One piece of small advice to you Thatcher and the effects of her goverment has always been a point of discussion so expect some remarks when everybody is all respectfull and full about her deeds. She is one of the early pioneers for our modern society which is hardly something to rejoice about but is indeed one of the last BIG politicians of the UK.

She did live by her convictions and was probably a nice person privately, and suffering Alzheimer is never something to be envious of.

Her legacy will be spoken of for a long time. And may she indeed rest in peace.

She left people who died at a football match to rot and not only that let them and their family's be blamed for the disaster when it was everyone's but their fault.

People need telling, this is someone who inexplicably lied and led the biggest cover up in British history.

This isn't someone who cared about the whole of the county she was leading, quite the opposite.

How ironic that its almost 24 years to the day that 96 fans went to a football match and never came home.

Our brothers, sisters , fathers , mothers , sons and daughters not only had to witness loved ones being crushed to death , they were also the brunt of the blame , labelled murderers .

For over 20 years a city and its people (all ready left to near near ruin by thatchers government ) has lay wounded by those lies .

In a thread that pays respect to those who have died, I pay respects to the 96.

We may have had major breakthroughs last year with the hillsborough independent panel report , but there is still a lot more work to be done until justice is served.

Come on now, if you're going to honor Margaret Thatcher in this thread, then did you also honor scum bags like Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden when they died?

    David Koresh?

    Idi Amin?

And how dare you try to tell me that I cannot bash this.. you know what. One of my family members died at that stadium and some grief lasts a long time, takes a long time to heal.

Folks, methinks @Benny spelled it out simple enough for everyone to understand. It's not cool the way you're behaving. When last I checked, we were trying to write down comforting words for one of our veteran members who's recently lost a loved one and now 80s politics get brought up to defecate all over the place.

Before you start nagging, remember that political debates never result in winners so it's simply pointless to entertain them on a JAMES BOND forum! Also, some of you are educated folk, but we have 'members' flying in and out who haven't risen above the level of a 14 year old yet and who bring nothing but crackpot bogus to the show because it pleases them to stir things up. Too bad some of you fall for that and actually keep a discussion with said kids going. You ought to know better.

No, we're not going to allow a separate thread to discuss the politics of M.T. either. There are other forums out there for that. This forum of Bond fans is simply too good for that kind of boozed up pub talk.

Unfortunately warnings are going to be sent out soon if this thing keeps going. All our hosts ask from us is to behave like decent people and if some of you can't do that, the rest of us will show you to the door. And for the record, wishing a recently deceased woman will burn in hell is not decent. Personally I wish the passing away of M.T. never got brought here for it brings us nothing but flags and PMs from normal people, politely asking us to return to an apolitical forum which, by the way, is indeed what we want it to be.

So we trust the last word on the M.T. issue has been said here and those who wish to elaborate on the matter are hereby asked to turn to appropriate Internet fora that make such talk their business.

    Thank you and IFM!

Thanks mods - and I apologise for my postings.
    One question.
Should we start a politics thread?
I don't see why we need to keep apolitical - we are all adults here, and only a coward does not stand up to their convictions or explain their views.
I for one would very much be interested in seeing a thread about Bond himself's politics - where does he lie on the spectrum.
    Could be fascinating! :)

It's simple. Open up such a thread and within a few posts' time you reach heated debate with "you this or that" - "no, YOU this or that" speech all over it. Another couple of posts and we need to proceed by removing insulting language, issuing IFM's and warning people - possibly ban otherwise nice members who get pushed over the edge in matters of politics. We've seen it all before, a long - long time ago on a previous forum.

The adult argument doesn't convince me, not after all the mess we're still cleaning up after the SF turmoil that some inflammable subjects couldn't resist but ignite over and over and over again. To back up my very point, just scroll back two or three posts and behold: adults can't even get over the corpse of Margaret Thatcher in - get this! - a thread one visits only to pay deference to a deceased icon or to respect someone dear who's passed away.

It . Doesn't . Work! It never works. Go and check out some of those digital newspaper websites where registered users can comment on news flashes. The place gets ruined over even the smallest disagreement, let alone when the big issues are held under the looking glass.

As for the Bond politics thing, a thread like that involves speculation at best. One might discuss the political ideas of Fleming, for those at least can be somewhat verified, and from there on move to Bond's political mind. I don't know. It might work, though my heart burns with fear.

Nice one @DarthDimi , I don't take back anything at all I've said but yes there is a time and a place and I was actually so disillusioned I nearly ended up sacking the forums off.
It would've been daft at the end of the day , I'm here like the majority because I love bond and there is a brilliant community here no matter what kind of drivel is posted at times.

I just found out Nobel-prize laureate Sir Robert Edwards has died today.

For those who don't know he was the scientist who developed the so-called "test-tube baby". He was not only an amazing scientist but also by all accounts an extraordinary human being and an inspiration to those who, like me, work in this area.

Sir Robert Edwards' influence in the world of the biological sciences cannot be understated. Thank you for bringing his demise to our attention, @Sandy! I would like to honour him.
  • RIP Sir Robert Edwards. I've read some 5 million births world wide were made possible thanks to his pioneering work.

I understand you may not like this discussion continuing and yes some of the comments on here have been a bit OTT but I do take offence if you are tarnishing me with the same brush @DarthDimi.
I though I was being very reserved and respectful in my comments, believe me I could say a lot more.
I have only been replying to comments made to me, I was even called a Yank for goodness sake :))

I have absolutely no problem with this, @baronsamedi76, that is until the next effort by troublemakers shifts this thread once more into active fighting. You may play things cool, several others don't. I don't mind the heart that burns, I do mind the inflammable elements and what happens when they come too close.

  • Can't believe what this thread has turned into. Pay respects thread to now discussing the BNP. What's next up for discussion? Jimmy Saville and broader subject of perverts. Come on guys, give it a break!

51 years old. My God, RIP Mr. France.

It is said he died at home following an extended illness. I suppose it didn't help France suffered from diabetes that impaired his left arm and right leg.

God, I am sorry to hear about this. I didn't know him, but he was from my hometown, St. Pete. I used to go to the Beach theater sometimes (which he owned), it was a real local landmark until it had to close. And he gave us Goldeneye - what a gift to all Bond fans, forever. RIP, dear Michael France.

I am also sorry to hear about Jonathan Winters - a really original, funny, and influential comedian who was part of my childhood.
