i'm sure this post will meet with a great deal of disagreement, but can we all think back to the summer of 2002? We were anticipating the 40th anniversary film, which was promised to deliver all of these 'homages' to the past Bond world. We were aching for the trailer and then, we got it. And most of us were amazed:
    whoa surfing, that's new
wait, is that Bond with a beard?
I think saw the alligator from Octopussy in in the background.
Love Q's line about this being Bond's 20th watch.
This is going to be the best Bond ever
and then we eagerly counted the days until November....and realized what a foul piece of stench DAD was.

Now, I SURELY am not comparing SPECTRE to DAD and I AM CERTAIN SPECTRE will be a triumph however, can we all take a collective exhale and stop with the claims of Bond film perfection right now. For crying out loud, some of the scenes in the trailer may not even make it into the finished film. Yes, the cinematography looks great, the set pieces seem to meet our Bond fan criteria, the helicopter barrel roll took me immediately back to Thailand circa 1974 (sans the slide whistle) and yes, like all of you, when I heard the OHMSS cues, I literally started to tear up. Let's reset the countdown clock to this Fall, avoid all spoilers (and sadly, this trailer provided some) and get ready for a huge treat.

In the shot with the plaque showcasing those who died in the service of their country, is that the ruins of MI6?

Yes, the Memorial wall M talked about in SF. You can also see Bond walking through an old shooting range within MI6.

Little things I've also noticed after multiple views are M's changed the office since the end of SF and has a new picture behind his desk (no longer the painting of the original MI6 Building).

Also, having watched the Rome car chase when I was in Italy in February, I wondered what the obstacle on the riverside was going to be which meant the cars drove on the slope of the wall. I thought it may be pedestrians strolling along the river but it turns out they put boulders and rocks there instead.

@JPinFLA, but everyone did the same thing with CR and most of us love that and would say it's in our top five Bond films. Everyone did the same thing with SF, and most hail that as one of - if not the - best Bond film out there. The point is, we're all massive Bond geeks, that's why we collect here to share our thoughts. It's hard to not get pumped seeing new footage from a new entry in the series. As excited as I am, though, you have to try and keep the hype down so you don't elevate it to some 'best film ever' status before it's even released, like some people have.

I don't see the TB comparison personally. Looks like it's own film completely.

SPECTRE meeting, shadowy organization, Bond becoming the lover of a girlfriend/wife of a villain, large scale plot, Italian and French Bond girls, a parade scene, etc. It is reminiscent of TB, to a degree. OHMSS too.

Incidental really. Moonraker has Bond visit an Italian City in which there's a chase scene, it has a parade, a physically imposing henchman, a French Bond girl, an impressive villain's lair with staff monitoring rows of TV screens... I see the visual touchstones, but I do think they will be narratively quite different beasts.

    My thoughts,

It looks like a very different film than Skyfall, I think we are going to see some great performances by everyone especially Craig & Waltz.

I was very very suprised with the OHMSS theme, wasnt expecting that one.

Only thing I didnt like was the abrupt ending.

Best part was Waltz' I am the author of your pain, the henchman striking Bond & then he looks up.

Guys, I was just listening carefully to the music of the trailer from 2min00 till 2min07. And I actually think it's a queue from the "Casino Royale"-theme "You Know My Name". Just listen carefully and compare it with the first opening queues (first 6 seconds) of the main titles:

So, the trailer music has got actually queues from John Barry's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and David Arnold's "You Know My Name" :-D!.

That is still OHMSS, not CR.

Any chance the OHMSS theme appears in the score itself?
    I certainly hope so!

You're right, and it's awesome how the YKNM waves into the OHMSS theme. But I think that's because they're written with the same scale (I know nothing about music theory, I play by ear).

    You are right:

the 2min00 - 2min07 queue from the trailer corresponds with the 0min50 - 0min58 part of the "OHMSS" main titles. Then again, sometimes it's a bit hard to distinguish ;-). I'm over-analizing things hehe:

Something struck me: Madeleine Swann looks like Tracy in the novel.

The way Swann says "Get away from me!" She's so pretty. Also, the way M tells Bond "You have no authority. None." That sounds like Bernard Lee.

If that happens I will go bonkers with joy. I'll probably have to be removed from the theatre room.

The "DANIEL CRAIG QUADRILOGY" in trailers (all full theatrical trailers):

"James Bond 21: Casino Royale" (length: 2:34, released September 13th 2006):

"James Bond 22: Quantum Of Solace" (length: 2:30, released September 10th 2008):

"James Bond 23: Skyfall" (length: 2:31, released July 31st 2012):

"James Bond 24: SPECTRE" (length: 2:32, released July 22nd 2015):

By jolly, if you watch these four trailers in this order, you actually start to think: Cinema's need to organize more double bills! They need to organize marathons :-P. One should see ALL four Craig-films in this order to truly enjoy every aspect, every layer, character developments, chronology.......to fully "get" these films ;-).

Off course it's not a necessity to watch the four Craig films/trailers in chronological order. Every Bond film is unique. But the Craig ones.....seem to be tied together with some good "narrative continuity-glue" ;-).

Man, I will most certainly cherish the upcoming three BluRay steelbooks, as if it was a precious diamond. And then....November 6th....."SPECTRE"!

For those also wanting to pick this trailer apart - I'm uploading a set of hi-res (without the YouTube compression) screencaps right now....

Anyone who wants to nitpick this trailer can just go away. November can't come soon enough for me.

I didn't catch this on the first view, but was elated to hear the OHMSS theme.

CR still has the best trailer out of all of them.

Interestingly, the latter three all end with Bond shooting a gun.

I wasn't in the least, and my apologies if it came off that way. I just think it was a fantastic trailer and didn't want to see anyone picking it apart and being negative for every minute detail.

What a great time to be a Bond fan. Maybe I'm just gushing/fanboying, but it really does seem that we're in the second Golden Age (after the 60s) of 007 films.
