I never said Q should have. I'm saying sometimes circumstances would justify a trip abroad to equip Bond, like in TB and YOLT. Not that I'm a fan of the latter, but his presence was I thought done properly.

I never said you did, it was a general question of me wondering why Q would have flown in with Eve.

Back on the Monneypenny thing. Can imagen a scene where Bond leaves Ms office and says to Monneypenny off to work in the field and Monneypenny says im coming with you and James says sit your ass down and say behind that desk where you belong bitch.

Well that escalated quickly. In what realm would this scene work?

Has this James Bond gone back in time to the 1970's?

And let's also remember that Q has a dislike of flying.

Only the great Sean Connery has come close to 'amusing' me with sexism.

    :))

Yeah, I guess it could have been quite a while between when Bond talks to M and shoots Mr White in the leg. It's hard to believe that it could have been years though. The fact that the ticket to the party on QOS was dated 2008 though implies that it may have been. Something doesn't seem consistent. It's like how in the film version of OHMSS, Blofeld doesn't recognise Bond when they'd already met in the volcano. Well, Bond had become a Lazenby look alike by then so I guess one can't be too hard on Blofeld. ;)

I always thought the time gap between CR and QOS was explainable by the fact that Bond is always set in the here and now, so if CR was set in 2006, QOS retcons it.

As for YOLT and OHMSS, with minor retcons it can be explained.

QOS should have been set in 2006 I reckon. It's not like it would have made much difference. The invitation in QOS should have read "2006".

It just makes more sense that QOS happens shortly after CR, as Bond is still clearly mourning Vesper. If it was indeed set two years later, Bond would've approached the entire mission differently.

Then again, what if it took Bond two years to properly mourn Vesper on his own time and track down White? Or what if he spent most of that time waiting - isn't entirely plausible - but it could be seen as a "revenge is a dish best served cold" kind of deal. Hit White at his estate when he least expects it.

I like to think CR and QoS both take place in 06, which gives Bond many years of field work and experience when we find him in Skyfall. It simply makes no sense for CR and QoS to take place two years apart. Bond wouldn't still be that shaken up, Mathis wouldn't still be getting sweated by agents and it certainly wouldn't take Bond that long to find White and strike back. The film would have told us "two years later" or something if this was the case, which it didn't. It think the invitation is a textual flub and the films are supposed to take place just weeks/months apart. I wish there was some clarification on this...

Damn the prop department - or however concocted the ticket - for putting 2008. Always puts this discussion into a confusing loop for me, I'm sure I've changed my ideas on it numerous times.

Guys, WAY too much thought is being put into this. The films take place days apart. That's all there is to it

You're telling this to a slew of die-hard Bond fans...on a die-hard Bond forum. We couldn't possibly put "too much thought" into something Bond related.

The gap between the two films was clarified by the producers and writers from the get-go, as somewhere between 'a few minutes' to 'almost an hour'. The gap being questioned is in CR alone- between Bond talking to M and him shooting White.

Let me get this straight... We've discussed themes focusing on the relevancy of human agents in the spy world during a time where technology has taken dominance, Christian symbolism and the relativity of moral life paths in the context of the international espionage community at work in Skyfall, but too much thought is being put into this argument here? I respectfully think not, sir.

I reckon it would be a few days to a week. How long would it have taken to get the Aston down there though? Maybe Bond went to a dealer in Italy and bought another one on the firms money. In conclusion, I say that the "2008" on the invite in QOS was a slip up on the film makers part.

Or maybe, juuuust maybe, the reason Bond has a different suit on from the ending of CR to the opening of QoS is because he kidnaps White, throws him in the trunk, drives all the way to meet up with Tom Ford who tailors him a new suit, and then he returns and the chase begins. Ehh? Ehh? Anybody?

I've always been of the opinion that Bond has two suits on his person at all times.

Now, are we talking a spare suit nearby, or a 'Spider-Man' type thing where he just tears his suit off to show off another crisp suit?

You could argue the gap between CR and QoS was a few weeks to a couple of months. In reality, the featured production of the Tosca Opera officially started in 2007, meaning at least the early events of QoS could take place in '07. The video below is in Bregenz, the setting of the opera in the film, on the same stage, but in 2007. The only difference I notice is the actor/singer:

(Side note: this would make great audio for an amazing QoS fan trailer/video)

By days, yes I meant hours. All I'm saying is whenever I look at this Bond 24 thread and see many new comments, I get excited/curious. But instead I find a conversation like that going on. No intention to insult anyone, yes us Bond fans will discuss the strangest things from time to time, but wow.

But I do like the two suits theory ...made me laugh haha.

Did I just contradict myself a little here? Why yes, yes I did

I've seen promotional sites where it said QoS takes place 13 hours directly after the Ending of Casino Royale.

Yeah, that's poor, the lack of continuity in terms of Bond wearing a different suit.

Continuity errors are bound to exist in any film. The point is Bond wears a blue suit in CR's ending and wears a blue suit in QoS's PTS. Besides didn't they change clothing lables from CR to QoS? Nothing is perfect. I think the only direct sequels to make things look perfect was the Back to the Future movies.

@Murdock, that's the exact reason why the suits are different: they changed designers.

I would say the transition from 'The Matrix Reloaded' to 'The Matrix Revolutions' did an excellent job in terms of continuity, but then again, the films were shot back-to-back.
