Back on topic: does anyone think what party Bond would vote for?
    I see him as Labour.
He is a working man, part of a BIG GOVERNMENT, fighting against the twisted ideologies of large scale capitalists.
He would shed no tears for MT. In fact he left her hanging in FYEO :D :D what a legend!

James Bond is not a working man.

He is an old Etonian, part of the establishment and the old boy network and fought his whole life against Communism. To think he would vote anything other than Tory is gross delusion.

Bond once said in FRWL that "we no longer show teeth...only gums". He may have disliked the idea of a woman having that much power (Casino Royale anyone?) but he would have admired MT for 'showing teeth'. I personally can't see him being particularly sympathetic with the Unions or miners in the north. He probably would have blamed the former for crippling the country.

My condolences, @thelivingroyale. Rocky no doubt was a good companion and close friend. Animals can bond with people in ways some people fail to bond with each other. I hope you can find some comfort but I deeply respect the post and empathise with your sadness.

My heartfelt condolences, @thelivingroyale. I know you mentioned him sometimes, and I always could feel the love you had for him. You had rescued him as a pup, I remember. Well, he had a great life with you I am sure ... but that doesn't keep the sadness or grief away, believe me I know. I have had beloved pets all of my life.
Take care, and hold onto the wonderful memories of him.

Might I just be permitted to add before the fire leaves me that I think people who celebrate Margaret Thatcher's death are actually pretty sick individuals that really need help. This has always disgusted me personally. Nobody deserves such villification as this poor elderly woman. Leave her alone. She was someone's mother and grandmother. She led Britain for 11 and a half years and though she was certainly controversial, this is still Thathcher's Britain. Gone are the darker days of the 1960s and 1970s. Give Baroness Thatcher some credit - she had a very difficult job in getting Britain on its feet again.

Well said. She unquestionably destroyed the lives of many people but in life sometimes you have to sacrifice things or yes even people for the greater good. We were the "sick man of Europe", and she changed all that. I find it unbelievable that people still blame her for problems we have today. Yes she started the process but she hasn't been in power for decades! If what she did was so bad it could and would have been reversed by now. And she at least understood the concept of managaing your finances. She ran the country, economically, like you would a business. When your business is in turmoil you have to cut unneccessary costs including the workforce. When you do this many people are not going to be happy but it has to be done for the greater good of the business. Labour would spend, spend and spend even when the business is making loads of money, and when the business starts going down hill would carry on taking on even more debt until they were bankrupt!

OK, if Bond follow Toryism to its ultimate conclusion, then BANG goes his job.
You would see Bond waiting on the breadline like all working men!
Monsters like Drax, Dominic Green they take control.
Because apparently, the $ is always right.
What is Quantum if not deregulated government?
Bond is a good man, with a heart, and thus cannot turn Tory.

But UK is not a business.
It is a country, with humans in it.
Countries cannot be run like businesses.
Thatcher was an inhuman monster who mistook her own good fortune for everyone else's stupidity and laziness.
UK is a hellhole today, look at the 2011 riots - a hell on earth.

Put it this way , I don't think a lot of the actors who have played bond are Tories.

Me I'm not so sure about that?
Connery and Moore both seem Tory to me.
Moore seems old and just generally conservative, and Connery seems stupid and greedy and would support whoever would let him keep his money.
But both are great Bonds and I adore them onscreen! :)
    Especially Sean :x
Dalton, Brosnan I think would be good Labour men.
Brosnan especially has shown support for the powerless, but helping animals and the environment and supporting Obama.
What a man what a man what a man, what a might great man, great big man! :-*
Craig it's too soon to tell. I am leaning towards Labour but he seems cranky like a Tory.
    Lazenby - who cares? :))

Let's look at it through another lens.
    Goldfinger - Tory.
    Largo - Tory.
    Stromberg - Tory.
    Drax - Tory.
    Camel Khan - Tory, kingdom.
    Zorin - Tory.
Sanchez - Tory offscreen too (Robert Davi is a headcase)
Trevelyan - started a Labour man, turned evil, became private sector Tory.
Carver - big time Tory. "GET OUT OF MY WAY, I'M RICH!"
Gustac Graves - Tory AND North Korean :)) Pure evil :))
    Le Chiffre - Tory
    Green - Tory
What is Halliburton if not a real life Qunatum?
Margaret Thatcher is in good company amongst those Bond villains!
What else do they have in common?

Unfortunately we don't have a James Bond to get rid of the real life monsters,

That's like saying Apple is not a business, it's an organisation with humans in it. Of vital importance to a country is its economy, and to run a successful economy you have to follow some basic rules of business. And if you want someone to blame for the current state of the country look no further than Labour - 3 terms they had in power, and look what's happened!

Don't get me wrong, there is no point in us getting embroiled in a blazing row as no matter what I say you will want her to burn in hell, and no matter what you say I wish her to rest in peace and thank her for turning my country around.

I'm bowing out of this discussion.

It is spiteful and pathetic. And ironic that people should want to celebrate or rejoice with a bottle of champagne. Isn't that meant to be the drink of the yuppies (the fat cats)?!

Take the time to find out why the people do such a thing, she was not all that great and her reign had a very dark side to it that did cost people their livelyhood. On these days were all that is said is how great she was these people want you to know that her rule wasn't all that great. And to draw attention for that they do go some lengths but otherwise I am sure there would have been NO attention at all for the negatives.

She was lucky with getting a war she did win, which has always fogged many of her lesser acts.

The one good thing about the Falkland war is her act of disrespect for the US who wanted to the British to give up the Islands and she basicly told them to bugger off and not interfere. And Reagan did so.

Maybe you should take the time out to see the good she did for the country, like winning the battle against the power hungry Trade Unions that were hell bent on holding our country to ramson. I know there was a lot of ill feeling towards her by many but she took tough decisions that had to be made, like the many mines that were running at a continued loss. At the end of the day, people can have negitive opinions about her politically and that is fine but as I stated before, celebrating her death and throwing parties, seriously there are some really nasty people out there that are showing their true colours.

Oh I am thankful for that, truly.
Our pets are part of our family, for sure. And that also means forever.

  • Ditto the condolences to TLR over the loss of his pet. 4Ever is so right, it is like losing a member of your family. Treasure the times you had. And, if it helps any, after you get used to it I'd recommend a new pet. It won't be quite the same as Rocky, but from my experience a new life to love will help ease the pain a bit.

My fiancé wanted a cat but we couldn't get one because of the dog. Might get one at some point now.

I don't know how some sorry excuses for human beings like you sleep at night. If you don't have anything nice to say, get the hell out. Check the sign at the door, because it doesn't say "Pre-school."
