I'm just excited that it's happening. Sherlock. Star Trek. The Hobbit. Doctor Strange/The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Star Wars (???). Benedict is slowing but surely taking over the world as we know it, and guess what? I kinda like it.

When a Marvel movie based on an obscure property (Guardians of the Galaxy) is far better received and makes more money than a movie with the second most important chracter of DC Comics (Man of Steel), then it's very clear who is winning here.

Well, sixth really. Batman takes up the first five places. You know, 'cause he's Batman.

Tim Burton Might Make Another Superhero Movie; But Is Bored Of The MARVEL Formula
    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/notyetamovie/news/?a=112478

He has a point with the way they keep pumping them out eventually people will get tired.

Marvel definitely has a formula. Storytelling is a type of formula in general, read the book Hero with 1000 Faces by Joseph Campbell.

Anyway, Burton is a legend but his recent films have gotten generic. Time to revisit his own formula and do something risky like filming in daylight or something. Great filmmaker though, very technically gifted.

But, sadly, we can't get Christopher Reeve as Superman. It would only work well that way.

Honestly, I wonder how much more quickly we'll tire of the formula now that DC's copying it, and we know what both studios' schedules are.

Maybe Tim will turn to the DC universe?

Loved his Batman film! So we know what he can bring to the table!

I think Tim has it all wrong about the superhero films. I'm sure everyone here would say that the Marvel films have superheroes which are much "happier" than any in DC. With Marvel's heroes, a lot of them love saving the day and relish their powers (think Spidey and Iron Man), while a lot of DC characters take the whole job much more seriously and their duty outweighs any joy they might find in it (Batman and Superman).

Regardless, I don't want Tim touching any superhero projects with a ten foot pole, especially not Batman for obvious reasons. If he does do a Marvel project, it'll be certain that Spider-Man is a cursed property if he is chosen to direct a new film with the hero.

Wouldn't ever happen, but how about getting Will Reeve for Superman? It would make sense from a character standpoint that he still appear youthful since he's an alien. Just to keep that Reeve connection it would be really neat and a tribute to his father.
  • 2015 will be Marvel-ous year:
    - Agent Carter TV series
    - Second part of Agents of Shield season 2
    - Avengers: Age of Ultron
    - Daredevil TV series
    - Ant-Man
...and maybe A.K.A. Jessica Jones or next One-Shot's.

I'm wondering if there will be any further One-Shots. There wasn't one with Winter Soldier or Guardians.
