I really do want to watch Spartacus:Blood and Sand so that's on my list, in the meantime I am going to plough through the first 5 seasons of Lost.
I only watched the final season when the show was airing and found it to be riveting. I had only casually watched snippets of the previous 5 seasons as I felt, kinda "Lost" everytime I tuned it in.

I am 12 episodes into season 1. This maybe the smartest TV show ever made. It is so damn good. I love going back to see how the whole series started and the initial relationship between the characters.

===Just finished watching the 3rd season of True Blood. I really did enjoy the first two seasons- found them quite funny, smart and snappy and enjoyably over the top. However I feel like I need a shower after watching Season 3.
12 hours of utter depravity. Enough already !!!!
I get it, that vampires and werewolves are sex obsessed kink monsters. True Blood has become vampire porn.
It was like a welcome little break when the characters had their clothes on for 5 minutes and they weren't bathed in blood or had blood all over their faces. Didn't their human mothers teach them to wash their face after slobbering messy red substances.
I can drink cranberry juice without wearing it all over my face all day. Not that hard.
Vampires are not only depraved psychos but also slobs.

  • I've been watching Saturday Night Live episodes from the late 80s and early 90s. God, I those were some great times in television!

I felt similarly after season 1. By mid season 3, I was so pissed I gave up on the show. Buyer beware.

Spartacus - Gods of the Arena This prequel to Blood and Sand was made as Spartacus actor Andy Whitfield had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, it was thought that he would recover for the shooting of season 2, and the prequel was made. Interesting to see the house of Batiatus rise with the takeover of Quintus Lentulus from his father Titus, and the discovery of Gaul slave Crixus getting his ass kicked to later become the Champion of Capua in Blood and Sand, the most interesting element to me was the love story between the pre-Doctore, and recovering Oenomaus from his fight with Theocoles, and his loving wife Melitta, caught in a nasty secret with house champion Gannicus. I found the series to be quite enjoyable as a whole, a bit less than Blood and Sand even if I prefered the much more charismatic Gannicus over Spartacus himself 7.5/10

    Archer
    Series: 2
    Episode: 13 - Double Trouble

Almost OHMSS there, with Archer about to propose to Katya, when (Bionic) Barry shows up for revenge. So that's it for series 2? Dammit. All in all, though this series had some good episodes

Swiss Miss, A Going Conern, Pipeline Fever & Movie Star

I thought series one was better with: Mole Hunt, Training Day, Diversity Hire, Skorpio, Skytanic*, The Rock & Job Offer

    * My favourite episode of not only series one, but of both series

    -----

Graffitti on the Tardis, red Kangs and blue Kangs, Pex the cowardly cutless, Mel menaced by a giant yellow crab, rezzies, caretakers and a dictator. It ould only be one show...

    Doctor Who: Paradise Towers
    Episodes: 1 - 4 (all)

After the shakey start that was Time And The And The Rani McCoys second story is a more stable platform. Gone are the mixed metaphors, instead we he a Doctor who would gradulay change of this series and the next. I still maintain that there is no such thing as a bad McCoy story, just lesser ones, and being part of series 24, this is certainly a lesser one.

I thought the series was spectacular up to the end of season 3. After that I thought it was rubbish, and only watched to see how it would end.

I've made my thoughts about how I hated Lost well known on the previous forum often, it started so well, and got so bad so quickly... It's a real shame. Most people I know gave up during/after season 3.

Kept watching Entourage, DC? Season 8 just started.

    I just rewatched:

Mission Impossible - 2/5 I didn't like the idea of Jim being the bad guy - that was sacrilegious and the story was convoluted

Mission Impossible 2 - 3.5/5 John Woo is a good action director but this movie has more holes than Swiss cheese - probably because the final cut was 2 hr and 3 min and Woo actually filmed 3 1/2 hrs of footage

Mission Impossible 3 - 3.75/5 a bit better than the previous 2 M-I entries but they should had done without the romance/marriage subplot

and I guess Michelle Monaghan won't be back for Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Just finished watching yet another fantasy/drama series set in the old days. This time it was Camelot starring Eva Green as the evil Morgan, Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Prince Arthur.

    image

This new take on the King Arthur legend is darker and much edgier than most previous movies and series. Relatively speaking, I'd call this the worse of the recent "fantasy, Medieval/Roman-type series we've had" (Rome > A Game of Throne > Spartacus: Blood and Sand > Camelot) but it is still highly entertaining. There is some very good acting by most characters, but this series did seem to have a few filler episodes, and lacked a bit of character development for Arthur.

Secondary actors Tamsin Egerton (Guinevere), Claire Forlani (Igraine), and James Purefoy (King Lot) were outstanding, which really helped strengthen the show's biggest weakness, which was King Arthur's character.

I'm saddened to discover that starz has decided not to go on with season 2, but highly recommend the show to anyone who enjoys Fantasy, or any of the shows listed in here.

