His line is easily the most memorable of the teaser and is likely to go down as one of the classic bits of dialogue of the film.

" You are like a kite dancing in a hurricane Mr Bond" Love it!

I wonder if this is Jez Butterworth's dialogue. This and "I always knew death would wear a familiar face" are very poetic, along with Silva's line "Life clung to me like a disease". We didn't hear stuff like this in CR and QOS so I suspect these flourishes are what Butterworth is bringing to the script.

But we did hear that in OHMSS for instance. Michael Reed's added dialogue added some poetic vibes in it. Especially when Tracy and Blofeld are discussing the dawn, in the alpine room. Or when Blofeld is giving his speech about the Siamese fighting fish in FRWL. That kind of lines/dialogue.......you know, I'm quite happy Butterworth/Logan picked that up again. It's truly a trademark of the Bond franchise.

It was Simon Raven who added the lines (his credit was "additional dislogue"). Michael Reed was the director of photography.

You're right! Simón Raven it was. He was a bit the Paul Haggis/Jezz Butterworth of "OHMSS", polishing the final script, adding some more Shakespeare's /poetic dialogues to the screenplay.

@Birdleson . IMO your view is incredibly shortsighted and egoistical. You are not a shareholder, so why should you care, if a Bond film bombs? Why would you care - as a fan - about all the effort put into it, about word of mouth maybe slamming the character, you love?
Like it or not, its all about money these days with big budget films and if they fail, its in the films universe a dramatic event. Yes, its a reason to be proud, if it does well, because what they set out to achieve, they achieved and just for that sake, its a reason to hope for the best and not be "Oh, who cares, there will be another one at some pioint"
    Oh dear...

@Birdleson While I do agree that the Bond films are superior to Marvel movies and the M:I entries, to dismiss them by writing that they are "fare for children" is extremely short-sighted, for two reasons. Reason nr. 1: Even though some of the Bond films are not only really good Bond films, but great movies period (like CR or SF), Bond movies in general inhabit the same area of cinema as the Marvel films and the Mission Impossible movies. It's not like the Bond films are high art. Reason nr. 2: Some movies made primarily for children are great movies. I would argue that most movies directed by Hayao Miyazaki are far better than the average Bond film.

But back to the topic of box office. The main reason fans should care about box office is this: the vitality of the franchise is heavily dependent on the box office performance of its entries. Had CR and QOS been bombs, then they would not have made SF at all, or it would have been very different. The more money Bond films make, the more will the producers be trusted by EON's partners.

Caring about box office is NOT like a football fan caring about his team's performance. When it comes to the Bond franchise, "winning" equals a great movie, but a great box office performance is NOT just icing on the cake. A great box office performance of a new Bond film basically is laying groundwork for the next one.

OK, I think, this is a very personal feeling (in the end, of course, it is) that i cannot share, and still think of a hard to understand, but of course, I have to respect that view. But as a fan I want it to compete with what there is out there as competition and do well and better.

And - just because back then the audiences didn't follow the BO, it wasn't as important for the makers as it is now. The public just didn't have the chance to get all the information, otherwise they would have cared for sure. Why would a good film and great BO not go hand in hand? It doesn't always but often enough. So this is something to achieve, whcih wouldn't hurt even your view of a great film. Lets have both.

@Birdleson I will give you a specific example. I love Skyfall, I believe it's easily a top 5 Bond film, and the main reason it turned out to be a great movie is Sam Mendes. Would Sam Mendes have returned, had Skyfall been a financial disaster? Of course not. The financial success of Skyfall directly contributed to the return of Mendes. This is why I care about box office, and this is why any Bond fan should care about the box office performance of a new Bond film.

But when the box office results get too big, EON will then try to make the next films bigger and bigger and we'll get another DAD or MR. It happened twice before (3 if you count YOLT), and it will happen again. Money always talk, especially in the movie business.

It is true, but to a degree: how big DAD truly was? It had a lot of CGI and the climax is in a closed space. It could have been the climax of a tv movie. I often find many "big" movies rather cheap looking.

Later this year, they will once again discover that a bigger movie does NOT equal better box office performance. Btw, if I ever directed a Bond film, and then a couple of years later directed a second one, during the press conference of my second Bond film I would proclaim that "this one will be SMALLER AND BETTER".

IMO the only Bond outings I want big box office results is for the debut film of a new Bond. I would hate to see a new 007 having a failure at the box office, because it could mean he'd be recast and I don't want another Lazenby situation. For the rest of the tenure I am OK with the box office staying close to the results of the first film.

And that's not counting the international versions on page too. Out of interest, did Rogue Nation post international versions of their trailer?

Yes, there are international versions (French here, I remove the http to avoid the video www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX8fhP-fsPg ). I hope the dubbing on this one is a temporary one :)
Box office does matter in the relation to the budget, and should matter for fans too. If I end up loving Spectre, I would want it to make a ton of money, because then the producers would probably want to make the next one similar to it.

