Wasn't YOLT released 3 years after TB? YOLT is full of iconography but it's one of the inferior film's for me.

One and a half years. December '65 and June '67.

They should get Mel Gibson to direct Bond 24 and I'm not joking. Love him or hate him, you can't deny that he is an amazing director. I'm not a religious person, but I believe The Passion of the Christ is a masterpiece and his latest movie Apocalypto is even better.

He hates British people, especially Timothy Dalton apparently. So I don't think we'll be getting a Bond film from Max anytime soon.

NO NO NO to Gibson. Don' want a racist directing Bond. Plus any enemy of Tim Dalton is an enemy of mine!

Yes well, I think the essential people - e.g. Daniel Craig - wouldn't want to work with Gibson.

I'd like a new car altogether, we've had AMs every film since DAD.

A jag would be nice, there was a great Bentley suggested, or they could bring back the Lotus.

I'd like to see a Bentley or a Lotus in a current Bond film. Probably the Bentley. If not one of those two, just keep using Aston Martin's, as that's the classic Bond film car.

I'd love to see Bond in a classic Bentley.

If Mel Gibson will direct the next Bond - now THAT will be a reason to boycott the film!

But the chances of that happening are probably 0,00000000001%. I trust Daniel and Barbara on this.

I don't know I just think of Aston Martin as the James Bond car, they just go along with the characterful so well. Pierce Brosnan looked waaaaay better in the Vanquish than he did in any BMW, although the Z8 was a nice Bond car.

Lotus would be cool. The new Esprit is really nice and would fit Craig, but they still don't have the gentlemanly air of sophistication that Astons do.

I definitely don't think Bond should ever drive a Bentley unless its a really classic one like in NSNA. Bond should drive a sports car, not a 3 ton luxury coupe that floats around corners.
  • They've only just put the finishing touches to Bond 23, which will be released in the very near future and all eyes should be on that. Simply feels too premature to be thinking of another release after that ? I can't look ahead that far, feels far too early to be thinking what may occur for that. One release at a time for me. I don't think there will be any big name directors for it, i.e. Spielberg, Cameron, Tarantino or McTiernan etc, but the bottom line is, far too early to be looking that far ahead, especially with this release almost upon us, and I can only concentrate on that for the time being

Well I think what I wrote before that he to drive a British Brand I suggest he should drive Jag. Aston Martin again will great Lotus too. British Brand is to be company issued car by Q. I don't want him in European car or Japanese only as his rented cars. Jensen is maybe coming back soon to production rumoured in 2014 sales.
Now he to carry only Walther as actual gun it be good to see him with new Walther, either PPQ, PK380,PPS or his P99 again. The PPK/S is to be his spare gun. & Few gadget for his safety including his Bondmobile.

Here is a quote from Sam Mendes about the story outline when he first arrived as director of SKYFALL...

‘...When I came on board – which was very early in the day – there was already a treatment [a story outline]. And I was very clear straight away that was not what I wanted to do. I took one small element from that treatment, and abandoned everything else.’

Now..would this story outline have been from P&W...if so then Mendes only kept 1 small element and junked the rest - then I guess brought in John Logan to finish but P&W get to keep a credit because of the 1 element....or is this not correct?

So would this be more evidence that P&W are not providing the production team strong enough stories?

I always thought if they brought back some of the old Bond actors for the roles of M or Q. Now when Craig gets too old, who'll be next? Matt Damon? Ed Norton? Jim Carrey? lol.

makes sense to start pre-production of the next one while they are promoting Skyfall. Everyone will be in the same places for a while promoting the film and doing press junkets.

  • I heard that Eve ( Naomie Harris ) will be taking a desk job at the end of the movie. According to a post I read on another website from someone that saw Skyfall Eve will become MoneyPenny. That must mean she will be back for Bond 24

  • I think the best question to be asking is what do people want to see in Bond 24?
Personally I would like to see:
    - gunbarrel at the start
    - return of Felix Lighter
    - use of a winter location
    - Bond visit New York or Paris
    - return of Quantum
    - re-imagination of Blofeld
    - Chris Nolan directing

What do you guys want to see?

No Blofled or sort of because Blofeld is SPECTRE, not Quantum.
No Chris Nolan, because people will say that Bond imitates Batman, just like when Bond was compared to Bourne because Bradley was hired to direct QOS.
  • I'm not going to be too harsh on Purvis and Wade because I like Let Him Have It, TWINE and CR.

But they're really hit and miss and there are better writers out there, some who would love to work on a Bond film.

I believe, if SF is the hit, we assume it will be and with the recent history of whom they got on board, there will be no shortage of first rate directors making the queue.
Problem for Sam Mendes is - I think. that the aspect of making another one more or less back to back seems absolutely scary. Its all consuming and hopefully, if a bit of time has passed and he has recovered from the task, he will say Yes.

They have written the "basics". I don't see the big deal here. Their scripts were much worse during PB's era.

Mendes brought his own ideas, he's a very different director than Campbell & Forster. And I don't want to see Blofeld. Quantum will be back, it's today's SPECTRE. But some are making a big deal out of the fact that Quantum will not be mentioned in SF, just enjoy the film I say.

Completely agree. Bond should also be using the P99. I know bringing in stuff like the DB5 and PPK from the Connery years provides nostalgic value, but this is the 21st century. Bond and his equipment need to evolve, while staying true to the character (keep to the British cars and Walther, just use newer models).

As for the Bond 24 director I think Brad Bird would be an excellent choice seeing how well he directed MI: GP.

The Bond movies need a director who can bring something to the table than just being an action jocky-director. That being said, if SF is as great as everyone says it is, then, is there really a need for the likes of Nolan to come on board? Clearly he can do blockbusters but his attention to detail for action is horrid. Even the Bane vs Batman fights weren't that great imo. What saved the first Bane vs Batman encounter was Bane's monologue.

As for Bird, if GP was his audition to direct a Bond movie, I'd turn him down, although The Incredibles was pretty damn good.

Walter PPK was his weapon of choice for years, don't see what that has to do with "nostalgic value".

    Aston Martin DB5 was in:

    Goldfinger
    Thunderball
    Goldeneye
    Tomorrow Never Dies
    Casino Royale
    Skyfall

    Hardly something "21st century".

Even the slightest change is criticized like crazy. I would keep the PPK and have the newest AM, with an extra DB5 for pleasure cruising. I wouldn't mind seeing Bond having a collection of fine automobiles either.

This is true - look in the Skyfall on Set book - Harris's Eve is sat at a desk before Craig's Bond walks through a padded door to presumably consult the new M (Fiennes). They have tried hard to reinvent the classic characters of M, Moneypenny and Q for a new generation - In many ways this is a relaunch again.
