What looks thin and reedy about him? That pic, for starters.

He's beyond Bond now. Time to let him go. Let Pierce make rom-coms and films he enjoys. I must say his acting has improved in several of his films. But the accent hasn't.
Where Connery can play Sean Connery in any role, Pierce has that Irish / American accent pop out all to often, and in Bond it was painfully obvious. Much like his painface.

I'm actually not that crazy about where Brosnan's career is at now. I miss his earlier post-Bond films, like 'Tailor of Panama', 'The Thomas Crown Affair', and 'The Matador'. These rom-coms don't impress me, and the only film that I was pretty interested in was 'St. Vincent', and now it is no longer on his IMDB filmography. Granted, IMDB is none too reliable, but still. I want him to do another raw, filthy character like Julian Noble, or someone with a unique secret, like Gideon in 'Seraphim Falls' or Richard Langley in 'Married Life'.

Amen to this. He has moved on so should his non/fans. I dont watch his era much because it doesnt interest me. But I accept he kept the franchise going - and at least deserves credit for that.

I have never seen fandom divided so much since the Brosnan era. Back in the Rog Moore days there would be a letter to the JBBFC saying "I miss the seriousness of the early Connery films but it doesnt stop me enjoying the current films"

That was as nasty as it got. But nowadays with Brosnan podders and CraignotBond its all become abit unpleasant.

Well I'll say this much, he's by far the least intimidating and least physically imposing Bond. It looks like a stiff breeze could knock him over.

Why thank you @Benny. I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Indeed. As is always said, if all six Bonds were in a ring, Brosnan would be the first out.

Thanks @Jinx. And im sure someone will mention Roger Moore. But keep in mind Moore actually served in the Navy for a couple of years and was a policeman for a short amount of time. Like James Bond theres more to him than meets the eye.

And I agree, Brosnan's voice always annoyed me. He sounded like he should be doing shampoo commercials not James Bond.

I think the difference with Brosnan and Moore was that Brosnan had a youthfulness and could move quicker. Hence I think he would last SLIGHTLY longer in a fight than Moore. Take the scene when on the boat in GE when he fights that thug who runs up behind him? I never saw Moore do that. Seemed pretty convincing to me.

In Moore's defense I recently rewatched TMWTGG after several years and I was suprised how good he looked in the karate dojo scene. And he was 46 at the time. It was just his age and the fact that he did most of his films in his 50s. Still niether compare to a young Connery, Lazenby, or Craig in that dept.

Agreed, all three would pummel both (and Dalton too I suspect).

Dalton's firmly in the middle. He'd hold his own or atleast last longer than Moore and Brosnan.

I think it would go like this:

    6. Moore
    5. Brosnan
    4. Dalton
    3. Connery
    2. Lazenby
    1. Craig

We never saw Dalton in a full on no-holds-barred fight Connery or Craig style. I suppose that bar fight in kill was the closest we came.

However he was pretty good in Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg even though he got beaten.

There's absolutely no way Lazenby would beat up Connery. Back then or now.

It would be a close call that's for sure but I suspect a young Laz would edge it slightly. He did have a bit of martial arts training with Bruce Lee afterall.

    Back on topic.

Lazenby couldn't have handled Grant, that's for sure.

The thing is Connery almost lost too but only won thanks to Q's case.

Lazenby would have choked on dinner saving Grant the trouble. what an uncultured scoundrel.

He didn't lose. A fight is not measured by its start but its finish. Bond was held by gunpoint, and the fight was made fair when Grant was disarmed. Then Connery won the fight, man to man.

he got impaled on a miniature and started crying about ice cream! once a pansy always a pansy.

The thing is if Q's case wasn't there or conveniently in his reach Connery would have probably been garotted by Grant.

If you want a fight where Connery wins fair and square then the PTS of TB is the one to watch.

We need to stop this argument :)

Gents this is veering off topic slightly. Let's leave who's dad could beat up the other alone and get back to the topic at hand.

    Was Pierce really that bad?

We already settled matters if you looked at the above post. I know when a topic has gone off track. @BAIN and I were simply doing a comparison.

I wonder if he breaks down everytime he hears people's positive feedback about Craig. Oh no! Creative juices are flowing! Here's how things could have happened in 2006 for Brosnan:

Brosnan is roaming around and happens to pass by an unknowing couple. From a few feet away he takes in the conversation: "Hey, did you see the new Bond film this weekend?"
    "What? Casino Royale?"
    "Yeah."
"No I haven't. Is it any good?"
"Any good! Why it's one of the best of the series! Craig is amazing, much better than that guy from the show Rermington Stehle, or something like that. It doesn't matter."

Brosnan looks to the man at afar and coughs *It was Remington Steele you ass*
@BradyM0, this is just too funny. :-)) I can just picture those things happening to poor Pierce.
Back to the topic. I didn't think PB was all that bad. Like a few mentioned, I also grew up on Brosnan as my Bond and I will always associated him as the one that got me into the series. Watching him is what I thought Bond would be like.

Thanks for commenting so positively @Artemis! I too could see Remington Steele and Taffin used against poor Pierce. I am much a Brosnan Bond in the sense that I was born closest to the time of his films. I remember seeing the films as I was growing, but I never paid much attention to them. I was just a kid. Sean's GF got me into Bond, and then I was hooked. He steadfast became my favorite.
