 to stop.. and by the end, Blofeld is busted out of prison - Madeleine could be killed off (or not - she could just leave Bond).. and it sets up the next film with Bond hunting down Blofeld, to put a stop to him once and for all.

Brilliant idea. Blofeld has things set up in case he is every killed/captured. He's planned on EVERYTHING, every contingency possible. It will be Bond's job to go out and "fix" things that are going bad around the world, almost like Jack Bauer, going from site to site to stop one terrorist enterprise after another. He and Leiter, plus some other 00s, would work together to get things done. It could be amazing

After SP, my initial thoughts were that Craig f***ed up my favorite franchise with these last two films, but his Bond is most fantastic, it´s just that I cannot stand Mendes´ way of storytelling and many of his artistic choices (camera, lights, colours, music), so I guess if Craig would do many more Bond films, but with less influence beyond his acting, and with directors I like more, I would be very very happy :-).

Proper mission, haha. It should be obvious after four films that for the time being the producers are more interested in introversion than proper missions. And mega-buck guarantor Chris Nolan hasn´t yet have his go at Bond. The general visual and musical direction of the last two films looks to me like groundwork for a Nolan Bond with a Zimmer score. So, unfortunately, I might re-direct my Bond enthusiasm for a few years, avoid new films and make an in-depth study of the first 16 films ;-).

Having revisited DN thru TB since seeing SP, I am ready for DC to step aside and make way for a Bond who can bring back the qualities SC brought to his first four films. I like DC and think CR is one of the very best films of the series. But revenge turning to psychological issues turning to that 'secret' has run its course. As was so appropriately stated in NSNA, how about some good old gratuitous sex and violence?

There is so much one might find fault with in those early Bond films: often cheap effects, sped up film, rear screen projection, models that look like models, but Connery, good God, the man owned that role the moment he lit that cigarette in the casino. He is so detached, so unapologetic, so effortlessly cool and masculine. His Bond is a masterclass in film acting.

I am tired of a psychologically challenged and complex Bond who keeps going on unauthorized missions. Tired of the Double 0 section is no longer relevant. Tired of the dinosaur analogy. But I don't want a return to the so unflappable, so witty Bonds of RM and PB that you never believe they are in danger and all feels slightly cartoonish.

For my next Bond, here's what I'd like to see.

PTS without Bond that sets up the main plot. (Think DN).
Big, brassy title song that smacks of Bond, not the latest singer in vogue.
Bond pulled away from a pleasant pastime to receive mission from M.
Bond bedding and shooting his away around the world before taking a seriously
    challenging villain down.
And finally, something I don't want to see--the DB5 in a Bond film ever again. They
milked that so many times it has become parody.

All in all, I'm good with DC stepping away, as long as they can find an actor with
SC's qualities and a director like TY.
  • The backstory Bond has grown rather tiresome now and Daniel Craig is not getting any younger. Take a short break and come back with a new Bond, new writers, and a new director.

Crabkey, sorry but you need to move on. Those days are long past and Bond is not the same character/film series it once was. That's a good thing, believe it. The reason this series has lasted is because it has constantly evolved and had variety throughout its glorious 53 years of existence.

I'd say that SP makes me more relaxed about Craig returning.

I think the Craig era is a little bit overrated, but that's to be expected. Remember All those people who said Brosnan was the best since Connery. Now we have people saying Craig has equalled or topped Connery. Total nonsense IMO, but he's a decent Bond and infinitely better than Brosnan.

I'm resigned to him doing another. The films are not quite my cup of tea but I am very conscious that they could be a lot worse as well, so I'm happy for Craig to do one more. He probably deserves it.

Am I alone in feeling that with SF and SP that Bond has drifted back to that Moore-light territory that Brosnan had already explored? I mean the films are still a lot better than with Brosnan, but there's an underlying current of cheese that I find slightly off putting.

More than ever I feel they had it right with Dalton.

CR is the best Bond film since the 60's. Brosnan never hit those heights, Craig has in his debut.
  • I would like Craig, Mendes, Waltz, and the DB5 all to return for Shatterhand in 2018. I like the introspection because that's how Ian Fleming wrote Bond in the novels.