You don't like surprises ? Even for a franchise that did GF after FRWL, or FYEO after MR ?

Maybe it's because I grew up in an era where fans were not following these numbers (aside from the broadest perspective; we were all aware when STAR WARS or JAWS or THE EXORCIST broke an "all-time" record, but no actual numbers were published in the newspapers with any regularity), but the whole thing seems garish and mis-directed to me.

In France, for quite many years now, we know the numbers of the 9:00 am showings for a movie when it is out. Or the morning figures, etc. And it means the marketing teams are trying sometimes to twist these numbers : putting the premiere of the night before in it. Or even offering breakfast to the viewers who come at the 9:00 am showings :)

What is the most surprising IMO, is that quite a few people seem to think that the numbers we are fed, ie:Box Office Mojo and the like, are super-accurate.. This is a dream for accountants in any worldwide company, in which it takes quite a few months to know the actual numbers. Box Office early announcements are now part of the PR...

Were you following fan forums when CR was released ? The CraigNotBond crowd loved it when Casino Royale was behind Happy Feet at the box office... Well, I've not heard about Happy Feet II (or maybe on DVD only ?).

I'm so happy to see that the trailer is already in cinemas. I work at Vue Cinemas in the UK and whilst checking screens I've managed to watch the trailer numerous times. It's even more beautiful on the big screen :)

As someone who works there, we get free tickets but I think I'm gonna pay just so I can add as much as I can to Spectre's success :D

Any crowd reactions to the trailer in the theater? Someone mentioned earlier that there were some cheers during their viewing.

A friend of mine's girlfriend, who is neutral on Bond, saw the preview before Fast and Furious. He said when it was over she was frustrated, in a good way and kept asking,
' who is this', 'who' is that' and LOTS of other questions. Then she told him,' if we see just one of those movies, referring to the string of trailers of upcoming blockbusters, It's going to be SPECTRE.

Really? QOS did that, but if SF was ONLY 600 mill. I dunno, what would have happened. Probably the prods would have had a hard time getting over "What went wrong?" and "What are we supposed to do NOW?" New actor? New direction? WHAT?

If you like that, ok...but it surely wouldn't put this franchise in a healthy position.
Some here sound, as if being a BO success is something, they don't even want for whatever reason. Maybe because they want their Bond to be so special, its not for everyone and stays their private little toy. Strange in my book. And not working like that anymore eiher.

@parachute: What does it prove, that CR was behind Feed for starters and still a success? What happened was, that it was considered ??? for many, but then had legs because people loved it. Plus it was already a different time, even though its only 10 years. If you don't kill it at the BO first weekend (sadly) you gonna have a difficult time to make up for it.

I saw fast and furious 7 with some friends on Saturday. The spectre trailer came up and it was glorious. Every single one of my friends turned their heads and we're looking at me instead if watching the damn trailer for themselves lol. But yeah, they also showed tomorrow land, avengers and mission impossible and as much as I want to see MI too, the content used for the teaser for SP was marketing genius. Bond really is in a league of his own when it comes to action movies, it doesn't matter if Bond is doing the copying or the innovating, something about a Bond movie just has that special something that other movies lack and SP looks set to massacre the BO and be a critical success.

just have a look at this topic: http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/7447/spectre-can-it-do-1-2-billion-dollars-worldwide-and-will-2015-be-biggest-movie-year-ever#latest ;-).

I still think many fans underestimate what "Havoc" "SPECTRE" will create next November :-).

Do we know yet, whether cast will be at Cinema Con. DC being reportedly back on 22 April might indicate that?

I had a dream the other night that the SP reviews were in and were all pretty much three star. It was neither lauded, nor derided. Just mediocre. There was also a shot of Waltz stood on a cliff-edge in the TV spot. That's all I really remember. I think this stems from my loathing of 'three-star' reviews.

Just have a look at the reviews for QOS and your dream is reality :-P.

Wait, ComicCon or CinemaCon? Is the latter a famous cinema fair? And if so, will the cast of SP appear there? Did this happen with previous Bond films as well?

For Skyfall, I believe 4 minutes were previewed at CinemaCon.

Hm don't think so since CinemaCon is in Vegas. And for Skyfall none of the cast or crew were there when they premiered the first Skyfall teaser at Sony's CinemaCon 2012 presentation.

As for SDCC, can't really say as Bond never had a presence there. Only thing was 2012 where at a special off site IMAX event they premiered the IMAX exclusive Skyfall trailer.

And it's hard to take pride in such things as box office when you realize you are putting the Bond franchise up against franchises such as the Marvel films, or these car racing films, or Mission Impossible…fare for children, so far as I'm concerned.
I don't care how much shit I will get for this, but I could not agree more with you!
