  • From BoxOffice.com: "AUSTRALIA remained #1 in the market for the third consecutive weekend with $4.8, raising its cume to $33.5. JAPAN fell just 40% from its fantastic opening weekend, grossing $3.3, bringing its market cume to $13.2. GERMANY added $2.4 in its 6th frame, increasing its cume to $74.7. The U.K. continues to add to its record-setting total with $2.3 in its 7th week, cume is now a staggering $154.5. THE NETHERLANDS is still #1 for the 6th consecutive weekend, down just 29% with $1.1, cume is $19.1. FRANCE adds $1.0 in its 7th frame, bringing its market cume to $56.5."

Can I just say...that I am very proud of my little country Netherlands ;-).

Sorry to go a little off topic here, but can anyone explain to me how Ice Age 4 has taken a ridiculous $714 million at the international box office? How is the appeal so mammoth? Where is it coming from????

It just makes very strong grosses in all major markets but nothing spectacular or record breaking except it's very popular in South America i've heard it made $46 mil in Mexico and Brazil for example also it's very popular in Russia.

Not seen the 4th movie yet, but they are quite funny films. And it is targeted at kids so it is bound to do a certain amount of business.

Well first off they just seem like popular films, and the series has been around for a good few years so it'll have fans.

Second, it's a U. It's a film aimed at kids that all the family can see. So mum, dad and the kids will go. Maybe bring nan along, nice family day out. And more people=more tickets sold=more money.

So my point is, if a kid/kids wants to go and see Ice Age, chances are at least one adult will be going along too. And it'll cost more.

    as of Dec 11;

Skyfall's overseas total reached $656.7 million, which ranks fourth all-time among 2D-only movies behind Titanic, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Adding in its domestic tally, Skyfall has so far earned over $918 million, and it's looking more and more likely that it will reach $1 billion after opening in China next month.

--> And Javier Bardem is nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award in the category 'Best Supporting Male Actor' for his role as Silva in 'Skyfall'!
--> And Adele's 'Skyfall' has not been disqualified and is now officially on the shortlist for the Oscars in the category 'Best Original Song'!
--> And Roger Deakins just won an LA Film Critics Association Award in the category 'Best Cinematography' for 'Skyfall'!

    " 'Skyfall' strikesss like 'Thunderball!!' " 8-} :))

THREE Oscar nominations for sure for 'Skyfall'. Mark my words :-P!

I think a billion maybe a stretch now? I don't know? I am just glad it has been an overall success!

I think it's fair to say that Skyfall has met all expectations critically and commercially and then some!

The film could make 10 billion for all I care ,But was it a great film ? No it was a cut up mess. Is EON and MGM sending out checks to all the Bond fans anyway ? Why care how much a film makes over quality.

Because how much money the film makes affects the future films. If the money isn't substantial, maybe EON change their thinking with the next film and scrap one idea for another. Or in a financial crisis (as with MGM), there may be a long break again between films as it all gets sorted out if EON aren't confident in continuing the series. This isn't the case, thankfully, but it could.

Ah yes, during the Chinese premiere of Casino Royale, Daniel was walking on the streets under a disguise when a guy tried to sell a copy to him.

We'll have $950 million by China's opening. $50 from there means we've got it.

    Hope you are right.
  • It should do a billion before it opens in China.
With China, it will out gross Thunderball (inflation adjusted) and TDKR.
