I think it could be really interesting if we could post ALL scripts...

    As educational resource, of course...

I've found some people have made up from typing up the thing from what they watched, but if anyone knows where to lay there hands on scripts please let me know.

I would have been really interested to see how the title sequence in the script would have played out on screen.

I just bought the official "shooting script" (book) of Zero Dark Thirty. That was quite a good read, well written.

Screenplays go through so many changes. It would be lovely to get our hands - I guess I mean take a look at with our eyes- the final scripts of any Bond film. I would especially like to see Craig's.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic when I say this, but I wonder if there was one available for QOS? Could explain a lot more about Fields and Mathis as far as key scenes being written and perhaps Forster being culpable for their omission.

Great finds and thread idea @oo7!

    At last! some praise!
I do not believe there is a completed script for qos, I think because of the writers strike a treatment may have existed alongside a number of planned stunts. Dialogue was apparently improvised by dc and mf

Well I'd like to see the original P+W draft, although I think the chances are non existent. That said, I'd like to see any original/early draft of any film. The final drafts are of no use unless you're planning on becoming a screenwriter and you need some reading material.

I've been doing some reading and checking various sources, and all that can be found is an amateur transcript of all the lines in the film. This much I did find regarding the Haggis script that some of us probably knew about, from Marc Forster-

"Haggis had an idea they weren't fond of, and I didn't know if it would work or not," says Forster. "The idea was that Vesper in the last movie, maybe she had a kid, and there would be an orphan out there. It wasn't anything to insult the franchise. But they felt it wasn't particularly Bond — him looking for the kid. I think Paul thought he just leaves the kid, he doesn't deal with it. But [the producers] thought that would be really nasty, too, because Bond was an orphan himself. If he would find a kid, would he just leave it? They were so vehemently against it. That was the only time I saw, really, 'No, we can't do that.' They said, 'Once he finds the kid, Bond can't just leave the kid. It's not right.'"

Craig has also said that QOS was never supposed to be quite the sequel to CR that it wound up being. Whether he means in regards to Vesper or the idea of QUANTUM in general, I'm not sure. In hindsight though, I am happy it turned out to address both issues because I felt as a viewer that I got closure for Vesper and with a little polish and attention to detail, the possibility of a modernized version of a SPECTRE-type worldwide criminal organization to enjoy in future installments. I'm not one of those totally unsatisfied with what we got, but the question I always wanted to ask and learn is why they didn't see the glaring holes regarding Fields and Mathis? Should we assume that (a) it's because amateurs were involved, or (b) perhaps they did realize these holes when the film was put together and it was decided not to act on it? I can't believe to this day that the "professionals" involved didn't see how glaring the holes were when it all came together regarding the above characters, everyone in about the entire universe could and that includes all the amateurs like most of us. Those scenes such as Fields' death and Mathis' beating could have been filmed with Pinewood but it surely would have required designing sets, and making sure the actors were available to shoot at least two more scenes. The money end shouldn't have been a problem. This is what always really bugged me about the script, the rest was obviously Forster copying Greengrass and failing at it.

The only thing I ever heard myself about the P&W script is another old story, in that they wanted to have Bond pursue and catch Kabira first, who in turn would lead him to Greene and QUANTUM. It seemed like that was indeed the idea when Bond puts Kabira's picture in his pocket, and always made me wonder the first time I saw it if Bond was lying to M about he nor Vesper being "not important". The only people who have the answers are Purvis and Wade themselves and I'd guess someone would have to ask them that question and if their manuscript does still exist. And would they be even be able to talk about it let alone publish it for public view is another question entirely. We all know EON is very guarded in these matters.

That extra deleted scene Forster filmed with Bond killing White is very interesting in the subtext of QUANTUM still being viable in the eyes of EON. I saw that before EON (I'm guessing) got it removed from public domain. Logically you would think that if they wanted to kill off their return, we would have gotten that. Does that make sense, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I'll have to give the CR script a read sometime. Looks pretty tasty. I'd also love to read the GE script, as well.

