007 Reviewsh - Goldeneye (The best Bond film)

Forgive the shameless self-promotion but this is my video review of GOLDENEYE (my personal favorite Bond film).

I'm planning on making this a regular series, reviewing all the Bond films. I'm very surprised to see how little there is of someone reviewing all the Bond films. If you enjoy the video, comment, like it, and subscribe.

I applaud you for starting where you want, not just automatically at Dr. No.
I was able to get through the hits on Craig long enough to make it through the video ;).
Good work, I'll be watching out for more.

    And your voice is cool.
  • Well thank you man I appreciate the kind words. I'm not the biggest Craig fan in the world, but I would consider CASINO ROYALE in my top 5 Bond films (if not higher). He was great in that film.
  • Pretty good review, although I think Craig looks fine and I think Dalton was the best Bond, followed by Brosnan and Connery in a tie.

I do love Goldeneye though, it's my 3rd favourite, the only films I rank above it are the Dalton flicks. Subscribed :)

I just rewatched every Bond film, some I haven't seen since I was a kid (including LIVING DAYLIGHTS and LICENSE TO KILL).

THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS was as I remember, good film but could have been better. I like the sniper scene, the car chase, and the scene with John Rhys Davies. But the scene with Bond fighting alongside the Afghan rebels, which wasn't a big deal back then, is very strange to watch now. It's the same thing with RAMBO III.

LICENSE TO KILL I liked. I was pleasantly surprised (didn't think much of it as a kid) but it feels less like a Bond movie and more like a typical 80s action film. I feel like Dalton is just too serious in the role, not a lot of playfulness, but this would end up being the precursor to Craig's movies. Still a good film, not the best in my opinion.

    Thanks for the sub man.

Someone brought up a great point as to how "Flemingesque" GOLDENEYE was. How close is Bond in GOLDENEYE to Fleming's creation. I think it's difficult to say because it's a different world in this movie than it was as Fleming was writing. The Cold War is over, M is now a lady, so Bond's misogynist ways don't fly anymore, and so the character must change along with it. I do like how they named the film after Fleming's ranch and the mention of Bond's parents' death.

Thoroughly enjoyed the video and agree with....well, all of it! Though my initial dislike of Craig and CR has inverted and it's now up there in my top 5, and Craig is my number 2 Bond to good old Pierce.

I did a rundown of the James Bond title sequences for Hasslein Books. The titles for GoldenEye (and the song by Tina Turner and Bono) are probably in my top three. http://hassleinbooks.blogspot.com/2012/11/titles-bond-titles-part-threefeaturing.html

Hi Jimmy - longtime lurker, first-time commenter. I enjoyed your video so much I created an account just to say so. While "Goldeneye" is not my favorite film nor Pierce my favorite Bond, I cannot disagree with anything you said. Good work - please keep it up!

Yes, I completely agree! GoldenEye is my #1 favorite 007 movie of all time! All of your points were accurate and I agree to the full! Excellent review!
  • Thank you for the kind words gentlemen!

Ali, I agree with you about Craig, he was on my watchlist, but CASINO ROYALE made me a believer. Unfortunately QUANTUM send him back a couple notches, but he's made a good comeback with SKYFALL.

DrNo, I enjoyed your breakdown of the title sequences as well and definitely in agreement with the title sequence and song for GOLDENEYE. The rest of them are okay I guess (don't really pay much attention to them aside from the songs). I do like THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH theme and YOU KNOW MY NAME, TOMMOROW and SKYFALL are okay, I hate Madonna with a passion and I can't stand the Jack White song.
