Alternative Bond cars?

I think that when Bond go to play golf, and run into Londos streets, he use a different car. Maybe.....a Mini? Inconspicuous, unnoticed and very agile in traffic.

or maybe it's better a jaguar, definitely more powerful:

moreover, his DB5 vintage was destroyed by Silva. And now?

Evoque? Green or grey?

I personally think he should dump the Aston entirely and go with a Bentley. Continental GT would be my prefered choice

Considering he is a British style icon, it's hard to believe that we have never seen him at the wheel of a Mini (not a german one) but Bourne beat him to it, an opportunity lost

Aah, the motoring choice of pretty much every Premiership footballer.

Rather not for Bond, old man :P

Bond in old Mini? like this?

    34qjpme.jpg

like Mr. Bean or Austin Powers?
I think the vintage english car (luxury or sport) is better for Bond, about 70/80... a Rover 800 Turbo for example:

when you think back to the 60s and 70s when the Mini was the height of fashion, it was the perfect time, too late now (did Austin drive a Mini?)
another style icon was (is) the E type jag but AP stole that one aswell
as for those Rover's sorry, sooooooooooo wrong
PS a proper Morgan would look good if they needed a small 2 seater rather than the tacky BMW in Goldeneye

Bentely....right! After DB5 destruction, maybe now Bond can buy a vintage Bentley (convertible)

If it's good enough for Coleen Rooney, its good enough for Bond.

SAAB Turbos are shooting up in price as classic and I thought they were a great fit for a more mature Bond but never going to happen in a movie.

I doubt the average Common-or-Garden chav would get their hands on a Bentley GT - Just because one of the Chav Royale Family owns one, doesn't take that much away from it.

Hard to match the class of a DB5, perhaps a change of colour, they did a lovely green.

yes i thought a Bentley might have worked. its a great car. proably seen as a bit naff now though.

    the rover idea is hillarious.

    what about an Austin Montego?

Yep sorry Bentley have some great cars but as an option for Bond has been tarnished for me by the likes of Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Savage and Katie Price owning one.

Aston somehow seems to manage to escape that association (although I'm sure some of the above probably own one also).

I think Bentley really need to reconsider their brand image like Burberry did a while back due to it being known chiefly as the brand of choice for chavs and football hooligans.

The only car I can really envisage as replacing the Aston would be a top of the range Jag.

Love the notion that someone (apparently in all seriousness) can advocate a Rover for Bond!!! Would that be with or without the walnut gear knob?

I can picture the Q scene:

    'Youre new car 007 - a Rover 800'
    'I'll just talk over you Lynn - I'm not driving a Rover 800, I'm not drving a Rover 800, I'm not driving a Rover 800'.

    Unbelievable.

The Mk1 Esprit is now regarded as a classic. As a nod to RM, would it be too cheesy? (non sub version I mean)

Bond won the grey DB5 in Casino Royale. Silva destroy it in Skyfall. This car is too expansive to buy for a public employer like Bond. Bond can't buy another classic vintage like DB5

Its funy how things come full circle, there was a time when the original Esprit was seen as a little naff and a cheap version of a Ferrari but those lines have dated very well IMHO and it certainly stands out. A new generation of fans would not get the RM era reference, just enjoy it as a classic British supercar.

Gonna quote this because I mostly agree, and what a great looking car! The Continental GT with the fastback looks like a bullet to me :P

I do love his Astons though and don't want to see them gone... I feel like the Bentley would be his personal car and the Astons his "company" cars :D

the Continental GT is a nice, aggressive looking car. As much as I like the modern Astons, they lack the aggressiveness of the Bentley. had they used it in Bond when the car first came out it would have made a lot of sense.

But as others have said, this is a footballer's and rapper's car now.

RE Bond in a Rover: I think the MG ZT would have been more appropriate.

    Alfa Romeo SZ

    Alfa_Romeo_SZ_Zagato_1989-1991_0000.jpg?1380890891

An unconventional looking car. But I could imagine Dalton slipping behind the wheel of one for Bond #17.

Hard to say that these are the same DB5; what are the chances Dimitrios would have installed the exact same gadgets as the DB5 from Goldfinger?
Also it's pretty safe to assume that Bond's operating on more income than just what his job offers him.

Another thing: Dimitrios DB5 has left hand drive, Skyfall DB5 has right hand drive!!!! :D