@SirHenryLeeChaChing, I hate even thinking about the alternate ending to QoS any more. I know we'll never get to see it, so it just upsets me to think about. Can't believe the film didn't come with even a single deleted scene. Even in the finale, there were production photos that showed Bond running down a bridge (I believe) in a blue polo and sunglasses, yet in the finale, he doesn't step foot on a bridge (at least from what we see) and his outfit is entirely different.

I've got the original Goldeneye script that was written by Michael France.
That is completly different from the film that we got.

PM me if you're intrested in it!

Edit: I've got Goldfinger too if someone is intrested.

Yes, I'd be very interested in those. I've just sent you a PM, @MrBond.

I got to check it out the CR script, there's extra dialogue and another CIA agent was substituted for Leiter. You can see some last minute changes were made. Go to @oo7's links to various script sites and you'll find both GF, GE, and TWINE there.

I am guessing you missed the White/Haines scene when it was still available to see. Still almost hard to imagine 5 years on that an updated QOS with deleted scenes has yet to be released. It seems that EON is against doing so for whatever their reasons may be, but given what I've said above I really wouldn't trade in the final QOS scene in order to have the idea of QUANTUM's possible return killed off and that scene's inclusion would have opened the door for that much wider.

I read the CR script last night before bed. Was very good. There is a lot more of Bond's arrogance in it than appears in the film. I also like how the sinking house scene in Venice played out in the script as well.

@SirHenry I wondered at what point they decided to write Leiter into the script instead of Wolpert.

@SirHenryLeeChaChing, I did miss it. You saw it? I searched and searched but all I saw were countless websites talking about it, but zero links. Real shame that nobody out there snagged it up and downloaded it, though I suppose they didn't know it would be removed at the time. Is that why they removed it? So there was no debate about how the film really ended?

Yes I did see what was available and can only assume you are correct in your logic as a partial explanation for it's removal. Even more so though, it is a proprietary thing with EON and that was reason alone let alone any additional motives behind it.

@Willy- no clue for why Wolpert was taken out, except to say that it was Leiter in the novel.

The James Bond Archive elaborates on Purvis & Wade's original QoS Script:

"The script featured a complex and emotionally powerful plot with Bond going in search of Vesper's Boyfriend. Bond then finds himself embroiled in a multilayered charade involving stolen antiquities, arms dealing, precious metals, nerve gas, the CIA, and a mysterious organisation similar to SPECTRE."

'It had much closer links to Casino Royale, so much so that Eva Green was optionally contracted for the second film, where she would appear in flashbacks and as a spectre haunting Bond"

"The plan to release a sequel in November 2007 was shelved. Wade and Purvis continued working on the screenplay and scouting the locations. In 2007, provisional date of December 10th 2007 was set. The draft script submitted in April has scenes sent in 8 countries; Italy, Algeria, Libya, Spain, France, Switzerland, Austria and Equatorial New Guinea.

As in the final film, it started midway through a car chase with Mr White in the trunk of the car, followed by an interrogation, and a dramatic scene amidst the Siena Paulo. It also featured Quantum's secret summit at the Bregenz Festival and brought back Mathis, who would die helping Bond'

Purvis and Wade's script is in there somewhere. I have to say I do like their idea, especially the Vesper flashbacks and haunting Bond.

This sound's so good. Such a shame that Forster shelved it almost completly.

I've seen that some members on CBn had the script among the time of the films premiere, i will look into that!

I would have loved to see how that worked out and to read it, like everyone else. For the life of me, I can't understand why EON, especially as the idea was Mike's brainchild, would allow Forster to scrap it. I'm still mad that Bassey and Eva Almer's submissions for the theme song were declined. If I knew how, I'd alter my DVD to change that.

Gentlemen, all I remember was that it was on youtube as Forster described the scene. Meaning I didn't remember it right as far as Bond interrogating Haines but I did see Craig killing Christensen, of that I am sure. I don't know how it got there and I'm sorry I didn't download it. I seem to also remember something about some object swinging down and decapitating White, but perhaps that was fan made?

@Mr.Bond- min vän, if you could get that script or even find that Danish link, please!
