When will a James bond game be made with good graphics?

I've played most of the Bond games including the recent 007 legends game. Games ok. But has graphics like Agent Under Fire. The bad graphics give James Bond games a bad name.

Q: Will there ever be a Bond game with good graphics?

A: Uh...it's called Blood Stone. That game is gorgeous.
  • Well the graphics are horrible at video mode.

  • I don't play Bond games, but it's safe enough to say that any game releases will surely get better and improve with graphics for example, with each passing year. If you look at some of the releases for any games, they have come on leaps and bounds the last 10 years with design and improvement, and James Bond is no exception. I haven't played Bond Legends, or Agent Under Fire, but I heard the former was a very well done product and got rave reviews ?

If the author wants some impressive graphics, or was dissatisfied with a previous release with regards to that, I suggest wait a little longer, and see what comes along

Wow wow wow. You must not play these games. 007 Legends wasn't only panned by critics and fans alike, it caused Activision to mysteriously abandon their Bond gaming licence and sparked the firing of Eurocom, the studio who made it.

Graphics do not improve over time in all cases. When you have a publisher and developer as clearly lazy as Activision and Eurocom, you come out with a product with so little polish that I have seen PS2 games with more impressive graphics.
  • I still got a PS2 around somewhere, that is never used now, and did every now and again, in the recent past have a go on some releases and I found some of the game titles to be quite addictive and the graphics were impressive. (I did have a Binatone back in around 1979 so can appreciate how far we've come for games playability), but I know the PS3 is so much better and there are other consoles available to purchase now that beat anything the PS2 can deliver, but I'm happy enough with what I've got stashed away. Kids today wouldn't believe what gaming was like in terms or quality or product from 30 years ago or more, and I did get quite involved back in the day

jeesh! I'm just hoping for a good Bond game with "good" gameplay, good graphics would be a double whammy though for sure :)

IMO activisions best attempt was QoS. I played QoS on my 360 using an HD TV and I must say QoS looked really nice to me anyway, I loved the Casino Royale missions especially and I always enjoyed leaning Bond against the wall while on a corner, and just looking at Bond in 3rd person was awesome. The online mode for QoS was great as well, Evasion really was a original game mode and truly made you feel like Bond.

Bloodstone came out around the same time as Assassins Ceed Brotherhood, Red Dead Redemption, etc. So by comparison the graphics on that were fairly average.

Everything Or Nothing had pretty good graphics at the time and Goldeneyes were better than lots of other games on the n64.

Who cares about graphics? They need to produce a game with a decent engine, engaging gameplay and an involving story, first and foremost.
  • Give me a Bond game in the same style as Metal Gear Solid 4 and it would be PERFECT. That's the perfect type of game for Bond-- you even have the option of being sneaky or kill everyone you see

Just add the option to change outfits at will and throw in a few car levels and we'd be golden

Wait a second, are you serious in that part? Activision had really known about the bad critics of 007 Legends, and for that they had abandoned Bond's license? That is the best thing i've heard this week!

That is why 007 Nightfire still a better game than 007 Legends or Goldeneye 2010.
Not up-to-date graphics, but better gameplay and even better story.

Red Dead Redemption had an extensive development cycle, Blood Stone did not. And obviously not a big a budget as RDR.

007 Legends was crapped out in a year and from the looks of things they had an even smaller budget but we were all slating that for how terrible it looked. And Assassins Creed was made in a year and I think it looked better than Bloodstone.

Obviously graphics don't matter much but I also thought the story was very weak, and the gameplay was nothing special (although I loved the takedown system).

Nightfire and Everything Or Nothing didn't have great stories either but they made up for it in other aspects. Nightfire had great original gameplay and tons of variety in the levels, Everything Or Nothing had great graphics, set pieces and voice acting.

You could argue this for Bloodstone but it's nowhere near on the same level as EON. You had to absiel down a burning building on one mission and they hired Willam Dafoe to play the villian! Ah the days when Bond games had lots of effort and money put into them.
  • Great graphics are a plus but gameplay and story line are much more important with any Bond game. I would say Bloodstone is the best styled / looking out of the more recent.

I'll have to disagree. EoN had a great story, yes. At least in my POV. Basically Diavolo wanted to sent out the nanobots to destroy the world's metallic structures. It is a very sci-fi, but great story. It would even fit in a 2018 or 2020 Bond film i guess.

I thought it was much too OTT and, like you said, sci fi. Use nanobots to attack the Kremlin, then with the metal gone take over using an amy of platinum tanks then conquer Europe?

It was a fairly original idea, and I thought the story unfolded in an intresting way, but I thought it was too over the top for Bond. Worked well enough as a game but a film? Nah.

Indeed, as you've spoke now, I've changed my mind about that. I think that EA made a good job buying the story for the game and ban the film production. I didn't think too much of it right now but i think it would be worst than DAD.

I think the naonobot idea is more original than DADs giant death laser idea, so I don't think it'd be worse. I definetly think it wouldn't be a good film though.

More original? Yes. Better executed? No. Though I love EoN, I can take DAD's story quite a bit better.

Not convinced. The grain filter is far too over used and i reckon it's to hide some slightly ropey texture work. I have to say, the QoS game is the best looking. Though only compared to the other Bond games.

What is this grain filter? I am confused. :-/
  • So far, only Bloodstone has come close to having gooder* graphics than the rest. It's. Sad how this game hasn't gotten a sequel to this day. Sob sob

You may get this picture as an example, friend. BloodStone has a lot of Grain filter in the screen.

Hmm...I do think I recall seeing that while playing, and thought that was what everyone was having a fit about, but wasn't sure. Thanks, @Sonic.

It's supposed to give a more film like look but, when done badly, is just distracting. Battlefield Bad Company suffered from it a lot as well.

You welcome, @Brady. I always wanted to know why my screen had looked grainly everytime i played Bloodstone.

In Duke Nukem Forever you also find yourself facing the same filter, however you can simply disable it.
