No Jeffrey Wright?

I am really disappointed to see that Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter was not part of the official announcement. However, since they also didn't announce Jesper Christensen as Mr. White (and we know he is coming back), maybe there is still a chance that Wright will return as Felix, but they just haven't announced it yet. Thoughts?

Jeffrey Wright confirmed recently he wouldn't be in B24 due to other commitments. I posted it in another thread at the time but would struggle to find it now. Hopefully he will return at some point.
  • With the inclusion of Mr. White, it does seem that QUANTUM is going to be tied into this story in some way (whether it was destroyed by SPECTRE or absorbed, I don't know). Therefore, since Felix and the CIA were so interested in QUANTUM in "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace," it makes sense that they would come back.

Though Wright mentioned he wouldn't be in Bond 24, I'm hoping there is still a sliver of opportunity. His role in Hunger Games is not large and the character of Leiter doesn't have to play an integral role. I do hope he eventually breaks the record for most times as Felix :)

Dominic Greene told Bond everything he needed to know about Quantum. I think it's extremely unlikely that the word 'Quantum' will be mentioned at all in SP.

Felix never showed any interest in Mr White, hence there's probably no need for Felix in this film.
  • Maybe David Harbour can return as Gregg Beam then? :)
  • Sure, Dominic Greene told Bond about QUANTUM, but there was no indication that the organization had been completely destroyed by the end of QoS. QUANTUM was bigger than just Dominic Greene. And the CIA might not have been interested in Mr. White, but they were interested in QUANTUM and Mr. White was part of QUANTUM. I may be wrong, but the inclusion of Mr. White indicates, to me at least, that QUANTUM will at least be brought up in the film, either as part of SPECTRE or as a rival. Why else have Mr. White in the film if it is not going to be brought up?

I agree with JWPepper6, I'm more inclined to believe that Quantum will be brought back to tie up loose ends and/or somehow aid with the introduction of Spectre. Perhaps Quantum is a branch of Spectre, perhaps a competing organization, hell, maybe it even IS Spectre.

Either way, there does potentially seem to be a role for the CIA/Felix if Quantum is indeed returning, but I'm not holding out hope.

I shall miss him, but no matter. There is an opportunity for him to return in B25. Something to look forward to.

I miss Wright's Felix as well. Maybe he was just bluffing all those months back and will appear. It might not be a massive part, but enough to make his presence known. This film is looking impressive already, and that would really throw it over the top.

I wanted Wright's Felix very much. But with the script changes, it seems that character is not needed for this one. He first said he was back (2 years ago?) but recently said not for this one. I hope he returns for Bond 25.

Since Felix is likely still working South America for the CIA, we might not see him even in a cameo here, you're right. Like you said though, @4EverBonded, there's always Bond 25. And I get the feeling Bond 24's story will bleed into 25, especially if it is to be Dan's last. What better way to go out then on a SPECTRE/Blofeld story arc?

I am sincerely hoping that Jeffrey Wright returns as Felix in Bond 25! Don't let a talent like him miss out on another Bond film! [-O<

Tanner, Felix, Mallory, Q, they're all Blofeld! Only one is the genuine article of course, the others are just clones created to throw off the scent. Yep, we've cracked it. Nice try EON, nice try. ;)

Everybody on this forum is Blofeld! >:)
  • Even if he doesn't appear, it would be nice to have him mentioned. Come to think of it, has Felix ever been explicitly mentioned in a film where he doesn't appear?
  • Already postet this on another thread:
Jeffrey Wright won't be in BOND24:

"Before I go, I have to ask: Bond 24? Any chance you’ll be in it?"
"No. Felix is going to be playing Beetee [from "The Hunger Games/Mockingjay"] next fall or whenever it comes out."

So either Felix won't be in BOND24 or we'll have another Felix. I'd love to have a Felix but another change would be just so... crackbrained!

If there were to be any tv series or web series used to help promote SP, Felix and Beam would make a great duo as the stars.

  • I have seen so many posts about the popularity of Felix and Beam, I almost feel there should be a petition for a mini-series.

I will be happy just for Felix to return in Bond 25?
  • Here's hoping. As long as they don't kill him off, that would be a tempting but disastrous move.

Can you start one? QoS did make a lot of money still. Perhaps at least a web series or web based teaser could test the waters of the potential show's viability.

On a sode note, Jeffrey Wright does in fact love peppers. He made a food documentary about his travels for exotic peppers.

@LeiterTheMan, such a series couldn't even survive a single episode. Leiter works very well in the context of the Bond universe and then only in the shadow of Bond.

Plus, why would you want to dilute our beloved franchise with spin-offs?

Shame I'd have loved to see him in action with Bond in a commando attack
    Or similar action sequence.

I suppose so, but man, I *hated* that guy. Guess that's a testament to how well the character was portrayed!
If I ever see that guy again, it'll be too soon.
