  • Loved the whole film and I liked the locations especially Scotland. The Skyfall house setting and finale really was not an OTT sequence.

Silva's island what a creepy place too.

Whole, bloody thing, not one complaint really
Loved the pts, all the london bits, Bond and Patrice fighting, loved the way Deakins shot this, the casino sequence was old Bondian cool.

Silva's intro and scotland as well as the very end on the roof and in the office.
I've seen it twice now and still not got an outright standout, so many good bits and no bad, even CR had problems, Miami etc but SF was on the nose for me. Seeing it for the last time on Saturday and then I'll do my review.

I was very impressed with the pre-credits scene, but I enjoyed so much Silva vs Bond in the island.... i must vote for acts 1 and 5.

I really cant pick, i'm trying to but the whole thing was excellent imo. It was just great scene after great scene. Personally i thought it was Daniel Craig's best so far.

The only thing about the PTS is that when he jumps off the digger, we can clearly see his shirt near his belly button open. This sort of kills off the uber cool Bond cuff thing don't you think? Connery's shirt would be tucked in defo.

Didn't like the Home Alone:ification either.

Best part is Silva's Island, because of Javier Bardem's magnificent introduction.

Worst? Shanghai/anything about the harddrive that's not the PTS.

    Shanghai the worst? :((
Yep definitely the worst. The whole Patrice killing the art man is bland, so is Bond's part in it too. People say the like the style of it (illuminations and stuff), I personally think it's too much. Visual coolness overdose.

Yeah, when an important moment depends upon two men fighting in silhouette and you're supposed to be rooting for one of them but cannot tell which he is because photographing the shadows in front of the pretty skyscraper is more appealing, you've certainly lost the point.

PTS and Macau feel classic Bond so I'd say those.

Even though it was predictable, I loved 7--Silva storming the inquiry building.
  • 3) Shanghai (0.44-0.54) for me was the most memorable when i left the cinema.
  • Shanghai with the bathed-in-blue fist fight was my favorite. I enjoyed it and really had no issue telling them apart.
  • The entire film was the best scene :D
  • Number 5 for me: I just really love that portion of the film.
  • I honestly don't think I can choose one. The film is just so strong throughout.

The PTS is great because it's classic Bond, but with higher stakes.

The early London scenes with Bond coming back from the dead and taking the tests has some of the best, most dramatic dialogue in the movie.

The Shanghai/Macau stuff is gorgeous to look at and perfectly athmospheric for Bond.

The Island scene has Silva's introduction. Nuff said.

The London Underground/courtroom hearing has unbelievable tension and is perhaps the best edited scene in the film

The DB5/intro to Scotland is a wonderful payoff and more stunning photography.

And the climax is as dramatically powerful as you could possibly want.

Like I said, it's hard to choose a favorite in such an overall strong movie.

I very much concur; I thought the whole movie was entertaining, enjoyable, and well done too; but there is something that just stands out to me about that first interaction between Bond and Silva. There was a real chemistry and force going on between those two there, and it was, for me, fascinating to watch.

First Act including the PTS right up to Silva's Island is my favourite portion of the movie. The rest goes in troughs and peaks until the brilliant closing scene before the GB.
  • The whole thing is great. But Silva's island and his scene at MI6 where his teeth come out are for me the moments where the movie gets truly mesmerizing.

I loved the whole damned movie to bits. Plenty to admire in all those 8 parts. But if I had to choose a fave bit from the list, then it would be 5. It's what I was thinking about the next morning as soon as I woke up and so before I even got out of bed I was analyzing it and why I loved it so much. I also predict that when I get the dvd it'll be the part I'll watch most.
  • I can't choose... seriously I tried. But if I had to... ah... I guess:

    3) Shanghai (0.44-0.54)
    7) Enquiry + DB5 heading to Scotland (1.37-1.52)
    8) Skyfall attack (1.53-2.16)

    Those stood really out.
I love the swiming in Shanghai, the silence Bond enjoys while waiting for further instructions, him following Patrice in the elevator and the fantastic, artistic fight scene with Patrice. That was probably my absolute favourite part.
Equally, I love the Tennyson scene, it really amazed me and the reveal of the DB5 got my fan heart pumping.
The Skyfall is brilliant as it finds the absolute right tone and pace. Bond breaking through the ice with one of Silvas men and killing him underwater was also stuck with me after the cinema. I felt like reading Fleming in that scene.

