Over a more extremely talented actor in Craig. i think you know you're joking.

Would have been interesting to see a genuinely younger Bond though.

The great thing about the franchise is you can say:

    "There's always next time." :>

He was ahead of his time and even though I think he went out on a massive high with LTK

It certainly made up for Flash Gordon.... :D

1.Matthew Vaughn directing a Bond film with Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace)
2.Steven Spielberg directing a Bond film in the 1970's.
3.Goerge Lazenby coming back as 007 in Diamonds Are Forever
4.Clive Owens as James Bond in Casino Royale.
    5.Henry Cavill as James Bond.
6.Pierce Bronsan coming back as 007 for Casino Royale

I thought of some missed opporunities that could've been more interesting:

-For Thunderball, I would've love Yvonne Monlaur to play Domino instead of Claudine Auger. Monlaur speak perfect English and wouldn't need to be dub over unlike Claudine.
-Alfred Hitchcock directing one Bond film.
-Should've gotten Toshiro Mifune to play Tiger Tanaka for YOLT. Would've given him a mucher high profile. Also since Mie Hama and Akiko Wakabayashi after becoming Bond Girls should've gotten more bigger role like I would've love both of them to appear in Akira Kurosawa's film.
-Moonraker, replace Lois Chiles with Jacqueline Bisset as the Bond girl, Gala Brand.
-the 1967 Casino Royale film wouldn't have been a spoof if EON had team up with Charles Feldman, the original producer of the 1967 film. I would've loved Elizabeth Taylor as Vesper Lynd and Peter Cushing as Le Chiffre if that had went that way.
-George Lazenby should've maybe reprise his role for Diamonds are Forever and the film could've been darker.
-A view to a kill, I would've cast Timothy Dalton instead of Moore.
-between License to Kill and Goldeneye, there were opportunity for 2 more Bond films for Dalton.
-Between Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, would've like 1 or 2 more Bond film in between with Daniel Craig.

I hope in the future, they could do this:

-after Daniel Craig is done, please get Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender as Bond.

-Make Carte Blanche as Bond 24.

-Get Christopher Nolan to direct future Bond film.

-for future female M, cast Helen Mirren.

That's not a missed opportunity, we still have time!

She would be very similar to Judi Dench... don't you prefer some variety?

Well I can't think of anybody else beside Helen Mirren. But if people do want a future female M, Helen Mirren could be the one. I know she has the Judi Dench's aura out of her. But I don't know who else beside her could fit as M.

  • They really should have cast Jason Isaacs as Bond. Too late now though. :(

Have to agree with many before me - Diamonds are forever is one of the weakest films for me.
Having it follow on from OHMSS and Lazenby and MR Kojak reprise thier roles would of made more sense. But things happen and what we would like in life does rarely happen

    Making Paris Carver, Sylvia Trench.

Agreed. Plus originally it was supposed to be Natalya but I don't think that would have worked.

When you think about it, it would have added A LOT of depth to that film as far as Bond fans are concerned. Do you ever think EON would recast a Bond girl from the past in the same manner as Bond?

They came close to bringing Honey Rider back in LALD but that never happened either.
  • Get rid of Karin Dor as Helga Barndt in YOLT, and replace her with a Japanese SPECTRE lady, played by Kumi Mizuno of Godzilla fame. And maybe have Aki live and take Kissy's place. Mie is pretty and all, but her character was weak.

I prefer the Natalya idea. Trench hadn't been in any films for ages, she was Connerys bit on the side while he wasn't on a mission.

Natalya was in the film before, where she was with Brosnans Bond and had great chemistry with him.

    On the other Hand, Natalya would have died and that would make me sad since she's my favorite Bond girl. ;-;

He lacked the class kick assery and sheer coolness of a Craig and Connery
Sorry, I don't mean Pierce, though he had his rough patches in the role too. I am more referring to the tacky scripts and the fact that Brosnan wasn't allowed to play Bond the way he wanted. That last bit was the big big big missed opportunity. Coulda been special.

It would have been interesting to have Natalya return, but it would have diminished GE on repeat viewings since she would now be seen as doomed, no?

As much as I love Natalya (easily a top 5 Bond girl for me) I would have loved to see her in TND. It could have saved a lot of what was wrong with the film, and having a Bond girl you knew so well taken away so ruthlessly would have been unforgettable. Pierce's acting would have been great during the scene where he found the body.

In any case, Paris should have been a former Bond girl. Teri Hatcher or not

it would have been nice if they found a very talented British or Irish actor in his late 20's but Cavill can't act in what i've seen of him. It would have been nice if Craig was a few years younger bu what can you do. Casino Royale was a Classic and Craig has put the Franchise back on the map as a big player. I feel his performances alone as Bond have given the films a major boost after years of Bond actors hamming it up (excluding Dalton who was let down by not so great scripts)

Sorry misread you :). But I just fell out of love with Bond when Brosnan was at the helm. Too Roger Moore like for my tastses, I feel he couldn't have acted like Craig simply cause he hasn't got the acting abilities like Craig. I agree he wasn't given great scripts but he could have stepped in and raised his opinions and asked for changes.

Issacs would have made a great Bond. Sadly he's so typecast as bad guys he'd make a great Bond Villian
  • The Garden of Death, Scaramanga (Christoper Lee was great but they didn't do the character justice with the plot), Blofeld's death, Honey Ryder and Bond's relationship, Mary Goodnight, Tiffany Case.

I haven't seen him in anything besides The State Within, where he plays a British ambassador, so... :)

Mine too (From the Brosnan era that is!). Maybe if Brosnan had a fifth, they could've brought his time in the role full circle by having her return as the Bond girl for that outing.

It would have been great to see him end his era with her in his arms. I feel that out of all the Bond girls of his era he loved Natalya the most, and there truly was great love and passion between them that glows off the screen. It's one of the best things GE has to offer.

  • If they don't bother to at least mention Quantum in connection with SPECTRE, it will truly be a big mistake. I'd also prefer it if they would go all the way in and tie it back to the 60s movies if they're going to bring back SPECTRE, but that's less of a sticking point.
  • Two: You Only Live Twice and The Man with the Golden Gun. Christopher Lee was a great Scaramanga and they could have made his final encounters with Bond more like the fascinating climax of the book. I loved the fun house idea, I just don't think it was suited to Scaramanga. You Only Live Twice is also one of my favorites, but I would really like to see Blofeld in his Garden of Death, along with the thrilling climax from the original novel.
