Seeing it for the fourth time this weekend. Congratulations, SF, on reaching $800 million!
  • 800 million is a great achievement and now I hope we can reach 1 billion mark and I think it is possible definately as I think Japan and China will help get there each with about 60 to 90 million so about 180 or so

Right! Tomorrow, I'm going to oxford street to buy a hat which I will take home and eat.

I would try a good bakery first @doubleoego ;) Chocolate tends to be a lot tastier than straw or wool.

Sausage rolls would be more appropriate for this time of year, my friend.

So this is settled once and for all - the british spy has overtaken the US spy

I will argue that it might be easier to construct a hat shape with chocolate than with sausage rolls ;)

I like (or liked) the Bourne films but they are no match for Mr. James Bond.

So - they can even still beat TL.

Pitt taking just proves, that there is no such thing as a BO garant anymore. If people don't like the movie, they won't go see it, never mind WHO is in it.

Another update of the 'Spy/Action Movies-list'. I updated the list in such a way now, so that you can also use it as a 'watchlist'. Movies with a '▪' are part of a spy/actionhero movie franchise. Movies with a '▫' are rebooted movies or remakes. Movies with a '∞' are based on previous tv-series.

It is interesting to see what has happened through the years after James Bond found its way to cinema audiences. TV-series were created, like 'Mission: Impossible', 'Get Smart', 'Starsky & Hutch', 'The A-Team', 'I Spy', that were later turned into movies again. These series usually had a similar premise to the James Bond films: Save the world from crazy figures.

Later movies, like the rebooted Batman films, were hugely influenced by James Bond, to such an extend that the actual superhero looked, walked, drove....lived like a possible James Bond. Summarizing: James Bond is one hell of an inspiring person ;-).

And with 'Skyfall', James Bond keeps inspiring and stays the biggest spy franchise of the planet. The movie has passed the 800 million Dollars now. Samuel001? Where is your List of inflation adjusted Bond films ;-)? *UPDATED SATURDAY DECEMBER 1ST 2012*:

Sorry but is your list saying that no Bond pre TLD made over a million?

I've honestly never heard of Michel Vaillant but I'm fairly confident that even the Belgian grosses of the average Bond film would be enough to decimate its laughable 900k. Or does this list not go back further than 1987?
  • @TheWizardOfIce:

No, the list goes back till 1987...no further! I kinda want to make the financial comparison realistic by not going back too much into time. That's why all Bond films prior to 1987 are not mentioned.

Also, you can see it includes all other most recent spy/action/hero franchise films.

I should have mentioned that. Sorry ;-).

Which is the movie - Not Bond - that the Budget is the biggest until today? I mean, is there any movie that passes 1 bi, 1,2 bi, 1,3 bi worldwide?

In My list? I think 'The Dark Knight Rises'. Minimum $250 million. Otherwise, check this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_films

Not exactly, friend. Actually, I've meant in general. Because i'd like to know which movie is the leader of the budget since its release.

I think pirates 3 was the most expensive film ever unadjusted for inflation although it's up for debate as no one knows it's true budget as it was made together with the 2nd film for $450 mil so it is the most expensive film project ever . Individual film wise it is not it goes to tangled at $260 mil. Apparently the 3 hobbit films cost Half a billion to make but if there ever was a box office hit guaranteed it would be the hobbit films i mean a billion each would be consider a dissapointment.

Oh, wow! I've never suspected that it was Pirates's At World's end. Thanks @QBranch and @Gustav.
And which is the movie with the biggest box office ever?

$ 900 mil is a lock my predictions US final gross $270 at least Japan $30 mil at least china huge range her anywhere from$40 mil to $80 mil lower end more likely apparently i'd say $60 mil'

So Us final gross my prediction low end = $270 mil
    International gross low end= $ 690 mil
Total around low end $960 mil WW
Could still pass a billion very easily these are the lowest i think it will make now.

@htall90 thank you, friend. I've had a thought about Avatar being the biggest Box office. Titanic and Avatar were Cameron's... It's not possible, this guy must have somewhat of power when making his films.

Would someday a Bond movie surpass the 3 billion?

What when will a bond pass $3 billion? maybe in 30 years due to inflation or like Avatar or Titanic it becomes a must see film for everyone everywhere due to effects normally. Avatar was driven by it's must see effects so was Jurassic park back in the 90s when it was the highest grossing film as was the original Star Wars.

Guys, let's be realistic. Babs Broccoli and Michael know now damn well that the complete 'Bond upgrade' in 'Skyfall' set new standards. It makes it a lot easier for Bond 24 to pass the $ 1 Billion if you ask me. In a similar way like with 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

From 'Skyfall' and onwards it'll be much easier to bring, again, huge Oscar starcasts and Oscar starcrews on board. Ralph Fiennes is back for sure. But I wanna bet that a possible Blofeld will be as good as Bardem's Silva, if it's being played by Daniel Day Lewis or Christoph Waltz.

Furthermore, Christopher Nolan's Batman is finished. Within the genre of spy/action/hero movies, Bond is on top again.

Also, taking in account inflation in 2014/2015, Bond 24 will top 'Skyfall' easily IF Babs and Michael continue the same way as they did with 'Skyfall'.