    7.5/10

Yeah, after a while, 'Lost' turned into a show that offered many more questions than it did answers. That Season One Finale/Season Two Premiere? Just amazing, blew me away. After that, it slowly degraded.
  • Been watching the latest Torchwood: Miracle Day series, and so far it started out exciting, (But with obvious special FX used as Gun and rocket shots) and then has slightly gone down-hill and boring. They should have made it a three-parter or something, i'm losing interest.

Agreed. They should've changed the last name of the character Voight played to someone else. And one of the girls should've been named Cinammon.

I am watching this, a couple of episodes a day if I have the time, each episode about 49 minutes long, 22 episodes total, 5 DVD set

    http://www.amazon.com/War-WWII-Battles-Russian-Front/dp/B004NJC0I4

I've seen most of the World War 2 documentaries: World at War, World War 2, World War 2 in HD, Ken Burns' the War, etc etc

but this one takes the cake!!

they say they went thru million of feet of footage shot by the soviets during the war and never before seen in the West and they weren't kidding!

This documentary has some pretty brutal and graphic footage!!

Hitler invaded Russia on June 22nd, 1941 and by August 1941, he was already being pushed back by the Russian Army: he'd already lost half a million men, 1,300 tanks and 2000 planes

    yet he kept going

the end results by the end of World War 2, 5 million men lost on the German Side, 25 million men, women and children lost on the Russian side - 3 million of those were POW of which 2/3 of them were never seen alive

    for what?

    it's pretty brutal!!

like at one village, the Nazi SS killed 10,000 civilians including babies and children

and they showed footage of it; dead mothers still clinging their babies/children in their arms and both the mothers and their babies had bullet holes in them!!

Just sad that the human race will do this to one another.

Even animals in the African Safari behaves better than we do, they only kill each other for food.

Stalin was not a Saint either, he even killed his own Generals, Commanders and Officers who failed him and then replaced them with new ones

I just finished the Battle of Smolensk episode, the Russian city on the way to Moscow

by late September 1941 - 3 months after Hitler's armies invaded Russia,

Russia has already lost over 2 1/2 million men overall

    that's a lot of people!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Smolensk_(1941)

2 1/2 million men is by the way, the figure German Intelligence put at the total number of Soviet Troops Russia could muster before Operation Barbarossa began

    I guess German Intelligence failed

by the end of the Battle of Smolensk, Hitler was arguing that Russia had no fighting troops left and he thought he had a clear way all the way to Moscow, 230 miles away

did you know Hitler came within 22 miles of the Kremlin and if he did, he would had won the war but he shot himself in the foot by recalling his units and telling them to drive South toward the Oil Fields in the Caucasus

he had 1.6 million troops encircling Moscow that was only defended by 400,000 troops, old men and women and he didn't take advantage of it!!

also the main reason Hitler was defeated was not only because of the Russian Winter

it was also his armies were stretched across a front 1800 miles long and he didn't have the logistics to keep them supplied and the units replaced

fighting units were not getting replacements for their losses or being replaced with fresh units and it was just the constant fighting, attrition and fatigue that worn them down

Before Operation Barbarossa even began, his units were already not fully equipped, many units were not at full strength and many other units lacked transports and armor support and fighting vehicles

    yeah, good planning there, Adolf!!

First Episode of the 1943 "Batman" Serial

Obviously a TADDD raciest being made in the height of WW2. By Tad i mean a lot. Thing I didn't know it was this little episode that came up with the now famous "(The) Bat('s) Cave". It is slightly camp but not to the point of the 1960's TV show and BTBATB. I Do have to give the award to best live action robin (of i've seen) which isn't a much contested award (Coughnolan!). My main thing is the main villein Dr. Dude-Thig-whatshisname using uranium to build a gun that can destroy anything. I have 2 problems with him 1. his voice Obviously american, he sounds like Humphrey bogart after 12 pints and swallowing a whistle, which gets annoying fast! and the henchmen who are electronic zombies!! i mean the comics have been going 70 years and there no zombies YET!!! I would prefer for hypnosis or blackmail but as i said camp. Also the costumes make Adam West and Burt Ward look like Prada!

All in all fun but forgettable

    6.25/10

Matt Houston: "Get Houston". Houston battles a psychotic old enemy(played by Chuck "The Rifleman" Connors). Bond series veteran Don Stroud(Heller in LTK) plays an escaped convict in this episode.

Lost Complete Season 2. So far so good. Its sill the best and smartest TV show ever made IMO. Season 3 coming up!
When I'm done the series, I think I'll check out Sharon Kaye's, "Ultimate Lost and Philosophy book." This show fascinates me. Its got really smart themes.

This is essentially how I felt after 2 seasons. It was one of my favourite shows of all time. And 10 episodes in season 3, I loathed the show. Hope you have better experience than I had. ;)
