Reason why the S.P.E.C.T.R.E trailer didn't appear last Friday.

As we know it was announced that the full length trailer for S.P.E.C.T.R.E. would be available from July 17th but come the day it did not and the reason for this seems rather obvious to me. Blame it on THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. and the five minute trailer for it that was released at the recent Comic-con. Previous trailers for this movie were underwhelming but this latest one is nothing short of exhilarating and suggests a movie that is all that the Bond movies used to be before the solemn "Zadok the Priest" aura of the Craig movies.
Henry Cavill's Napoleon Solo looks like he will resurrect the confident and self assured world saving type of secret agent that Bond used to be before he started sobbing into his Schnapps and despite the strange Norman Wisdom hat he wears in the trailer Armie Hammer seems pretty good too as Illya Kuryakin.

It may well be that the new Bond trailer paled in comparison to the U.N.C.L.E one and the studio powers may have demanded that it be re-edited to make it less angst heavy and more appealing to audiences who want lighter fare in these troubled times we live in. Therefore much may need to be done to save 007 from being overshadowed by his new/old rival Solo.

    The date of the trailer was never announced, just pure speculation.

    If your assessment is correct that the trailer was delayed (and there's nothing to say that it was, as a date was never announced), re-editing would not be the reason.

    Your idea that it was pushed back 5 days to rework is impossible because in that short period they'd have to:

    Reedit
    Get producer/director approval
    Rerecord the voiceover work from foreign markets
    Prepare for distribution to cinemas
    Resubmit and get approval/rating from the cinema classification/censorship boards.

    The last one is the clincher - the trailer had already been approved and rated by the British Board of Film Classification, there's no way they'd have been able to reedit, resubmit and get approval/rating in that short amount of time and no changes to the trailer have been shown on the BBFC website - the trailer we're seeing today is the same trailer that was classified on the 8th July, 9 days before your supposed date.