But as soon as I start thinking more about the other options, it gets more more difficult...
  • 7) Enquiry + DB5 heading to Scotland.

I loved that whole sequence. M quoting Tennyson gave me goosebumps. I love how we had most of the MI6 regulars in one room all taking part in the action. The suspense leading up to Silva bursting in was terrific. I really thought M was about to die at that point. The reveal of the DB5 was terrific... That whole act was just a fanboys dream!

I've divided the movie into several small acts. Let's see which parts of the movie are considered favorites (maybe a poll can be made?):

    1) PCS: Istanbul. Chase (0.00-0.12)
    2) London, Briefing, Q (0.17-0.43)
    3) Shanghai (0.44-0.54)
    4) Macao (0.55-1.07)
    5) Silva's Island (1.08-1.21)
    6) London Underground (1.22-1.36)
    7) Enquiry + DB5 heading to Scotland (1.37-1.52)
    8) Skyfall attack (1.53-2.16)

2 Mostly because of the part with Q.
3 Shanghai was awesome and I love the look of it.
7 mostly because I like how Bond and M were more like a mother and son in this scene. It's also the last real talk they get to have with eachother.
8 Loved seeing Bond's DB5 have the meachine guns. We finally get the full MI6 team back (M, Q, and Moneypenny).

It is between 1, 2, 7 and 8 for me. The PTS is exciting, the London parts show the chaos and return of a broken Bond, and 8 has the great Skyfall fight with M's passing. But ultimately I think 7 is the winner for me. M standing up honorably for her department against the changing tides in the intelligence community, reciting Tennyson with Newman's score playing as Bond runs to save her simply can't be beaten. The explosive courtroom fight where Bond uses smart tactics alongside Mallory and Eve is a great team effort, and Silva's anger at being foiled is wonderful. After that we have M's noble decision to go along as bait before anymore people have to die because of her, and of course the beautiful Bond theme playing as Bond opens the garage to reveal the DB5. Finish that off with the ejector seat joke and Bond and M's contemplating before the storm comes, and act 7 can't be beaten for me.

I can not find any other words to capture the act quite as excellent as you just did. My compliments and complete agreement are yours sir.

Have to agree with this. The film is spectacularly well paced and theres not a scene I find dull or uninteresting.

Even my favourites like OHMSS (the stuff at Dracos birthday), CR (some of the Miami stuff) and TLD (the stuff with Kamran Shah before the final battle) have parts I find a bit slow but the 2h 20 mins just flys by and its just a tragedy that those 10 mins that were cut couldnt be left in.

TDKR had plenty of lulls and you felt its length but SF rattles through its running time.

I'd say my top three are:
    Macao
    Shanghai
    Skyfall

Thanks for the kind words, friend. It is nice to know someone else as in love with that scene as I am. I can't get through the Tennyson speech without getting a tad emotional. Just a truly beautiful, awe-inspiring moment that is my favorite part of the film, I dare say.

I said earlier in the thread that I liked the jellyfish hollogram but the Tennyson scene and the DB5 have to be my favourite parts of the film.

Along with the rest of the audience I cheered when I saw it for the first time.

Difficult for me to choose. If I go with my gut feelings I'd say I loved the Macao scene (I genuinely wonder why, I mean it looked good but why I loved it more?), the introduction of Silva on the island and the Scotland scene, just because it shows Bond's childhood place and I thought it connected so well with the character.
