There will be THE SHADOW VOL 2 #1
    5th of August 2015
A ruthless cabal of magicians is searching for the secret to the Last Illusion, and they'll stop at nothing to achieve their goals. But the person who knew the most about the mysterious rite is dead, and he shared his secret with one man -- the Shadow! Now, the Shadow faces some of his strangest foes as he engages in a deadly game where he might be the hunter... or the hunted.

I didn't realise it had been so long since the last one?!! :-O
  • Dynamite has a great track record with adaptations from other media: The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, Zorro and so forth. Warren Ellis is an ideal choice to script the first original series from this publisher. 007 hasn't had a strong history in comic book form (as opposed to the long running newspaper strip) and it's about time that record was changed. I'm eagerly awaiting the first release!

Excited but confused ...some news reports are saying that yes Dynamite is publishing period pieces based on Fleming's stories timeline but that this monthly serial in set in present day??

I would enjoy both if true but I think its just a reporting error.

UPDATE ..according to cbr.com and an interview with a Dynamite spokesman this is set in modern day.. which IMO is great for keeping Bond relevant and accessible to the typical modern audience but the classic origin stories and remakes will be set in the classic Fleming timeline.

Kind of a multiple universe thing ..a contemporary Bond and a classic Bond.

Wow I wish I was ageless like that ...lol jk

Serpent's Tooth is the only JB comic I have read so far.

Ah, the Dark Horse graphic novels.

I'm looking forward to these. I am glad it's Dynamite, as I have enjoyed what they have done with The Shadow.

    AS FOR THE SHADOW................

I'll take all of The Shadow that Dynamite are prepared to give us. :D

I would guess monthly comics which would later be compiled into a TPB. Also, I could've sworn that I read somewhere that it was a 6 issue limited series. And if that's the case, there would be nothing stopping Dynamite from extending the run to an ongoing series.

I've been wondering for a long time when they'd put out a Bond comic for the modern times. Since the recent success of the superhero movies, comics too have gone up in sales. The output these days in enormous and many movies, television series and video games get their own prequel, sidequel, sequel or spin-off comic. Even something like 28 Days Later, Freddy vs Jason, The Minions, Mad Max, ... get a comic. But the Bonds, for some reason, were until now more or less left in the dark, which I find surprising because, come on, there's such great potential for exciting comics in the 007 universe, isn't there?

So I'm really looking forward to this thing.

And I have a few ideas of my own. How about going through the Fleming novels again but this time in colour, with a modern design, less panels per page and less words? Or how about comics that pay some sort of tribute to our 6 actors? I'm sure these comics would sell well. Maybe not like the next Iron Man but still better, or so I think, than the Firefly comics which, by the way, are excellent!

I buy with Dynamite Comics too. I subscribe Red Sonja & John Shaft comics. I be soon also James Bond. They won't have the figure on the pass James Bond like Sean Connery or present Daniel Craig. But I wish it was Sean Connery as the art figure. Soon after this it Dynamite will probably do Dirty Harry & Rambo next but may be not to soon.

Dynamite also did a few issues of The Man With No Name, as well, a decade ago. I still have to get around to acquire copies and read them.

I'm really looking forward to this comic book, but I'm unsure whether I should buy each issue when it gets released or wait for a compilation.

Its going to be an ongoing monthly ...first story arc will be 6 issues. I'm buying each month ....enjoying and hoping others do too.

I have high hopes for this series.

Btw wonder how the title is pronounced? Hate to be stupid ..just asking.

Yeah, I know that (thanks for your reply by the way), but as a book collector I'm not sure if I should wait until the release of a compilation of all six issues (assuming there's gonna be one, this is just me speculating), or buy one each month (I'm looking forward to reading this comic book).

I'd think just VAR-ger (hard g sound), at least that's how I pronounce it in my head. Really looking forward to these!
  • I recommend buying the monthly issues. Writer & artist still need to get paid while working, y'know! Additionally, Trade compilations don't generally command much in the way of collectors' edition prices upon resale -- the individual issues do.

Yea I totally agree. Don't want to be waiting around for the third part of Silent Armageddon again lol.

I prefer the monthly issues anyway. It feels good to hold such an issue in my hands. I prefer it over a trade paperback or a hardback.

I would buy monthly issues, but there's no comic book shop in town, so I must rely on TPBs purchased on Amazon. Such is how I shall be buying Bond comics in the future.
