It's Glencoe, Scotland and has the 3,353ft mountain Buachaille Etive Mor as a backdrop. It's about an hour's walk from the A82.

I doubt that location would be on Street view.

It is Google Earth at 56*37'07.23''N 4*55'53.53''W

This 'track' leads South from the A82 and is signposted 'Glen Etive'. I drove down this track last summer looking for the location. I ended up at the building on the linked page above.

That lodge is 'Dalness' which I believe is the Fleming home Michael G Wilson mnetions in the commentary. It looks very similar to 'Skyfall' and is possibly it's inspiration. Before seeing the film I had assumed that the DB5 was parked in view of that. Sadly I was wrong but ended up with a similar shot to the one in the movie and promotion shot.

Incidently in the finished movie the DB5 starts on the track quite a way down then in the aerial shot from behind is back on the A82 and then back on the track but near the turn off from the A82!

thanks for the coordinates and info, very useful!

    56*37'07.23''N 4*55'53.53''W

but are the above coordinates 100% correct? google maps does not like it and copy and pasting the above directly into google earth and that does not like it either

That's probably because there should be a degrees symbol after the 56 and the 4. It's definitely the right place.

sorry yes my bad. thanks very much for the help. much appreciated :)
  • I was looking for it while touring Scotland on my motorbike... If you turn off the main road through glencoe and head for glen etive (sign posted) it is exactly 4.2 kilometres down that road... Take plenty of midge spray, they don't normally bother me but they are abundant here.... I can't post my pic but if you email me @ [email protected] I will send you it, the rock in the foreground had had the moss removed/stolen but there is a distinct white patch where it is in the original picture :)

Last year at the Glencoe visitors center there was a map, I took a photo. Hope it's clear enough. I found it quite easily afterwards. Cool.

Here's my van in the spot where the DB5 was parked.
I prefer to drive a Vauxhall Combo Van myself, of course.

Without really trying, I went to a few Skyfall locations last year. I was in Glencoe anyway, so when I saw the Bond exhibition at the visitor's centre it was a bonus. And on a trip to London I saw the Mi6 building and the painting in the National Gallery. There's quite a few easy sites in London that are used in the film.
Glencoe is amazing though. The drive down the A82 and the Glen Etive road affords surely some of the most breath-taking scenery on these Islands.
The location scouts certainly did their homework for Skyfall.

Here's a few more snaps. The sign for the exhibition at the visitor's center...

The exhibition was well presented, but nothing amazing. No movie props or owt, but it was free, and there was plenty of info on the filming. It was a fun presentation.

Here's a screencap of the DB5. You can see it's the same place as the one where my van is in my previous post. I tried to take a picture of me standing with my back to the camera all cool like Craig. But it just looked liked I'd stopped the van to have a piss.

"Is this where you grew up?"

And there's the tree in one of my photos.

The scene immediately after the words "storm's coming" is the bit of road after you turn on the Glen Etive road off the A82.

Writing this makes me want to go back. It's a lovely place, and hunting out the Bond filming sites it an excellent reason for visiting some stunning scenery.
  • Thanks for these Shamanimal! Well found. This scene will be remembered for years to come. Love it or hate it, Skyfall is very memorable.

I haven't looked at the movie discussion forums, but it's hard to believe people could hate Skyfall, in my opinion it's one of the best entries in the series. With Skyfall and Casino Royale, I'd have thought these were gravy days for the Bond movie fan.
    Glad you like my snaps.
