I had seen a few, including YOLT, LALD, FRWL, on tv before I begged my dad to take me to see LTK when I was 8 but he wouldn't... and with good reason, in hindsight.
So it was an agonizing 6.5 year wait to see my first Bond film on the big screen. Loved GE back then. Not so much now...

I also had some nice surprises as I built my vhs/DVD collections - i.e. 'that bit wasn't in the ITV version I taped' :) It was awful the way they'd butcher them.

Are only younger people voting on this, or is MI6Community full of 80's/early 90's babies?

First Bond in a Theater : TMWTGG (french military movie theater "L'Aiglon" in West-Berlin)

First Bond on TV : CR '67 (a cut down version, missing the Scottish castle scenes ; a frequent happaning in those days : the movie was part of a movie + debate show, and they cut movies to make more time for the discussion)

First official Bond on TV : TSWLM

First Bond on VHS : OHMSS
  • Difficult to say. I have somewhat hazy memories (Jill painted gold & the snakebite death of the British agent) of seeing both GF and LALD on the telly back in the early 70s. I'm going with GF for the simple reason that I very well could have seen it before LALD was even released.

Sorry to mention but Dr No seems to have been put back to zero, yet I'd posted that myself as the first one I saw. Cheers.

Still find MR a dark 007 movie with some awesome stunts, brilliant special effects, awesome musical tracks and a Sir Roger Moore. And of course it would also be my first on video, dvd and finaly bluray.

I remember when I was ~10 years old, my father rented a Bond film from the local Blockbuster, which I found out was Octopussy when I was gradually developing as a Bond fan later on. I can distinctly remember myself watching many scenes from that particular film back then (especially the pre-titles sequence and Magda's "unique" exit from Bond's hotel room), but I can't for the life of me remember if I saw it in full from beginning to end, so I can't rightly consider it the first Bond film I ever saw.

It wasn't until late 2002 or early 2003, when I was in my pre-teens, when my older brother, already in his teens at the time, introduced me to a little film known as Live and Let Die. It intrigued me,... frightened me at times,... captivated me throughout with attentive eyes and ears. It was nothing like I had ever seen before in my whole life up to that point, film-wise. I wanted to discover more about these James Bond films, so my brother introduced me to the next Bond film (TMWTGG), I rented the rest of the Roger Moore entries over the next several weeks (bar Octopussy, because, at that time, I thought I had already seen it), and the rest, as they say, is history. I became hooked on Bond at that point, following on from there with the Connery entries, Dalton's introduction (TLD), the PG-13 entries once I turned 13, and finally ending with OHMSS by December 2003/January 2004.

So based on my memories, I'd have to say that Live and Let Die was the first Bond film I ever saw. Regardless of whether it was that or Octopussy , however, I'm very grateful that I was first introduced to the series with Roger Moore as 007. He may no longer be my favorite Bond these days (he was when I was running through his Bond films for the first time), but he still holds a very special place in my heart when it comes to my love for the film series. :)

Being a child of a Bond fan, I saw many pieces of movies as a kid, but the first I saw entirely was Goldeneye. Didn't become a fan until, like @timmer, saw DAF when on high school.

I am not really sure what was the first movie I saw (I think DN) but the first 007 movie I have memory off (movie that I've seen posters for) is DAD
  • Posts: 11,119
I'm not sure if it's clear to posters what they see as the "First Ever Bond Film They Saw". The first one they saw in cinema? Or the first one they saw on TV.
