So, the rumor for 'Ghostbusters 3' now is that 'Bridesmaids' director Paul Feig will be helming it, and it will be an all-female reboot...which leads me to believe that Melissa McCarthy will be on the team. Interest = lost.

Sounds like it will flop harder than Expendables 3 will.

It's weird to me because for years, all they've talked about is trying to get the entire cast back...now out of the blue, it's rumored that it'll be an all-female cast? Who knows. It's taken this long, I figure if they want it to get moving, they'll have to find a brand new cast or something.

Especially with the very sad loss of Harold Ramis, they delayed the project far too long!

@RogueAgent, absolutely. Ramis passed away, and isn't it Murray that they've had a hard time with, in terms of getting him to sign onto the film? They need to do something without wrecking the entirety of it.

Precisely, which leads me to fear the worst with regards to the article.

Same here. I won't pay mind to it, I'll just sit back and wait it out. The film has been in development hell for many years now. I don't even see the point at this juncture, just another unwarranted sequel that nobody really craved.

Ghostbusters 3 will never happen. It will just become another urban legend like the Jinx Spinoff movie.

@RogueAgent, more than likely! They appear to release more news on the film weekly, yet it never seems to make any progress. ;)

@Murdock, I'd say they're different. Work IS being done for 'Ghostbusters 3' (with no progress being made, it seems), while the 'Jinx' film was just a rumor...a horrible, awful rumor that died a quick death, thankfully.

A script was actually done? I never knew that. I remember reading something about it at the time it was announced and never heard anything more on it. I was 11 or 12 at the time, though, so I'll chalk that up to why I don't recall all of this. ;)

Glad that never came to fruition.

That is only two articles of many. Stephen Frears was set to direct and so much more. The main reason it was done was to fill in the time before the next "we can't figure it out" Bond film. Once MGM pulled the plug on it and EON got thinking about 007 again, they only figured Bond out when they realised Casino Royale was sitting there. You know the story from there I take it.

That I do. Well a simple rumor or a heavily planned film, I'm glad it didn't see the light of day...

...on second thought, I'm actually curious as to how atrocious that movie would've been. Worse than 'Catwoman?' Probably.

I can´t believe who got the idea of making a spin-off in the first place. I´m one of the few who likes DAD, but certainly not because of Jinx. Was there anybody out there from the general audience who would have paid to see a Jinx movie :-/ ?
  • I remember @Pierce2Daniel started a very interesting thread about the Jinx spin off, apparentely everyone involved was disappointed when it was scrapped and some of it may have made it into CR.

Unfortunately it was derailed by people slagging off DAD. I think it's crap don't get me wrong (probably the worst Bond film) but the constant bashing and bad jokes about it (DUD. Hilarious.) get dull after a while.

Kingsman is pushed to 2015 :( Bummer. But February 2015 now seems packed. Exciting month. Entire 2015 sounds amazing.

Also I had no idea there was a script developing about a Jinx movie...out of all people that can get a spinoff movie Jinx ? Really ?

But when I'll think about it Bond is big enough franchise that doesn't need any spinoffs, the James Bond Jr. cartoon should be proof for this.

I seriously hope they won't go down the spinoff route in the future

  • They've made one film in this series. It didn't do as well as expected at the box office and it got a very mixed reception (personally I was one of the people that thought it was crap). So why are they announcing all these sequels? And why so many years in advance, when none of them have begun production?

And don't we have enough superhero films already? Jesus. It's bad enough that why have multiple Marvel films a year (this year there's been a new Captain America, Spiderman and X Men film and that Guardians film) but now there's gonna be loads of DC films too? Is anyone else really sick of them at this point?
