Not new, but I've been a very infrequent poster and have posted mostly in the elimination games to this point. I'll probably be frequenting this site more as a change of scenery seems to be in order.

Anyway, big fan of Dalton (obvious, I know ;) ) and have spent quite a bit of time talking Bond on the internet, just not here very often.

    You don't say...;)

Though you've been around a while, I'll give you another hearty welcome and hope you enjoy all the other non-elimination game topics!

I was taking some overdue holiday. Much like Dalton, I've been around here before (prior to the Forum spruce-up). New film, new things to discuss - thought I'd join the party! Particularly into the Film Production/Bond music side of things.

Hello everyone! I´m a new member here... and then again I´m not. I was here a long time ago under a different name. Then something big came up and I disappeared :D

I became a Bond fan in the late eighties when I saw Octopussy and Live And Let Die. I was about 8 or 9 years old. I became a hardcore Bond fan when I saw all the old films in 1990 or 1991.

My favorite film has always been For Your Eyes Only, OHMSS comes just after. As a child old Rog was my fav Bond but nowadays Sir Sean and mr Craig are my Bonds. This reboot thing or whatever you want to call it has been the best thing in the series since 1962 when it all began. Brosnan years were crap. Ok, Goldeneye was good.

So, as a huge fan of Daniel Craig and the new films, I´m eagerly waiting for Spectre. The premiere here in Finland is 30th October. Already got my tickets!

Well, I salute you all, you fellow Bond aficienados and special greetings to all of you finnish Bond fans here!

Welcome to the forum @JNO- good call with FYEO- excellent film there. Love how they brought Rog' back down to earth for this. It was the first one I saw, so naturally it holds great sentimental value to me. I'm in the minority here, but I love the score, too.

And to all Agents new to MI6: Are you ready to tackle SPECTRE with us? Not long now- just two-and-a-half weeks! *sigh*

FYEO (sorry, this may belong to another category, but don´t hold it against me) is great in its context: a hard cold war thriller, the story holds up very well, the action is good, Roger is grittier than ever, Carole Bouquet is one of the sexiest Bond girls ever and yes, I like the score too. I hate films like MR and DAD so the grittier, down to earth style of Bond is a perfect formula for me.
  • Hello obviously this is not my first post, I introduced myself on another thread but I just realized this one existed lol so I am David. I have been a huge Bond fan since I was about 9 or 10 years old when I first played GoldenEye on n64. Sparked my curiosity to watch the film the game was based on and I loved it! Then I heard there was another Bond film being made when I saw the teaser poster at the theater with half of Pierce's face holding the silenced P99. After watching that i learned there was loads of James Bond movies from my mom. She's not the biggest fan but she told me about them and I would go to Blockbuster and Hollywood video in those days in search of them and would watch them one by one. I fell in love with Bond then and nowadays I act like a big kid whenever I hear about a new Bond film coming together. I'm excited to be part of a board that can "nerd out" with me when hearing about certain things and that I don't have to feel like I'm weird for being excited about James Bond lol. The IMdb boards definitely are not for me!!

I am very new here too and it is nice to hear someone has almost the exact same story of how he fell in love with the Bond franchise as myself. Looking forward to hear more from you.

Yes I am very excited about talking to other Bond fans as well. Thank you for the welcome. I was worried this board might not be welcoming like a lot of other forums, but seems like that won't be the case here! Where's your story on here 00Agent? I'd love to get to know some of you guys. I tried to look for your introduction but I couldn't find it.

Thats Because i kept my introduction rather short. I guess i could shed some more light on my background now:

It all started with Goldeneye64, same as you. I was totally obsessed with that game from day one.
Then, after a while i decided to check the movie out and it was quite interesting to see how different the story played out. Tomorrow never dies was right around the corner and it just deepend my love for Bond more. After that i started recording every Bond movie on TV whenever it aired. Took me like 2-3 years until i had them all. I loved every second of it. We had no internet back then, and it was so incredibly suprising for me to see TLD or OHMSS for the very first time and thinking "who the hell is that?!"
So that way i went deeper and deeper into the whole mythology. When CR came out in 2006 i already was a huge Bondfan but it blew my mind, and i decided to finally read all the fleming novels, and it changed my whole perspective.
Since then Dalton climbed much higher in my favorites list ;)
I always look for new ways to get even deeper into the mythology of Bond, just recently i discovered the Comic strips, that were released in the 60's i believe. Bought the whole omnibus collection and i am going slowly through them right now.

What i haven't mentioned, but what is also a very important part of Bond for me are all the video games that were released. Goldeneye of course is nr. 1 but original stories like Nighfall and EoN are just as important than the Movies for me, thats why Brosnan imo had the biggest impact as Bond, and nothing will ever change that. But honestly, i love them all, for different reasons. I embrace all the different aspects of this Franchise

@00Agent that's awesome! We definitely did have a similar start to our stories! I couldn't get enough of the n64 GoldenEye! I loooooved playing multiplayer with friends, I miss those days when a bunch of your friends would join you in a game together in one room, it was so much fun. I wish the new Bond games could match the glory of the multiplayer back then. It revolutionized console multiplayer gaming, with the introduction of online gaming, it could be even better but it just doesn't hit the mark for me. My other favorite game is EON, i thought that was brilliant, but I still haven't played any of the Craig games, except for Quantum for the PS2 but that was lackluster, the version for the PS3 looked much better. But I should save this gaming conversation for the gaming thread lol.

I haven't read any of the Fleming novels, I should and want to, I just never got around to it. I did read the novelizations of Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World is not Enough, I thought they were written out amazingly, sometimes even better than the film, especially the latter one lol. I could imagine Dr. Christmas Jones with a more talented actress instead of watching and listening to Denise Richards pretending to be a nuclear physicist. I also read "High Time to Kill" and another one by Raymond Benson and I thought they were brilliant back then. I still have first one I mentioned but I gotta read it again to see if it holds up.

I also tried to write my own short stories based on James Bond, but I could never manage to find enough creativity to finish them. Now that I'm older and more experienced I feel like I might be able to so sometimes I go back and forth on whether I should do one.

Sorry I went off for a little bit there and wrote a novel seems like Lol. I'm just excited to talk to you guys!
  • I also agree with you that Brosnan had a huge impact on me when I was younger! No matter what people say about him now that we have a more gritty and realistic Bond, I will always have love for him and only wished the producers would have given him better material to work with but he did what the people wanted back when he was Bond.

    @mr_rivas1986

i agree with pretty much everything :)
And you are right, we should probably take some of those topics to other threats but i just want to point out that you should definitly check out Quantum of Solace for ps3/Pc. It is a very well made game and to me as close to the idea of what goldeneye64 was (Extention, reinterpratation of a movie) than any other Bond game.

Hey, everybody. Just a big fan of Bond who has seen the movies over and over and has read some of Fleming's books (Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and You Only Live Twice). I've seen threads here for a while so I decided to join. Hopefully it'll be fun. lol

P.S. Stoked for SPECTRE, looking like one of the classic Bonds already.

    Hello :)
Felt like finally signing up and create an account.
My English should be good enough I hope :)
You'll never guess who my favourite Bond actor is :))
There is a strong hint in my profile ;)

    I'm male, first language French.
Never been on a Bond forum actively but read through it quite a lot.
Now with Spectre arriving I like joining the threads.
    Very excited for the film!

I guess that's it for the moment, ask me if you want to know anything :)

  • G'day guys. Glad to be onboard. Been a casual connoisseur of Bond films for a while, recently decided to go back and watch them all in order. Give them the attention they deserve.
